That Day!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2008


I dare say all of us have heard and agree a Day of Judgment is coming. Even for those of us who have placed our faith in the Blood Sacrifice of Jesus Christ to be sufficient to save us and keep us from the penalty of eternal damnation, we know an accounting is due us. Right? And these verses confirm that. Romans 14: 10 . . . For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5: 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
And then we read this Scripture I Corinthians 1: 8 And He will establish you to the end [keep you steadfast, give you strength, and guarantee your vindication; He will be your warrant against all accusation or indictment so that you will be] guiltless and irreproachable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
And maybe we wonder, is there a contradiction here? No. Absolutely not. There is NO contradiction in The Word. So what is Abba saying here? Will we be blameless, guiltless and irreproachable on THAT DAY? Or will we give an account of those things we have done and of those things we have not done as we lived here on planet earth? Both! Here’s your key. I Corinthians 3: 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
The Blood Sacrifice of Jesus Christ is sufficient. It is sufficient to eternally save us from eternal damnation. It is sufficient to guarantee that before The Father we are completely hidden and covered in the Righteousness of The Son, Jesus the Christ. And standing in Him we are and shall forever be blameless, guiltless and irreproachable before the Throne of God our Father.
However, that is not the end of the story. Jesus our Saviour will be looking at what we did and did not do during our time here on planet earth and when we are before Him we will surely have some regrets. As we take our place in front of Him, we will surely grieve that we did not do more and better. I am trusting that none of you are saying ‘as long as I am in the position of Righteousness before God the Father on the throne, I don’t care if all my works burn; at least I’ll be in Heaven and not in hell.’ My dear one if that is the real thought of your heart, stop right now and repent. Stop right now and again go over the day you count as the day You were introduced to Jesus as your Substitute. Go over it carefully until You are Sure you have truly received and accepted Jesus as your very own personal Saviour.
Yes before Abba we are pure and spotless but at the Judgment Seat of Christ BEFORE we the Bride are seated at the Marriage Feast, our ‘works’ will be tested. OUR WORKS will be tested. Jesus’ work on our behalf has already been tested on the Cross and He passed. His Resurrection is Proof! So by all means, count on His Resurrection for your standing before Father’s Throne but when it comes to Heavenly Rewards, we better ‘get our act together, quick’!!

Father God, we can only say Thank You. Lord Jesus we can only say Thank You. Holy Spirit we can only say thank You and we are counting on You to motivate us and move us to ‘get our act together’ now. Abba, I am praying for Edie. I can only imagine what she is thinking and feeling. You know and You can help and we ask You now to help. Give Edie the very best report You can. Give her the very best recovery You can. Give her the BEST Lord. And we ask that for Bernie and for Steve too. And others listed here. And we pray for Brad; soften his heart to doing Your Will especially concerning his life with Tressa. And for Tressa we pray for courage and wisdom. For Israel we pray for Peace; for our IDOK Troops we pray for complete safety in mind, body and spirit. For America we pray for repentance; for Your Church we pray for revival and for the election of an American President we pray for Your Will to be done. Amen and Amen in Jesus Name we pray. Tye B. Emotions – Where’d We Get Them?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JULY 1, 2008


There’s a picture of God that I’d like to bring to you today. It came to me this morning as I read these words from Our Daily Bread: Our Heavenly Father delights in bringing us delight.
You do imagine Abba smiling and at times laughing out loud with you, don’t you? When you prepare a special gift for your son or daughter or friend and they open it and you see delight illuminate his or her face, doesn’t your face light up too? Where do you think you got those emotions of joy and delight? That’s right from Abba! You’ve read it from me a number of times and I’m saying it again: Our GOD is AWESOME! He’s the author of HOLY FUN! So worship Him today – participate in some HOLY FUN!
Our Daily Bread said this also today: The enjoyment of “things” can be a positive spiritual experience. When we recognize that He “gives us richly all things to enjoy” (I Timothy 6:17) and that “every good gift … Is from above” (James 1:17), our hearts should be full of thankfulness and praise. Think about that! Enjoying the gifts Abba has given us can be an act of worship! Saving your $$ (after tithes and offerings, of course) and buying that little bass boat, taking it out on a quiet creek on Saturday morning (not Sunday morning), throwing out a line and waiting for a fish to bite, can be an act of worship – for some folks. For me, taking a scenic ride with my Canon Rebel XTi alongside my beloved oohing and aahing over a sunset or sunrise or a butterfly exacting nectar from a smelly plant, can be an act of worship. It’s a matter of being full of thankfulness and praise.
Think about it. Whatever we do today with a heart full of thankfulness and praise is an act of worship – even getting to the insurance office before noon.
I Timothy 6: 17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
James 1: 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Psalm 37: 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Oh Abba You are so AWESOME! Thank You!! I ask You to seat Your Word in the hearts of our IDOKs today. Bring Your Word to life in us and delight Yourself in us today. Delight in blessing us with Yourself today. Whatever Gifts You are giving us today we pray for faith to receive them with thankfulness and praise. And because You have told us to come and pray one for another we are coming with these listed here. We don’t know the needs of everyone, we don’t know what is best or what will glorify You in each circumstance and life and for those that we are closely acquainted we have wants for them – we want them healed, we want them restored and healthy, we want their countenance aglow with life and health and vigor and it is for this we ask. And we ask again for our IDOK Troops, for protection of minds, bodies and spirits. We pray for a successful conclusion to these wars; we pray for an awakening in America. Holy Spirit come in power upon the people of American convincing of sin, of righteousness and judgment to come. Father Lord, open blinded eyes, expose to us what we need to see. Forgive us and have mercy on us. Forgive us for our tolerance and political correctness; correct us Holy Spirit. Please correct us and light a Holy Fire in the heart of Your Church we pray. Balance us Lord to hate sin while loving the sinner. Protect Israel and bring Her to the Peace You have for Her. Long Nights

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2008

I think I am going to be brief this morning as I am LATE getting to the computer. And as is often my custom when I am late coming to meet with you, I turn to the Psalms, like today the 30th because it is the 30th day of the month. In my Bible footnotes I read this: “In the morning; For a sick person, nothing is so long as a painful, sleepless night; few things are as desired as the coming of morning.”
Psalm 30:5b… Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Some of us may be weeping and enduring what seems an endless night but ‘dawn’ is coming. And that’s not just a cliche. It’s Father’s Promise. Read it again: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. I want you to COUNT on that day! Abba does too!!
And one more. Psalm 130 – you don’t want to miss this one.
1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD;
2 Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.
3 If You, LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
And in His word I do hope.
6 My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the LORD;
For with the LORD there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
8 And He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.
With more intensity that the ailing, sleepless one longing for the morning, we who are waiting and enduring a dark night of trial, are placing our HOPE in HIS WORD. We are waiting for the morning for we KNOW our ABBA is Rich toward us in Mercy.
Abba we KNOW You are rich toward us in Mercy and we KNOW that even in the dark night You are with us and Your Dawn upon the illness, disease, temptation and trial is coming and until then and beyond our HOPE is in YOUR WORD. Our hope is in You. Thank You Father. I bring all our IDOKs today, each and every reader wherever in the world he or she is and I pray for them now for strength and hope and courage and faith to envelope and fill them in their dark nights with the anticipation of the Morning You have for each of them. IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2008
With yesterday’s full day and a late start this morning please forgive me for giving you a re-run. This comes from November 16, 2005 (I think). And it is entitled

Mugs

Last night I came across something I have not seen in awhile – a mug with a message — no, not a “wanted poster” — a white drinking mug that reads: Dear God, when I grow up I want to be just like you.

It was just the right piece to add to the collection to enhance the overall motif. Which puts children and growing and Father in mind this morning. And just as the use of this collection will be enjoyed by both child and adult… So growing is something done by all. And when we were younger, people wondered what will she be like when she is grown? (I think some are still wondering!) And we as children dreamed of what we would be when we were grown. Those are important dreams; not to be taken lightly. As it is true for children and physical growth so is it true for adults and growth of mind and emotion and spirit — what we imbibe
SOAK, STEEP
to receive into the mind and retain imbibe moral principles
to assimilate or take into solution
DRINK to take in or up a sponge imbibes moisture
governs what we become.

How fitting for a drinking mug to carry this message. For so it is that what we as people imbibe, that is what we soak or steep ourselves in, what we meditate upon, what we ingest, what we receive into our minds and retain THAT determines WHO we are and who we become. Who DO we want to be like when we grow up? And what means are we employing to get there? And as with the drinking mug — it will hold whatever one choose to put in it and we as people choose what we will imbibe — good or not so good and there by it is determined what we will be like when we grow up.

Romans 8: 29 For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

See FATHER wants us to grow up to be just like Him. We cannot go wrong desiring the same for ourselves.

Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Matthew 26: 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

John 6: 53 And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood].

54 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.

May we all examine what is in our mug – what we are eating and drinking today— that will determine what our “mug” looks like tomorrow — what or who we look like tomorrow — who WILL we be like when we grow up?

Father, thank You. Thank You that we CAN grow into Your Likeness and that is Your desire for us; help it be our desire too; for we KNOW that if what we desire is what You desire it will be DONE. May this be done for each and every IDOK and each and every soul IDOKs love. Thank You for drinking mugs with messages and may this “mug” be a refreshing drink for those around me this day. Cause it to be that this countenance be a reflect of Yours Father… That will be glorious — make it so Father. And that would be a great place to close but Father I dare not without asking for protection and healing and health and food and clothing and shelter and peace of mind and contentment of heart and joy in the soul for each and every IDOK and for those IDOKs love and all that Father for Jesus sake.

And Abba these 2 plus years later thank You for the work You have done with this ‘mug’. And this morning I am thinking of Joann; she’s new to me since the writing of Mug and this morning she is in physical pain and I am asking that you heal those ‘busted’ ribs. Thank You for revealing Yourself to her and I pray for further healing of mind, body and spirit for Joann. Thank You for our IDOK Troops, keep them safe today and bring them home soon. Comfort and Guide Israel to Your Peace; convict and convince Americans to repent; refresh and cleanse Your Church and today Abba console and guide we Your IDOKs. Touch each of us today. Joann.
