IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2008
Up-date on Captain Tran. He has been moved to Rehab Center and is trying to get a grasp on what has happened to him. It’s really sad. Vietnamese think it is honorable to die – rather than be a burden. Please continue to pray for him and his family that there will be a purpose for all of this and they will see that. Father, we know little about Captain Tran or his family but of this we are certain; You brought his name and his condition to us for a reason. You have something YOU want to do in the life of Captain Tran and his family. And it is for that we pray to be accomplished. We pray for insight for the folks around Captain Tran and his family to influence and be instruments in Your Hands to make Your Purpose and Will known for this family. Thank You for the privilege of prayer and we look forward to at some point hearing what You have done for these.
Sometimes I don’t like the world that comes knocking on my door as I sit here before my computer screen. As I begin this writing I am again amazed at the Grace of our God. Today, even more than other days His Grace to America (and the world) amazes me. Only His Grace and His Promise keeps Him from ‘flooding’ this place. Think about this the next rainbow you see.
Not only is it legal here to murder babies via abortion but here ‘parents’ are also allowed to bring together their sperm and eggs to make an embryo to be ‘stored’ just in case they may want it later and if not it can be thawed out and left to die. May I give you the definition of embryo from freedictionary.com: 1. An unborn animal or human being in the early stages of development, in humans up to approximately the end of the second month of pregnancy.
A. The fertilized egg of a vertebrate animal following cleavage.
B. In humans, the prefetal product of conception from implantation through the eighth week of development.
I am literally sick to my stomach as I write this word to you today.
One of the articles I read is an old one, dated August 20, 2001; if you would like the link to read the article, please email me and I will send it to you. At the time of this article there was one State – Louisiana – which responded this way: As long as patients give consent, few rules dictate what happens to the embryos that are not implanted. The noteable exception is in the state of Louisiana, which has bestowed a legal status equivalent to personhood on live embryos and outlawed their destruction. “It bestows on the embryos certain rights,” said Dr. Steven Taylor, co- director of the Fertility Institute of New Orleans, a private IVF clinic. “They cannot be experimented on. They cannot be destroyed. If we freeze them and thaw them, it has to be with the intent of implanting them in a woman’s uterus.” I hope this still holds true.
So here I sit a simple-minded soul, often oblivious to much that goes on in the world and this information finds its way to me and you know me I am easily convinced there is a reason for it being made known to me. So I am sharing it with you for a couple reasons.
One because of my utter amazement at the mercy of God to continue to allow us to breathe. He is so AWESOME. We should be worshipping Him, praising Him – laying our lives before Him eager to serve Him; eager to do or say ANYTHING He gives us the privilege to say or do at His bidding and in His Power and Grace. Oh, Lord God, You are worthy of all praise and adoration!
Deuteronomy 17:
18 “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites.
19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes,
20 that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.
Deuteronomy 30:
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
20 that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
And two that You will pray; pray for me to rightly digest this information and pray for God’s continued mercy and grace for an undeserving people to repent and be saved.
The following is the avenue whereby the ‘world’ came beating on my door today:THE STEM CELLS EXTRACTED IN CHINA ARE NOT THE CONTROVERSIAL “FETAL STEM CELLS.” AFTER A LIVE, FULL TERM BIRTH THE STEM CELLS ARE EXTRACTED FROM UMBILICAL CORD BLOOD. IN THE U.S. THIS IS BEING THROWN AWAY AS MEDICAL WASTE!
There is video footage available which indicates at least one little boy is on his way to a healthier life because of stem cells obtained from his own umbilical cord. I don’t know much but that seems like a really good idea to me! I understand that the June 20, 2007 Stem Cell Bill that received a presidential veto did not address nor include umbilical cord blood storage or useage but only embryo stem cell issues. And because of this, I cannot fault the President for his veto. But I believe an ethical, responsible Bill solely addressing umbilical cord blood preservation, usage and/or research would be good. There are some brilliant medical minds that God wants to work through – I think we should find a way for that to happen. We need some ‘Movers and Shakers’ in Washington with some holy guts!
So my dear sisters and brothers, when the world comes knocking on your door, open it and take in as much of its knowledge as the Holy Spirit makes available to you and then diligently compare that knowledge with THE WORD OF GOD. It may not make you popular but it will give you PEACE.
Abba, I don’t know what You want to do with this today whatever it is cause it to be. I do know to ask for You Holy Spirit to make alive Your Word today; to encourage, to strengthen, to chasten, to lead and give direction as we each need. As I look over this list there are babies and children, so sick and families so worried. You know better than any of us this world, invaded, perverted and corrupted with sin is a hard place; hard on children, hard on adults and we need Your help to survive. We proclaim our Hope is in You. We know that nothing is impossible with You and so we pray for miracles for Joshua, Davis, Brooklyn, River, Jackson, Bay, Caleb, Jacob; all our IDOK babies, children and adults with illness and disease. We confess we are a needy people and we are not ashamed to ask You ABBA to help us. We are not ashamed to look to You for answers, for comfort, protection, strength, provisions, every thing we need. We are not ashamed to admit that without You we have no hope. We love You and thank You for loving us our Father and our God. We pray too for our IDOK Troops and we ask You again to protect them today in mind, body and spirit and we ask You again to bring this war to a successful conclusion and we thank You for the progress we are seeing. With issues like today and all that is happening in the political scene I only have peace because of You. As the presidential campaign continues I pray You will expose both Truth and lies and I pray we the people will be willing to receive Truth and reject lies. You know what is best for America.
