Noon At The Well

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 2009

A FaceBook Friend posted a link to her page; thought I would pass it along to you. But first read this text then take a look. (It’s a little longer read than we normally have but so worth it.)

John 4:

7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”

8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

9 Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

11 She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?

12 “You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?”

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again;

14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.”

16 He said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”

17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’;

18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.”

19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.

20 “Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”

21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

22 “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.

23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.”

26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

27 At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”

28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men,

29 “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?”

30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.

It may have been for different reasons, different circumstances, different sins; but we have all been NOON at the well. How grateful are we that JESUS came at our NOON and gave us Living Water springing up into Eternal Life? Shall we offer any less to others who are Noon At their Well? (See you in the morning)

This came in while I was sleeping; so it is FRESH to me this morning and I can’t wait for you to read it. It’s from Emma: Hi Kathie, My son, Captain Eppes, talked to Captain Tran (who had a stroke a while back) and he is still in therapy (back in L. A., CA where he is from). The Commanding Officer did his Officer’s Evaluation Report and Cpt. Tran missed making Major by 2 wks. He told Jonathan that it just wasn’t worth fighting him for it but it is so wrong. Anyway, back to Cpt. Tran. He is improving every day – walking with a cane, I think. He is paralyzed on his right side but his speech is very improved. He told Jonathan that he was doing really well and wants Jonathan to come visit soon. He said that he was a Christian now! How about that! I told Jonathan to be sure and let him know how you have had him on the prayer list – since he had the stroke. Isn’t it wonderful to see the fruits of our labor? Cpt. Tran has a long way to go but his spirits are good and got his faith now too! Because of Him, Emma

Isn’t that the most glorious thing in the world?! I have tears of joy and jumping up and down giggles. Cpt. Tran was added to our list late Summer or early Fall 2008. We prayed for him to come to know the LORD and he has!!! I cannot tell you how thankful I am for us to be a part of what ABBA has done and is doing. The part about the Commanding Officer is really sad but God can change him too! Look again at the last five words of verse 30: and they were coming to Him. Oh yes! That’s what it is to be all about – coming to Jesus! And to think we are privileged to meet people at their wells, especially at NOON. To HIM be all the glory!

OH ABBA, thank You. Thank You for allowing us to be a part of this. Thank You for saving Cpt. Tran and letting us enter into that work with You by praying for him. Oh, help us do this over and over again collectively as IDOKs and individually as we meet people in our day to day walking to and from. And we pray this morning for his Commanding Officer, we have no other information about him than he often refusing promotions for his men. You know his heart, You know what he needs to be at peace with You and his men and we pray he will submit to You and become the officer that You would have him be. Thank You for this news, thank You for this day that is before us, Thank You for saving us when we were at the well at noon, ashamed and alone. You are so AWESOME LORD JESUS. We pray now for every one listed here, for any lost of them to meet You at the well and be saved. We pray for Linda and all here who are grieving, that You will comfort them and make them whole again. We pray with renewed vision this morning for all our IDOK Troops, here at home and on foreign soil, for their protection in mind, body and spirit. And thank You that Drew is due to come home in a couple weeks. We pray for his safe passage and that he will adjust to life at home well and find meaningful work and ministry to do here. We again pray for the Peace of Israel and for the repentance of America and for revival to come upon Your Church. Amen and amen.

A New Day

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2009

And this morning we begin again. A new day.

And today is the day we attend a memorial service for Bernie. And today marks five days (earth time) that he has been living, loving and laughing in Heaven. That is something to celebrate!

And yet we acknowledge in our human-ness we have sad-ness but this we know:

Isaiah 25:8-10 (New American Standard Bible)

8 He will swallow up death for all time,

And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,

And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;

For the LORD has spoken.

9 And it will be said in that day,

“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us

This is the LORD for whom we have waited;

Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

And until then we abide in this:

Lamentations 3:22-24 (New American Standard Bible)

22 The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,

For His compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,

“Therefore I have hope in Him.”

Amen and amen, ABBA, and it is so. Our hope is in You. You are our portion, Your loving kindness never ceases and we have tested it more often than we can even count and You, LORD, are forever faithful to us. Thank You. Our thoughts are with Linda and the family this morning. A bittersweet day I think. Hold them extra close we pray.

And we again bring Trisha and Jayden, Brian, Ricky, Chloe, the truck driver, Alex. These are to us serious, serious situations and we want to see You glorified in them and we want to see all these made better in minds, bodies and spirits. And we want them to be enabled by You Holy Spirit to receive all the love and mercy and healing and forgiveness that You have for them. Empower them today, we pray.

And Michael’s Family, this is a tough one we think and we pray that Your Presence will invade and be welcomed and will in time heal the grief. As we look over the list we are reminded of Joe and his need of salvation and so we pray for his heart to be tendered and his eyes to be opened to Your Truth. We pray for holy practicing Christians to cross his path as often as needed to lift You up before him.

It’s a long list, many people in need and collectively we bring them all for Your individual touch. And as in other days we specifically pray for our IDOK Troops for their protection today, for their mental and emotional wellbeing, and for their spirits to be renewed and refreshed. We pray for the peace of Israel, particularly the Peace of Jerusalem. We pray for faithful allies and we pray America will remain and even become a stronger and more faithful ally to Israel. And we pray for the American People, for grace and space to repent. Thank You LORD. I remember Bernie specifically let me know one day that he was amen-ing grace and space to repent for America. Thank You for letting me walk the season of life with Bernie that You did. We receive Your love, mercy, grace, forgiveness and every blessing You desire to give us today. We love You, ABBA, for the God and Father You are to us and we praise You LORD JESUS that it is because of You that we say ABBA and Holy Spirit thank You for delivering and sealing this Truth within us. You are AWESOME God and we love You. Oh, one more thing, specifically school children and grandparents on field trips, give them a safe, sweet, precious time today. Amen and amen. Tulips and More

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2009

The rain did my tulips good. In just a few more days or so I just may have homegrown tulips!!

As you can tell I am way late this morning. My beloved is already on his way to the office and I am just seriously at this. I say seriously because I came to the keyboard over an hour ago and felt ‘blank’. I looked for some reruns, nothing clicked. And then it was time to pack Jerry’s lunch and walk him to the car, and it was while seeing him off that I noticed the tulip foliage. And I thought about this weekend’s rain. There was a LOT of it! It is not always pleasant when it falls but there is something within it that can be retained to cause us to grow and blossom. You get the spiritual application there, don’t you? Things, unpleasant things, happen to us but God has a plan in allowing it. Keep trusting, keep believing and the ‘tulips’ will bloom.

I’ve also been thinking about a song, one that I have not heard in years. It’s Sail On as sung by the Imperials. Tickets to their concerts in the 70s were precious to me! Take a listen to this YouTube. Apparently, it has been around for a long time and not many folks have viewed it. So glad I found it this morning. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YqjENzumJ0&feature=related

Which gives me another thought: put the Word out there, anyway the Holy Spirit leads you and even if it does not take off like a wild fire, don’t fret. The day will come that it will be used!

Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters,

For after many days you will find it again.

Which reminds me of another song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1cjG_inwPI&feature=related

Isaiah 55: 11So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void,

But it shall accomplish what I please,

And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

And if we will remember this, we will do this

12 “ For you shall go out with joy,

And be led out with peace;

The mountains and the hills

Shall break forth into singing before you,

And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

We have added more to our prayer list over the weekend. One is as described here:

This is from a dear IDOK Sister. I am giving it to you just as she phrased it.

I’m sending out this e-mail in honor of a little girl who was hit by a truck in Semmes AL on Monday March 9, 2009. Her name is Chloe Melissa Hennis, she is three years old. Her family does not have medical insurance and is in need our help in this terrible time. We are asking for your prayers for Chloe and her family. There will be a benefit held in Chloe’s honor on April the 4th in Wilmer AL. You can also make donations to Chloe and her family at any century bank starting on Tuesday March 17, 2009. If you or someone you know can donate items to be raffled off at the benefit please contact me at 251-214-5333 if I don’t answer please leave a message and I will return your call. Thank you in advance, Windy M. Keithley

P.S. Please forward this e-mail to as many people as you can the more that know about this the more help we can get for this family & in this troubled time in our world we understand not everyone can make a donation but please pray for this little girl and her family. Thank you again I know Gods people will come through.

Also take note of Trisha and Jayden. Brian and Ricky. These have serious situations. Satan is at work to destroy our children but ABBA is greater and we can work with Him in prayer!

ABBA, the hour for mailing is short; at least if feels that way to me. But even though I am late in Emailing and posting this to the web, I know in time You will use it. Your Word will do the work You have purposed it to do. Thank You for YouTubes. Thank You for the Internet. It seems strange to thank You for that but I am grateful. I know there is much, much evil contained in it and I ask You to protect us from it. I ask You to guide us away from it, protect our eyes and ears from those things that could grab hold and enslave us and I know as we are obedient, You will not fail to do this. And I pray that we will use the Internet for Your Glory, that we will more and more get Your Word out there. Allow us to get Your Word into more and more homes and lives through this media. Anoint the words and music in cyberspace that uplifts Jesus and Your message of salvation. Cause fingers on keyboards to ‘stumble’ upon Your Word and music and captivate them and deliver them from bondage and hell. And closer to home now, we pray for Chloe and her family. LORD show out BIG for Chloe in healing and provisions. Just WOW her family at Your Goodness we pray. And Trisha and Jayden, heal them too please. And Brian and Ricky, You know just what to do there and we pray for that to be. And Father, the man who was driving the truck, I heard he was so emotionally devastated that he had to be taken to the hospital too. Send someone with Your Word into his life that will bring peace to him and help him turn this what was clearly by the Evil One meant for Evil but You LORD have a plan for glory and we ask that plan be manifested. Minister too, LORD, to each other soul and situation listed here. Especially Linda and all of us who will be gathering to remember Bernie and celebrate the successful life You lived through him for 74 years. Walk with us and console as only You can. And we dare not end and send this prayer on its way without praying specifically for our IDOK Troops. We love them, we miss them and we pled the BLOOD OF JESUS over them today in protection of mind, body and spirit. And we pray too for Israel, for peace and deliverance from and victory over all their enemies. And for America I can only ask You for grace and space to repent. For we Your Church I ask You HOLY SPIRIT to pour Yourself upon us to cleanse us and anoint us with Your Fire as Instruments of Rescue. LORD some how make us useful. Some how make us effective in this world against the Evil One. Make us a successful Army advancing Your Gospel. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN. A Day Off

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2009

I have been off my schedule every day this week; not complaining, just explaining. This devotion, A Day Off, was first presented on February 28, 2006. It still speaks today I think.

A Day Off

I’ve been reading in Psalm 18; let me share a portion of it with you. Let’s start with the KJV.

1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

Maybe we could paraphrase it this way: Yes, My Lord, I WILL love You; I WILL choose this day to love You BECAUSE You are giving me STRENGTH to do just that!

2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Look at all He is to us — how could we fail?

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. Yes, He saves us from all our enemies especially when our strongest enemy is US.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. Even when we ‘feel’ like we are the ungodly, when we are afraid of no other as much as we are ourselves…. Even THEN He is our HIGH TOWER and we can run into the High Tower and we are SAVED!

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him, even into His ears. And He heard!

And this comes from THE MESSAGE (paraphrase version)

16 But me He caught–reached all the way from sky to sea; He pulled me out Of that ocean of hate,

17 that enemy chaos, the void in which I was drowning.

18 They hit me when I was down, but GOD stuck by me.

19 He stood me up on a wide-open field; I stood there saved–surprised to be loved!

20 GOD made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I got my act together, He gave me a fresh start. Now right here PLEASE don’t misunderstand … The ONLY thing you or I can do and are suppose to do to get ‘your act together’ IS TRUST HIM! Resting (trusting) in HIM IS getting our act together. And then we are ready for the rest!

21 Now I’m alert to GOD’s ways; I don’t take God for granted.

22 Every day I review the ways He works; I try not to miss a trick. And if I do we stop and start again!

23 I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step.

24 GOD rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes.

30 What a God! His road stretches straight and smooth. Every GOD-direction is road-tested. Everyone who runs toward Him Makes it.

Yes! Everyone who runs toward Him and Rests in HIM makes it!

Father, thank You. It’s been a fast morning; the sun is up and today is the day You have made and we choose to rejoice in You this day whatever this day may bring because You are our Rock, our High Tower, our Shield and our Salvation and we will not be afraid of any … Not even ourselves because You are stronger and mightier that we. Thank You. Thank You for all my IDOKs and I ask You to crown their days with Your Presence and the LIGHT of Your Smile. Thank You for what You are doing for those suffering with illness and disease; thank You for the Glory You are working in them and the comfort and peace You are giving them in the midst of sorrow and pain. Thank You Father for Jesus sake.

And ABBA, three years later it is still true, You are still faithful, You are still making Yourself known to us, Your Presence and the LIGHT of Your Smile is with us still. You are continuing to work comfort and peace in the midst of our sorrow and pain.

Again we pray this morning for Joe. Don’t let him go. Even as You cast out the demons of the man in the tombs, we pray Joe will be made just as free.

You know our hearts for Bernie and Linda, for Ollie, for Kay and for each one named here and we pray not our will but Your Will be done. We pray for our IDOK Troops for their safety and protection. We pray for the safety and protection of Israel. I pray the red envelope and tea bag campaigns will do just what You want them to do. And LORD today You and I will make it. Thank You. Whatever comes it’s You and me. That feels good. I love You, ABBA. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN. Unspoken Requests – situations so close you can only speak to Father about. Joe. Michael H. IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2009

Romans 8:

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Yet, in spite of what appears to be so, in ALL these things, we in HIM are victors, not victims.

Prayer Request from Robelynn: Need you to add another to the prayer list…..my nephew had 2 enlarged lymph nodes removed and was awaiting tests. He just emailed me. He has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and will be undergoing both chemo and radiation. I know little more at this time. His name is Michael. He is the oldest son of my half-brother, Richard.

ABBA, You have amazed me with what You have done. You have taken a group of praying women (and some men too) and You have put together a network that draws people to prayer, that draws people to Yourself. Thank You for letting me be a participant in this. Thank You for reminding us from Your Word today that we are not victims unless we choose to be, that in You LORD we are victorious, period. You know my thoughts, words are not coming easily this morning. Jerry and I were so blessed last night as we visited with Ollie and family. We went to comfort and we were comforted; we went to encourage and we received encouragement. It’s amazing and wonderful how You do that! Thank You. And while we rejoice with the miracle turn around we witnessed, we are mindful that miracles are not always the turn around we want. Some miracles are transitions Home. And that is what we are expecting for Bernie. I envision the striking of the band because a brave, beloved, wonderful, godly solider is coming home. LORD, make that transition from here to there gloriously peaceful. Saturate that room with Your Own Sweet Fragrance. LORD thank You, thank You for the season You gave me here as sister and friend. Thank You for the eternity we have yet before us.

And now we add Michael. Be to him, his all in all. We declare in You he is not a victim of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, he is a canvas upon which to display Your Glory. Shine, LORD, shine. We declare that each of us are canvases in Your gallery and You are painting with brushes and colors of Your Divine Will and You are producing masterpiece after masterpiece. Holy Spirit, let us not demand in attitude, word or deed to be given the brushes and colors because we would surely mar the masterpiece You have already begun.

We again petition You for protection of our IDOK Troops, mind, body and spirit; for protection of Israel and the surrender or defeat of all Israel’s enemies; and for forgiveness and repentance to be granted and received by the people of America and our Leaders in every House and Branch.

I pray for our IDOKs that not one of us would put on a victim mind today but will stand toe to toe in victory. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN.
