IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2008
This is beautiful; just listen. Psalm 119:132 Look upon me and be merciful to me, as Your custom is toward those who love Your name.
As Your custom is. The Holy Spirit highlighted this for me today and as He did my countenance was lifted! It is ABBA’s custom to be merciful to me – to you. It is His custom to look upon us. It is His custom to love us. Hallelujah! That does me good today.
133:Direct my steps by Your Word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Oh I can amen that! Yes, Lord, direct my steps. I have been asking Him just today to direct me, to tell me what to do about a certain thing. And here it is written for me. He is directing me. I can count on Him. You can count on Him too. But that is not all that is coming from this verse. There is a plea here that iniquity not have dominion over me. There is only ONE way that iniquity will not have dominion over me or over you. And that is as He directs our steps, we follow.
136: Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because men do not keep Your law. I am going to get better at this. I know I am because I know He has given me this Scripture today. I often ‘cry’ because men, women, boys and girls fail to obey The Word of the LORD but my ‘crying’ is not always the crying described here. My tears sometimes, too often I think, are not so much because of what their disobedience is doing to them but because of the affect it has on me! The discomfort or hardship it places on me. Do you see the difference? Today I do and by His Grace, tomorrow I will too.
142: Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth. Everlasting righteousness. I like that! There will NEVER, NEVER come a day when our God ceases to be righteous. There will NEVER, EVER come a day when He ceases to do the RIGHT THING for you and me. That comforts me. Let it comfort you too.
148:My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may mediate on Your Word. I am blessed. I sleep well. But this I know, on those occasions when sleep eludes me, there’s a purpose for my sleeplessness: to mediate on His Word. And in those nights when you have been sleeping well and the call of nature wakes you up and someone’s child or even your own son or daughter or grand-child comes to mind; that’s a call to meditate the Word in prayer maybe. Be faithful to pray The Word back to Father. How sweet it would be to drift off to sleep again praying for someone. Only eternity may tell you how important was your praying.
149: Hear my voice according to Your loving-kindness; O LORD, revive me according to Your justice. Yes! Not because of the words I say; not because of the deeds I have done, does He hear me. He hears me because of His loving-kindness! It is the same with you. It is not your words, however eloquent or simple they may be; it is not have well you have performed. No, He hears you because He is loving-kindness. AND He revives us according to His JUSTICE. He is RIGHT to revive us. And if He is right to revive us, and He is; then most assuredly when we call upon Him to revive us, HE WILL. I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There’s that word again… JUST. Okay. I am revived!
Thank You ABBA. Just what I needed today. You are loving-kindness; You are Right, You are Just. Thank You. And I pray for our IDOKs that this writing will encourage them too. Maybe they don’t need this word for the same reason I need it but I know You can apply it just right for each and that is what I am asking you to do for them. Thank You for the privilege of calling these names to You now. Thank You for the privilege of entering into the Work, the miracles You are pulling together and giving out to these. Thank You for Your endless love and mercy to these. Thank You for protecting our IDOK Troops; we are so grateful for each day they serve and we pray they will lean on You and continue to serve well and come home safely with mind, heart and body intact and ready to keep on loving You more and more. We pray for peace of mind for each family member as they wait for a successful conclusion to this war. Today again we remember Israel and we pray for Peace for them. Again we pray for the repentance of America. Father, I ask You for mercy for the people of America. You have been long-suffering already but I pray for more – more space and more grace to repent. You know my heart for the election. And I particularly pray for Sarah as she faces the media wolves. I pray for her strength and faith to fail not. LORD, You know what You want for America, You know the role, the part You want this Nation to take in this time in history. I pray You will raise up those who are willing to work with You and I pray You will sideline those who refuse to work with You. Maybe it is a tiny thing and maybe it will not make a thimble-full of difference but I am personally asking you to prayerfully consider boycotting and making that boycott known to as many people as possible regarding NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, The New York Times and The Washington Post. These media entities are corrupt, bias and hell-bent on getting Obama elected as President. Pray earnestly that Father will in a big way expose these entities for who they are and for what is their God-less agenda and pray that the eyes and minds of people will be opened to TRUTH.
