And in ‘honor’ of Halloween I give you this:
Deuteronomy 18: 9 “When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. 14 For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you.
Certainly I am ‘preaching’ to the choir today.
Walk circumspectly with your children and your grand-children as you participate in festivities surrounding Halloween — redeem the day and evening for Jesus sake. Celebrate your deliverance from Satan on this day set aside to exalt him. Have holy fun with family and friends, speak of the bounty our God has given us; enjoy a slice of pumpkin pie, tell young and old the real horror story – that hell is dark, hot and frightening beyond comprehension but Jesus has given His own blood that we may escape it. Dress up in costumes if you like but make them costumes that honor The LIGHT of the World and don’t cover your face with a mask; let your countenance be seen – let the THE LIGHT shine through you, especially as the world around you dishonors our King. What’s the text say? 13 You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.
While the world is teaching their children to threaten family and neighbors with ‘trick or treat’ , give your precious ones the best treat of all: a mom, a dad, a grandma, a grandpa sold out to JESUS who never tricks but gives sweet treats forevermore.
Father, there is no doubt in my mind that my rejection of ‘traditional Halloween’ activities, ‘dark’ costumes, masks and the like will label me a fanatic or worse. But DADDY GOD that’s okay with me. I know You are the God of holiness and fun and I want to always line up with You in all my celebrations and activities. So I pray as Christian Churches offer safe alternatives for young ones, I pray Your Gospel will be delivered to them along with candy, games and fun. I am finding it hard to word my heart as I think of young ones and older ones who will be out and about exposed to danger from folks given over to the Evil One. Please protect them and somehow send the Light of Your Gospel to them.
I am thinking especially of J.Lloyd and his upcoming surgery; his faith and trust is strong and we join him in that, trusting You to bring medical correction and healing. Thank You for Your love and good plan for him. Thank You for Your love and good plan for every one listed here. Thank You for Your love and protection You give every moment to our IDOK Troops. Thank You for Your love and good plans You have for all who have been born again by the Blood of the SON. Lord Jesus, thank You for saving us and we ask You to increase our desire to see You face to face, increase of desire to worship You and increase of drive to introduce others to You. We commend ourselves and these to You – Thy will be done in all that concerns Israel, America, the election and the revival of Your Church. Amen and amen. His Ministry to You

In her book, When Godly People do Ungodly Things, Beth Moore said something I think is akin to this soap scum removal. She asked the question: ‘Does attending Bible studies and going to church sanctify us? Yes or no?’

You see reading the Bible and going to church is good.  But reading the Bible and going to church alone will not remove our soap scum. You know how I know? Because we can be listening to the Bible on our CD players as we drive home from church and still ‘cuss’ out that ‘numskull’ who just cut us off in traffic. Why is that? And what are we going to do about it? If we want victory, if we want to be free of our ‘soap scum’, we must consistently (as Beth says in her book) be: ‘Allowing the Holy Spirit to get the Word through and through us instead of just to us…’. The solution to getting rid of our ‘soap scum’ is the WATER of the Word applied, soaked in, and spread out all through us. Beth went on to say: ‘… If we are not deliberately asking God to get into every part of our ‘business’, we’re probably not practicing the approach that will protect us.’

In other words, while we are driving down that familiar highway in rush hour traffic, unless we seriously ponder and give over our whole being to I Thessalonians 5:18 (or some other familiar passage) In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – we probably are not going to bless that ‘numskull’ driver and we just might add some more ‘soap scum’ to our tub.

Jesus prayed this for us: 15 I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. 18 Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. John 17:15-18 Amplified Bible.

At this writing, I have a ‘fairly’ clean tub and shower, thanks to a scrub pad and some cleaning solution. And in PRACTICE, spiritually speaking, my ‘soap scum’ is much less than it used to be but not nearly enough WATER (THE WORD of GOD) has been applied, soaked in, and spread around. It’s tub and shower time, ladies (and gents)!

Father, I thank You for this, I like it but I love the fact that YOUR WORD abiding in me is the POWER to clean soap scum day by day. Thank You. And Lord with these our readers as witnesses, I say to You, Lord, yes get up all in ‘my business… Please! And I pray for the one reading these words right now, that she (he) too will invite You to get up all in ‘their business’ too. And today, Father God, we pray for others, that lists of others on our hearts; we don’t know all their needs but we know some of them: illness and disease, rebellious children and grandchildren, aged parents, lonely souls, hard decisions, debts to be paid, choices to be made, weddings and showers and happy times to be planned and enjoyed, adventures to dream and see come to pass, needed jobs, purposes to know and do, wounded emotions in need of healing, blinded eyes to be opened and hearts to be made flesh instead of stone, forgiveness to be given and forgiveness to be received, and more – much more Lord. And only You can give us all these things and so we ask You now in confidence that You will provide for these.
