IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2009

A couple times in the course of this day a particular Scripture verse has come to mind so I am offering it today as our devotional base.

Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

The part of this verse that I have heard from within today is No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. That is a mouthful! NO is an all inclusive word here. Not one good thing, nothing, absolutely nothing that is good for us will He withhold from us who are abiding in Him. I think that is great news, don’t you? But there is more to the verse, so maybe we should look at that too; like the words Sun and Shield. Obviously we are familiar with the word Sun. It’s that orb burning in the sky that keeps us warm, provides light to grow the food we eat and a whole lot more than I have even an inkling of knowledge about. And a Shield is according to the dictionary: any person or thing that protects, hides, or defends. That pretty well describes what ABBA does for us, wouldn’t you say?

But my initial thought when I read Sun and Shield was that same sun that is so beneficial to us without proper shielding from it will burn us to a crisp. And whether we like it or not that is also true of God. Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Do you recall when Moses asked the Lord to reveal His glory to him? And what did Father tell Moses? In part He said: Exodus 33: 20 But, He said, You can not see My face, for no man shall see Me and live. And yet what are we told in Matthew 26:29 I say to you, I shall not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it with you new and of superior quality in My Father’s kingdom. Obviously, the day will come when at least some humans will see God as He is in Heaven. I say some humans because ONLY those who have come to Jesus Christ in saving faith, accepting Him as their only SHIELD from the wrath of God, the consuming fire that He is will be enabled to see God. Yes, God is the Sun and the Shield we must have. He is the Sun, the consuming fire, that would destroy us if we attempted to come before Him without the SHIELD He has provided. And as the Sun, once we have come to Him protected by His Shield, He will feed us, clothe us and care for us completely. I am glad He is a consuming fire against sin and evil and I am glad He is my Shield against His own fiery judgment. And since He has done this for us, does it make any sense at all that He would withhold ANYTHING else from us that we need or would be good for us to enjoy?

ABBA, reading this it makes perfect holy sense that You have and will take care of us and we are so foolish to worry and yet we still do. It is not pleasant to admit it but I think we worry not because we are humans but because we don’t really believe You. And Lord Jesus were it not for You we would be consumed for this unbelief. Thank You Lord for shielding us from the fiery judgment we deserve. Thank You for rescuing us from eternal hell. I’ve heard it says that it only takes You Holy Spirit a moment to rescue us from hell but it takes a lifetime for You to get the hell out of us. I believe it is true. Thank You for rescuing me from hell and for continuing to work to get it out of me. Thank You for these passages and thank You for this understanding, I pray You can use it to help me and others. Thank You for the email we have received from an Alabama Representative and we believe from his words that he does know You and desires to live for You so we pray for him and others like him. We are glad to have them in office and we pray for them that they will be strong and courageous and will refuse to compromise Your Word for any reason. And so we renew our prayer for Washington and all 50 States and we add this request for our brothers and sisters serving in public office. We pray for our IDOK Troops, for their protection and safety and pray that in their places of service they will be even more inclined to Your Word and abiding in Truth. Again we pray for Israel, especially now with meetings going on; protect them and bring them to peace, I pray. And we remember Doug and thank You for his continued improvement. We are thinking too of others, these written here and all those on our hearts, You are so good to care for them, to answer our prayers and supply all our needs and theirs. Thank You. And thank You for this ministry – make it and me just what You desire for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. And Lord some weeks later since this prayer began we have word from one of those Alabama officials that he wants our prayers, that he is mindful of You, that he does love You and obviously he is well acquainted with Your Word. And ABBA I am so delighted and grateful for this man and for others like him, so for each of them (and You know who they are, Lord) we pray that You will anoint and empower them to stand firm and holy in these places of service You have given them and Lord please bring others alongside to stand with them and help them. And as he suggested move us to be involved in the political process with more than just our prayers according to the individual will You have for each of us. Again, Lord, thank You for this news, thank You for what You are doing. Amen and amen.
