IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 2, 2009
It has been a GOOD New Years’ Day and as I begin this writing it is not over yet. We’ve had our traditional lunch. Jerry cooked black-eyed peas, cabbage and oven fried pork chops. I made the cornbread. We’ve talked to family and friends, local and long distance; we’ve napped; watched parts of movies in between naps. My sinuses have my head stuffed, runny, and scratchy and the rest of me slightly lethargic but I’ve loved this day. And the long ‘weekend’ has barely begun!
Last night at midnight (or should I say this morning?) we stood on the porch enjoying a firework or two, compliments of Satsuma I think, and talked to ABBA together thanking Him for 2008 and praising Him for 2009. Day One has been a very good year. I e-mailed just moments ago to a dear friend; well, let me copy and paste a portion of the email: I am thinking we would do well to seize this year and wring every bit of blessing of it into our spirits and souls as there is to receive.
And I asked her to pray this for me:
Pray that my desire to seize this year for HIS glory will not fade. And as you are led it would be a comfort to me if you all would pray the same.
It has been a while since my early morning personal appointment with ABBA but I remember a phrase that we talked over and over. ‘Before this year is out’. I like before this year is out better than by the end of the year because before this year is out means I could start receiving those blessings even today and I know I have. To HIM be the glory. As I said, oh I don’t want this to fade or get old. This is the best time I’ve had with a snotty, stuffy, head and a scratchy throat, I was going to say in a long time but just maybe the better word is EVER.
But back to this phrase ‘before this year is out’. If you are so moved by the Holy Spirit, please adopt it and place following it whatever you sense the Holy One prompting you that He wants and you want this year.
I’m having a hot flash and life is not perfect; 2009 began with 401k(s) and IRA(s) lower than in beginning 2008, projects have been carried over that we set out to complete in 2008 or even 2007, Ones we love so much have health issues, some grand-babies are too far away for us to see has often as we want, my Mom is far away and I’m remembering better days, and there’s more but you know there’s just something about an unexplainable peace, an unexplainable rest, an unexplainable excitement that is bubbling up from within and bursting out on a face that is showing some years – precious years. Years that God has been SO faithful!! To HIM be all the glory. As I said, pray this does not fade before this year is out. LORD willing I’ll see you on Monday.
Psalm 145:

Psalm 145:
17The Lord is [rigidly] righteous in all His ways and gracious and merciful in all His works.
18The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth.
18The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth.
ABBA, I think I shall put this IDOK to bed early and myself too. Thank You for such a fine start to a new year. Thank You for each of our IDOKs and I pray for them, if they have not experienced the unexplainable excitement today that You have for them I pray they will long before this year is out. Thank You for good news received today regarding Lukas and Bernie. We appreciate these improvements and we await more good news of more improvements for them. Thank You for family and friends; thank You for what You are doing on behalf of each of them. I am reminded that Carolyn is set to go back to work on Monday; thank You for her recovery. And Sharron, thank You that her recovery is coming along too. And it is a new year for Shay and the Ministry of Emma’s Kids, I don’t know the needs there but life being what it is and our enemy being who he is, there are obstacles for them and I pray that their strength and their Christian Faith will not fail. And we pray for our IDOK Troops that if You will before this year is out they will all be home with family and friends and that Iraqi Freedom will be a success. George and Laura will be leaving the White House just days from now; no doubt there are so many things to do for this move and I pray their faith in You ABBA will carry them. You know my thoughts and my doubts about this new administration that is to come and LORD in spite of it all I pray Thy Will Be Done. I am confident You are God and in control always. Thank You. I am still concerned for America at large and I am grateful for this privilege. I would rather it not be needed but it is and so I pray for Your mercy, Your blessing of holy conviction to be poured out in measure and I pray souls will soften and minds will turn in repentance. I pray for Israel. Thank You for what Your Word reveals regarding Israel and LORD I pray for the removal of those things that prevent Your People from having the Peace You want to give them. I pled the Blood of our Savior, Jesus the Christ, to cover in protection and holy growth all our readers and all who pray here with us. Amen and amen.
