PERILOUSLY POOR!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2008
Almost took the day off …. But I’m here!! Sorry to be late.. Please forgive!!
I warn you though, no proof – reading.
Luke 18: 23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
In this passage the rich young ruler had come to Jesus asking what he could do to inherit eternal life. He called Jesus good. Jesus told him no one was good except God. That should have given the young man a clue but I think it did not. Jesus was telling him I am God. But surely the young man missed it. Jesus recalled the Ten Commandments to him – The Law – something with which the young man was familiar. Still he missed the point or did he? So Jesus said sell all you have and come follow me. And what does the verse say? The rich young ruler became very sorrowful. The Greek transliterated word is perilupos. And it means overcome with sorrow so much as to cause one’s death. Can you imagine this? To trade eternal life for money!! Neither could Jesus. Look at the following verses.
24 And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!
Did you see that? JESUS became very sorrowful! Do you see how it grieved our Lord that this man said NO to His offer of Eternal Life to him? Same Greek word! Looks like maybe our English word ‘peril’ is akin to this Greek word. The rich young ruler kept all his earthly goods that day and became PERILOUSLY POOR!
And Our Lord went beyond PERIL on his behalf and yours and mine!
Our Lord wanted to give this man Eternal Life but he was not willing to let go of this world’s goods in order to receive Eternal Life. He traded what was not his anyway for what could have been his for eternity. How stupid it that? But yet it is still being done today. And you know? Sometimes I think you and I make choices just as stupid. When we say no to the Holy Spirit who is offering us power to resist and instead we say yes to that sin that continues to easily beset us. But lets move on.
And He said to His disciples:
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?”
27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
28 Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.”
29 So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
30 who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Salvation to rich young rulers IS POSSIBLE with God. Take heart for those ‘rich young rulers’ you are continuing to pray for – his or her salvation IS POSSIBLE with God.
And for us? Take heart! Whatever you give up (especially something you dearly love) for Jesus sake, He said, He PROMISED: shall receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life!
Lets not be PERILOUSLY POOR. Lets not hang on to stuff that we can exchange for GREAT REWARD even in the here and now!
Father, take this message and plant it deep within me and within each IDOK. Let us not be perilously poor in these days when You have so much to give us. Help us cooperate with You. And Father for these listed here, thank You for the great gifts You have for each of them, pour them out Lord, pour them out we pray.
Bring our IDOK Troops home safe and until You do keep them from peril today in mind, body and spirit. Bring this war to a successful conclusion; bring America to repentance, bring Israel to Peace and Your Church to restoration and revival for Jesus sake.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2008

Another statement by Alice Matthews has struck a cord with me: When we have the right priorities, God will enable us to do what needs to be done — with joy and satisfaction.
I am considering this a promise. The joy and satisfaction is great but that is just the icing on the cake for me — the promise that He will enable me to do what needs to be done excites me!! But there is a condition, isn’t there? When I have the RIGHT PRIORITIES. I cannot expect Father to shower me with joy and satisfaction or great accomplishments in my day to day breathing in and breathing out if I do not meet the condition, can I? Neither can you.
Matthew 6: 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We read this verse and we apply it to food, clothing, gasoline, shelter, etc.etc. That being true, I am confident it applies to time and work too. If I take this Scripture seriously and jealously guard worship time with Father, making dialogue with Him my FIRST priority all day then I can expect Him to enable me to do what needs to be done AND He will enable me to enjoy the doing of all those things with the added bonus of satisfaction. What a deal is that? So why is it that I don’t keep up my end of this deal daily? Good question, isn’t it?
Report on Jeremy: March 11, 2008 10:31 AM There was a praise announcement regarding Jeremy in chapel today. He was able to sit up in a chair, walk with the aid of a walker, he is completely removed from the ventilator and, he had his first taste of soft food. He has amazed the doctors. Praise the Lord for his healing touch upon Jeremy’s life.
This is really good news! Father Lord we thank You for hearing us and for answering our prayers on behalf of Jeremy and his family. We wait to hear more. I like this promise You have given us and I confess I have not embraced it often enough and I am praying now that I will more and more. We also pray for these, asking for strength to trust You and wait for Your Answers to the gnawing questions about health, illness, disease, financial hardship, wayward children or grandchildren and whatever else is troubling these precious souls. Again we ask for protection of our IDOK Troops and we thank You for the safety and health You have provided already. Keep them safe today in mind and body and spirit. Bring this war to a successful conclusion; bring Israel to Peace with You as Her Messiah; bring America to repentance; continue to expose the Presidential candidate and move for the election of Your Choice for President; revive Your Church and make IDOK a useful and pure vessel in Your Hands for Righteousness Sake. His Ministry to You

Bountifully!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2008

Psalm 13
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 HOW LONG will You forget me, O Lord? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long must I lay up cares within me and have sorrow in my heart day after day? How long shall my enemy exalt himself over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; lighten the eyes [of my faith to behold Your face in the pitchlike darkness], lest I sleep the sleep of death,
4 Lest my enemy say, I have prevailed over him, and those that trouble me rejoice when I am shaken.
5 But I have trusted, leaned on, and been confident in Your mercy and loving-kindness; my heart shall rejoice and be in high spirits in Your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.
I read this Psalm in a few translations this morning. This Amplified Bible version is the one I settled on to give to you. Particularly because of two verses, the third and the last. The amplification of verse 3 is right on target; a prayer to have the eyes of our faith behold His Face even in pitch black dark! To love Him and trust Him so much that even when you are groping in so much ‘I don’t understand’ darkness that you think you just want to lay down and die, by faith in that blackness you SEE HIS FACE. Not His Hands because even then you do not know what He is doing BUT His Face because you KNOW He is there and in that moment that is enough. OH! To have faith like that!! If you have reached that place in your walk with Him, He has DEALT BOUNTIFULLY with you; just THAT step of faith alone is a BOUNTIFUL GIFT!! Let alone what He is doing with HIS HANDS on your behalf which you are yet to see! My cry of exclamation this morning is HE HAS DEALT BOUNTIFULLY WITH ME in spite of me; in spite of the fact that my faith, love and trust is yet to grow this much — but I have hope — HE HAS DEALT BOUNTIFULLY WITH ME!!
Father, it is true You have dealt bountifully with me; so much more bountifully that I deserve! Thank You for Your Forgiveness and continued mercy morning after morning and all though each day. You are the AWESOME God the Psalmist has penned You to be! And we cry out to have our eyes of faith see Your Face and love You more both in darkness and sunshine. I pray this morning for these listed here that the eyes of their faith will be enlightened and Your Face will become a Treasure to them in their individual darkness. I pray Your Hands will lift up the ill in body and spirit; that Your Hands will supply all our needs according to Your Riches in Christ Jesus – thank You for Your Bountiful Supply to us. We pray for our IDOK Troops for their continued protection from harm in all ways, we pray for their safe returns; we pray for the successful conclusion to this war; for the Peace of Israel; for the election of Your Choice for President, for the exposure of truth about the candidates; for the repentance of America and for Your Church to see Your Face and Worship You unashamedly and boldly and this we ask only in the Merits of who You have made us in Christ Jesus. His Ministry to You

We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
