IDOK Devotion for Monday, April 12, 2010

The E-Women conference this weekend was especially good for me. The LORD testified to me again that He takes me seriously.  He spoke encouragement to me at the point of my needs and areas of growth that He and I have been talking about lately, AND He gave me a treat!  I read a few online blogs, one in particular I read daily is written by Lysa TerKeurst.  And Lysa was one of the Speakers at the E-Women Conference on Saturday.  And so just to see me smile the Holy Spirit moved me to the right place at the right time to personally speak with Lsya.  I found her to be as genuine as I had hoped. I have often left comments for Lysa at her blog and I found out this weekend that she actually reads our comments and she now has a personal visit to put with my name. It was a sweet few minutes that means MUCH to me, not only because I have a sister-friend in Lysa but that my DADDY GOD is just so much a DADDY to me. I cannot praise Him enough!!

And this morning as our Sunday School teacher was telling us about a recent opportunity he had to speak to a captive audience of young people – a detention facility, he gave an illustration that I’d like to borrow and share with you.  Imagine you have 4 pennies, three of them are clean and shiny, one is tarnished and dirty; so dirty that you just lay it aside to pick up one that is cleaner; one much more appealing to carry in your pocket.   Perhaps we should consider even though we choose to discard the dirty penny, the dirty penny is still worth a penny.  In fact the dirty penny is of the same value as the clean, shiny pennies.   Now imagine those 4 pennies are 4 souls.  Three are respectable, upstanding citizens and the other one is well, — not. You with me here?  The upstanding ones and the dirty one are of equal value to Jesus.  He died for all four.  He loves all four; not just the three shiny ones.  (That’s hard for us to get our minds around, isn’t it?) He values every soul however tarnished, however soiled, however covered with sores and lesions, enough to allow Jesus to die the sinner’s death for him or her.  This being true, what value should we assign to the dirty pennies we find on our streets? Moreover what value should we assign to the shiny pennies that cross our paths?  Each is of priceless value to our Father.  Should they not be to us as well?  And should not we see ourselves of priceless value to Him?  What would it mean to a dirty penny to know how he or she is valued by God?  What would it mean to you and I if we were willing to accept our own value as placed upon us by the God who created us?  Perhaps the next penny we pick up will remind us that all the  ‘dirty’ pennies, including us,  are valuable to our Papa God!

Romans 3:9-11 (NASB) 9What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;  10 as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; 11THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;

John 3:16 (NASB)16″For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

 Thank You, ABBA, You are so good.  I confess I need Your help with this value You place on people.  I need Your help to neither value myself or others too highly or too lowly.  To hold no one other than You in Awe and to hold no one in disdain and unworthy of salvation but the evil one himself.  I believe You would have us learn this lesson and apply it daily and we agree to learn it and wait to see it lived out in us.  We pray now for Melinda.  She has suffered a long time with pain and I am asking You to cause this surgery to do what it is designed to do and to give her pain relief and restored strength and flexibility.

And I am specifically praying that You will encourage and will help all our IDOKs to utilize the benefits of this email subscription.  I ask You to bless this endeavor.  I pray that no one who wants to be a part of this will be left out.  Encourage and enable them I pray.  We pray too for our IDOK Troops, please keep them safe again today; protect them from all harm of spirit, soul and body and we pray for their families too, that their needs will be fulfilled and they will have peace of mind and will faithfully live to honor You and bless their soldier.

Thank You for services today, for songs that were sung, prayers that were prayed and sermons that were preached.  We pray more and more You will be glorified, more and more that Churches will be Houses of Prayer, and more and more conviction and repentance will come to Your people and will spread to the lost.  You know our hearts for this Nation and for Israel. And all this we ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name.  Amen and amen.

  2. My dear mother alwas taught me to pickup pennies when I found them. This weekend in B’ham outside of our favorite bar-b-que resturant, I found a penny and picked it up, I said, “thank you God for your blessing” we walked about 10 feet and I saw a dime in the parking lot, I told my sister-in-law to pick that one up. God gave her a blessing also!
    This reminds me that God always will take care of us down to the last penny! After all our money does still say IN GO WE TRUST!
