Dumps, Delays and Deterrents

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 20, 2008

Until today I have thought of a turned over shredder pail only as an irritant. After all a turned over pail means falling out shreds of paper in places I did not intend which impedes my progress of getting the remaining pile of no longer ‘keep-able’ documents processed through the shredder. But today as I was tempted to fuss at the shreds of paper on the floor rather than in the garbage bag I was aiming for, a word picture came to mind. It is my ‘nature’ to oppose dumps, delays and deterrents in whatever form they come to me. I like to keep things moving in the direction that I have deemed appropriate and usually anything that gets in my way of timely accomplishing my goal is considered my enemy. But not today. Today I saw the dumping of paper delaying my progress not as a deterrent but as an IDOK moment. Spiritually speaking, who wants that pile of shredded mess he or she is trying to put in a disposal bag spread out on the floor of her/his soul? And I think it is rare that Father wants us sifting through ‘shredded’ matters He has already disposed of. Yet I think it is possible for other parties to DUMP our shredder pail and when He allows that to happen, He has His reasons. It is then to our advantage to seek His reason(s) rather than fussing and fuming which by the way delays the process even more. So when your soul gets dumped on with a pail of shredded matter, as quickly as you can turn your focus from your wounded soul to ABBA who may or may not tell you the reason He allowed the dumping. But He will surely guide you as you make a more permanent disposal of the unholy soul refuse. I think sometimes we have to revisit ‘stuff’ for the purpose of learning how to once and for all finally put away the ‘mess’ or possibly Father allows dumpings to occur, and delays to impede what we thought would be a timely accomplishment, for the purpose of deterring us from a worse mistake. And just maybe the dumping is to allow us one more look at that ‘document’ we are about to shred for the confidence to KNOW it is or it is not a candidate for shredding. I hope these ramblings are of some help to you today and not just fodder for the shredder.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
I Corinthians 10: The Message Bible – 13 No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it. 14 So, my very dear friends, when you see people reducing God to something they can use or control, get out of their company as fast as you can.
Abba, Your Resources are unlimited. I appreciate that. So my petition is that You take these ramblings on this screen and turn them into Food for the spirits of each reader. It would delight me for You to minister to someone out there, giving them a tool to KNOW their ‘documents’, to know what You have labeled as refuse or as a keeper and for them to have the strength to shred or not to shred. And for sisters or brothers who have been dumped on again with stuff from long ago, help them once and for all put it through You Holy Shredder so it can be finally disposed of leaving only Holy Help for them and for others. And too today we pray for these listed here. You know what they need, You know their diseases, illnesses, griefs, debts, complaints, cries, sorrows, stresses and more. You know the glorious blessing of rest and seeing Your Glory; so we pray to SEE YOUR GLORY today. We pray for our IDOK Troops to be again protected in mind, body and spirit and to come home safe and sound and more in love with You than when they deployed. And we pray again for the Peace of Israel, for the repentance of America, the defeat of legalized abominations, the election of the President and Vice President that will cause America’s People to turn to You and for the refreshing and reviving of The Bride of Christ for His Name Sake. IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2008

I hope I can communicate this to you. Abba, I am counting on You to get this on the screen and into our IDOKs hearts. I’m still reading 3:16 by Max Lucado – reading time has been limited lately. One of today’s chapters is titled, God’s Gracious Grip (pages 83 – 89) and in those pages, Max told me about Dick and Rick Hoyt. Dick is the father and Rick the son. Rick cannot walk nor can he talk but he communicated well with his father, Dick, what he wanted to do. And his father made it happen. Together they have completed 64 marathons, 206 triathlons, 6 triathlons at Ironman distance, 204 10k runs; since 1975 they have crossed nearly a 1000 finish lines. They traversed the USA in 45 days; that’s 3,735 miles. But you know what, Rick did not walk, pedal or run even one-tenth of one of those miles. His Dad did it all and yet the trophies are all ascribed to Team Hoyt (that’s Dick and Rick). This was Max way of telling his readers that salvation is not of works least any of us should boast. God has done it all. Our part is to say YES, Lord I’d be delighted to be on Your Team. And Max’s closing words to this chapter are these: “When Dick and Rick Hoyt cross finish lines, both receive finisher medals. Post-race listing include both names. The dad does the work, but the son shares in the victory. Why? Because he believes. And because he believes, both celebrate the finish. May you and your Father do the same.” And my prayer at the close of that chapter was ‘Abba, I want us both to be rejoicing when I breath my last breathe here on this earth. I want to have finished well. ‘ But that is not all those closing words brought to mind. Let me clearly state this now, I am expecting Abba and me to be rejoicing when I close my eyes here and open them THERE. However, these closing words force me to think that Father does not rejoice at the physical death of every soul. He does not rejoice when one dies without Christ Jesus as Savior. I don’t like to think about this and I suspect you don’t either. When a soul physically dies we want to imagine them at peace; we want to imagine them suffering no more; we want to imagine them laughing and LIVING. I don’t like standing in a grave-yard wondering did I love enough to let him or her see Jesus living in me? Neither you or I can change what is done but we can love better in these remaining days.
And here is a sentence in the chapter that got a triple underline: “Christ paid too high a price to leave us unguarded.” That rings so true to me and there is much Scripture to seal it for us. Ephesians 4: 30 (NLT) And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He has identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. And so, since He has guarded our last breath here on earth and has guaranteed our safe passage to Heaven, how foolish are we to let our ‘feelings’ and circumstances cause us to doubt that we are GUARDED by Him every breath we take today?
John 6:29 NCV Jesus answered, “The work God wants you to do is this: Believe the One He sent.”
Abba, I am grateful for the reminder that You are GUARDING me and all Your Children. I am grateful for the reminder that NOT ONE of us who are saved by the Blood of Jesus will experience eternal death. And I don’t want to wait until it is too late to be sure about others. I know You have not given every soul I meet into my hands to ask them if they are saved but Lord I don’t want to fail another time to speak Your Word in season as You prompt me Holy Spirit. I am praying now to be more sensitive and bolder in proclaiming Your Good News of Salvation. I want holy boldness to look for opportunities to plant seeds of hope and life into people’s lives every day. And I pray that for IDOKs who are willing to agree. And together we pray for our IDOK Troops; for their protection today and for their safe return when it’s time. Father, I don’t know how up-to-date our list is as to who is where but this I know, You know and we are counting on You to GUARD our IDOK Troops wherever they are. And we are counting on You to see Israel at Peace. And we are pleading for mercy for America and without shame I ask You to help my brothers and sisters in California to over turn the legalization of abomination. And again I pray for the election of the President that will turn America to Jesus as Savior and Lord. And for these listed here, You know the needs and the cries of each heart and we trust You with them for Jesus sake. Hensarling-Thompson-Cost-Thomas Family. Edie. Ann J. Bernie. Malpas Family. Come to the Place of Safe Keeping

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2008

Psalm 18:
1 I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
4 The pangs of death surrounded me,
And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
These verses sit right today. He is our strength; He is our place of safe keeping in the most harsh moments; in those moments when ungodliness presses in and when death looms.
Abba, many of us may be quiet this morning, in need of just resting in Your Safe Keeping; help us do that. Bless these listed here; You know each need and desire; You know what will honor You and bless them and it is for that we pray. We pray too for our IDOK Troops for their safety and their return home to family and friends more in love with You than when they deployed. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. Lord, speak to our IDOKs today, give them comfort and strength. Amen and amen.

Whatever

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2008

2 Corinthians 12:
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Whatever these things are that are concerning us, we can ask. Sometimes they depart, sometimes they don’t – not right away or maybe not until HOME. But either way He has told us His Grace is sufficient. Yet it takes more than just reading these words I have come to understand. The Text says His Strength is made perfect in our weakness but I think unless we choose to believe His Grace is sufficient for us, personally, in this particular ‘whatever’ we will not know His Strength, we will only ‘feel’ our weakness. Can we choose to believe, even BOAST that we have the Favor and Good Will of God resting upon us in the midst of this ‘whatever’? I wonder is the key to experiencing these verses to say aloud and within that the GOOD WILL OF GOD is resting upon us? Maybe if we couple these verses with some others we will have in our own minds a stronger foundation for believing.
Psalm 145: 17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

Whatever our whatevers today His GOOD WILL is resting upon us. I am determined to continue practicing this today. And your prayers for me are much appreciated. HE IS AWESOME.
Abba, You truly are AWESOME and Your Word is true and I am by Your Grace declaring that Your Good Will rests upon me. And not only upon me but upon ALL who call upon You in Truth. Thank You Abba. And this morning we pray for our IDOK Troops, we thank You for Your Good Will upon them today and their families; for the protection You are giving to them, for the ability to make wise choices. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. We pray for the election of the President who will turn us to You Lord Jesus. We pray for the defeat especially in California of laws that protect and even encourage behavior that You have said in Your Word is an abomination to You. And Lord if you will work through us to rescue souls. And we pray this morning for these listed here, each of these have whatevers in their lives and we pray for those whatevers to be removed and relieved and we entrust them now to You in Jesus Name.
