How often have we been counseled to keep our eyes on Jesus? And in the telling and the hearing, have you wanted to say, how? How do I do that? This week someone told me how. She said,”Giving thanks to the LORD is what keeps my eyes on the LORD.”
The enemies were pressing in and King Jehoshaphat said to the LORD:
12 . . . For we haven’t strength enough to defeat this huge horde coming against us, and we don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.
And what did the king order? A choir!
21 After consulting with the people, he appointed those who would sing to Adonai and praise the splendor of his holiness as they went out ahead of the army, saying, “Give thanks to Adonai, for his grace continues forever.”
And what did GOD do?
22 Then, during the time when they were singing and praising, Adonai brought a surprise attack against the people of ‘Amon, Mo’av and Mount Se‘ir who had come to fight Y’hudah; and they were defeated.
Mostly likely I will not be joining the choir at my local assembly, BUT I am heeding this wise counsel and with practice my eyes will be more and more on JESUS.
