Slow to speak; slow to get your feathers ruffled – an oh so beneficial command! Too bad I do not obey it more often.
Case in point: My computer home page is powered by Google. Several months ago I worked with themes, colors, gadgets, bookmarks, etc.and arrived at a final layout that pleased me. I liked just the way it was; did not want it changed. It was comforting to me to open it each day and have my favorite Blogs a click away, WPA’s email account easily accessible for review, my To Do List front and center, birthday reminders to the left, my calendar to the right, word for the day and vegetable of the week lower left and lower center, respectfully. But today, I noticed certain gadgets were not loading properly, either painfully slow or not at all. And, of course, I did not appreciate that. And then near the close of the ‘business’ day I had an all new home page that I did not order!! The Blogs were still there, as was the email, the To Do List, the birthday reminders, all of it BUT it looked different, weird to me, too many words (Can you imagine that? Me thinking there were too many words!!). And so I began to complain, rather harshly, aloud. James 1: 19 and 20 was stored away on the shelf of my mental library — wish I had been quicker to pull it off the shelf and HEED it! Maybe next time — my new Google home page will be a daily reminder with its new and improved gadgets that actually work better and are even more accessible and useful than before. A slice of Humble Pie is not easy to dish up but it really is nutritious. I just hope I don’t ‘earn’ many more slices of it. And I figure if I will just learn to keep my mouth shut just a little bit longer, I can have CHOCOLATE instead!
