Gecky

IDOK DEVOTION for Thursday, September 13, 2007

Pray for the Peace of Israel

I’m not attempting to sell you ‘insurance’; besides I figure that you already have the greatest of all policies – Eternal Life. I’ve been taking pictures again and of a surprising subject. Surprising because it is my custom to squeal, shiver and run when the little green guy comes near me. Yes, I am speaking of a gecko, or commonly referred to as a lizard. But this little guy held me nearly spell-bound today in his ‘tattered white coat’. I learned from Internet sources that his ‘white coat’ is due to the natural process of shedding. I must tell you though, I am SO grateful for a ZOOM lens! And as I have studied the many pictures I took of ‘Gecky’, I have marveled at our God. How could any of us look at any piece of creation, plant or animal, and not know He IS!
Scripture tells us in Psalm 139:14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and I am not comparing us to Gecky as ‘man’ according to Psalm 8 is made only a little lower than the angels which means to me that among the creatures of earth, we excel them all.
So I am offering you a ‘safe’ way to study and marvel at the incredible design and creativity of our God, even His sense of humor, if you will. If you were aware of just how squeamish I am about lizards, you would certainly appreciate Father’s sense of humor.
Let me give you a little exercise, every chance you get with your children or your grandchildren study, either up close and personal or in photography, a giraffe, a hippo, a butterfly, ants, frogs, swans, sea gulls, a rose, clouds and on and on. Pray with your little ones (and not so little ones) and ask Father to reveal to you the intricate design He wove into each of His creations. Marvel at Him and applaud Him!! He is AWESOME. Everything He created was for a purpose and one of those purposes was to REVEAL Himself to us. Look for Him in every creature you see and even Gecky won’t look so creepy anymore!!

Psalm 8:
1 O LORD, our Lord,

How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!
Father, You tickle me so. You are AWESOME and certainly not in the least of ways is that You could get ME to see lizards in a new light – I still don’t want them in the house — okay? You are so much fun! Thank You. Thank You for all creatures that You have made, small and great. Thank You for teaching us about You through them. And now I pray for each and every IDOK that we will look for You in everything we behold and will applaud and praise You more and more. And we pray for these that You love and we anticipate Your provisions to them – whatever they need today. And for our IDOK Troops we pray for heart and mind peace and safety of body and we ask You to bring them home to us safe and sound and we pray that daily they will come to love you more and this we ask for Jesus sake. Amen and Amen.

Fairhope-Satsuma Ginger Lilies

IDOK DEVOTION for Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Pray for the Peace of Israel

On a Fairhope balcony in the years 2002 and 2003, a single pot of greenery bloomed, the blossoms were delicate, fragrant and wedding day white. Lack of attention – down right neglect – in 2004 and the little pot gave no blossoms. Yet in 2005, the little pot would not be left behind, she came to Satsuma and there she sat and she sat. But in time the meager stalks, by then reduced to bulbs, found a permanent home and her greenery flourished and flourished, but only the greenery – no blossoms, no fragrance, no wedding day white.
And this year, 2007, again the greenery flourished and even though the bed of ginger lilies had more than tripled in size and number, we wondered will the blossoms ever return.

Galatians 6: 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Yesterday I digitally captured My First Satsuma Ginger Lily. I hope you can open and enjoy the picture. The Fragrance is back!!

Is there something in your life that you have been laboring over, praying over, hoping it would yield? Keep on tiling, keep on praying, keep on giving God time. Galatians 6: 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

And if you have been transplanted from a place, a situation and you seem to be doing okay, the greenery is there, but the ‘fragrance’ is missing – give God time. You can bloom anywhere He has you – in His Time.
Galatians 6: 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Father, thank You. Thank You for Ginger Lilies that bloom and thank You for Your Divine Lessons in the lilies. And I pray for any soul who reads today that feels out of place, transplanted from one place to another and who is still waiting to feel at home, give that one courage and hope today. I ask You to give Your People the will to be encouraged today, the will to trust You, the will to believe You, the will to wait upon You. And for these Zela. Janie B. W.C. The Ellis Family. Bev. And all this we ask because we can in Christ Jesus. Thank You Father.
