If Only We Knew!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 2008

Lets look again at
Psalm 9:
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

And those who know Your Name WILL put their trust in You. Is it that we do not fully trust Him in all situations because we do not KNOW HIS NAME in that situation? What are our situations? And what does it mean to KNOW someone? Here is a definition taken from www.freedictionary.com
1. To perceive directly; grasp in the mind with clarity or certainty.
2. To regard as true beyond doubt: I know she won’t fail.
3. To have a practical understanding of, as through experience; be skilled in: knows how to cook.
4. To have fixed in the mind: knows her Latin verbs.
5. To have experience of: “a black stubble that had known no razor” William Faulkner.

Right on definitions, aren’t they? Grasp with clarity and certainty. Regard or believe as true without doubt. Experience. Fixed in mind.
Let’s see how Scripture defines KNOW.
Know appears for the first time in the KJV in Genesis 3:5 and it reads: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And the original Hebrew word is [dy and it is transliterated Yada` and pronounced yaw-dah’ and has a LONG list of definitions; here are a few: to know. To perceive and see. To know by experience. To recognise, admit, acknowledge, confess.
This Hebrew word yaw-dah’ in its multiple variations of description is used 947 times in the Old Testament.
Father God KNEW with clarity and certainty what Adam and Eve were going to experience when they ate the forbidden fruit. He, Himself had already in His Heart tasted and experienced what they would experience. He KNEW. He knew the agony their eating of the forbidden fruit had cost Him (the death of and the separation from Jesus, His Only Begotten Son) and what it would cost them and us.
I Peter 1: 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
The Greek word for foreordained is proginwvskw. Transliterated it is Proginosko. Pronounced prog-in-oce’-ko. Coming from another Greek word ginwvskw. Transliterated Ginosko. Pronounced ghin-oce’-ko. And as I am confident you know it means have knowledge of. But it is also a Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman.
That ‘foreordained before the foundation of the world’ means Father was well acquainted, even intimate we could say with the cost of our sin and salvation. To Him it was done long BEFORE Adam and Eve manifested the need.
I cannot even imagine what it would have been had they KNOWN Him well enough to have grasped with clarity and certainty and regarded what He had said to them as truth without doubt. And I cannot even imagine how life here and now would be for me if I would grasp with clarity and certainty and regard what He says to me as truth without doubt. If only I, if only we, KNEW our God!! If only we knew His NAME in each of our situations.
Lets say the situation is financial – the need is $$ and too few $$ are in the account. What do we do? What should we do? First KNOW our God is Jehovah-Jireh – The Lord our Provider. Then Pray. Pray for $$ to fall from Heaven as manna and pray for the wisdom, discernment and opportunity to earn sufficient $$ and be confident in our praying. Be confident that He will do one or the other and be determined to be satisfied with whichever Means He chooses, knowing that His Way is the BEST Way for us at this season of our lives.
Lets say the situation is illness (disease). First we must KNOW our God is Jehovah-Ropheha – The Lord our Healer. Then Pray. Pray to be healed and know that He will heal in His Time and in His Way. And until the healing comes (and it will) KNOW Him as El Shaddai – The God Who is Sufficient for the needs of His People. Father will heal. He will either heal us in the here and now either with a Word or with Medical/Natural Treatment or in His Time He will usher us to Heaven for a NEW BODY free of sin and disease. He is SUFFICIENT FOR HIS PEOPLE.
These preceding Names of God have been taken from the web site below: I have not studied the information at this link therefore I cannot attest to everything contained therein but I believe we can learn much from the author’s research. Lets feast, learn, enjoy and KNOW our God.

Father, I know You, our IDOKs know You but I confess I am not nearly as intimately acquainted with You as I want to be. I do not KNOW You in all my situations as I am going to know You and I am excited that I am in the process of knowing You more and more. And I pray for each of our IDOKs that they too will sense an excitement building in them at knowing You in all their situations. We pray now for Milton, to KNOW You as Jehovah-Ropheha and as Jehovah-Shammah, The Lord is Present, to tell him what medical treatment You want him to take. We pray for Rachel to know You as Jehovah-Ropheha; we pray for each listed here to know You as El-Elyon, The Lord Most High, and El-Olam, The Everlasting God, The God Who will outlast every trial, every conflict, every trouble, every need. You are El-Shaddai, The God Who is sufficient for the needs of His People. Lord, You are sufficient for the needs of us all. You are sufficient to keep our IDOK Troops safe; to bring Israel to Peace; to convict and convince America of sin and righteousness and judgment to come; You are sufficient to care for us and we praise You and thank You for Who You are and who You are growing us to be. Singing With The Saints!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2008

I am continuing to hear in the sound booth of my mind a song we sang Sunday morning at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. It is a song I have heard many times but Sunday a particular phrase issued a calling and an invitation and not just for me but for another. That ‘another’ may be you. As we sang the words
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
The phrase, And all will see how great, how great is our God, became a calling to me. A calling to sing. No, I don’t have a melodious voice for public worship. But the call is to praise (sing) God with my daily comings and goings and the invitation is that if I and another and another will join in then ALL WILL SEE HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD. Is there anything more needed here in America and around the world than this – for All TO SEE HOW GREAT, HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD?
A friend helped me understand this. She sings; not in the choir, not in an ensemble – mind you she could, her voice is that pleasing – she sings in the morning. Yes! In the morning when she first arises as she is readying herself for the day. Can you imagine that?! I am convinced, she sings because she is worshipping Him as she breathes. I love it!! Can you imagine how much Father loves it?!
As I said I am not much of a singer but speaking (singing) out (in tune and on key is optional) those solid rock worship hymns just might make a world of difference in us. Our hearts just might start singing and our faces just might light up and all who see us just might begin to get a glimpse that OUR GOD IS GREAT!
Could it be that just speaking of His Goodness, saying thank You to Him as you breathe in and out is singing? Could it be just maybe your calling is to ‘sing’ and show How Great Is Your God this Tuesday afternoon when the day is getting long and it feels like ‘quittin’ time’? Yeah, me too!
Chris Tomlin – How Great Is Our God
The splendor of a King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps Himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Psalm 9:
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

11 Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion!
Declare His deeds among the people.

Psalm 57:
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto Thee among the nations.
10 For Thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and Thy truth unto the clouds.
Father, thank You for tears, happy tears, tears of emotion getting just a glimpse of Your Greatness. Yes Lord how great You are; help me sing how Great is my God. I am counting on You day by day to teach me and cause me to sing about You and for You. I pray You will anoint this IDOK and that sisters and brothers will ‘sing’ the song; that we all will worship You with each breath. And because these have needs and because You have invited us and commanded us to pray, we pray now that today they will receive Strength to glorify You in their infirmities; will find renewed courage to wait for the answers You are sure to give them; will have discernment and wisdom to make decisions, both small and great; that wayward children and grandchildren will come home; that lost ones will agree to be found; that ears will hear; that wombs will bear children; that diseases will be eradicated and bodies, minds and spirits will be made whole. Thank You for the protection You have given our IDOK Troops; thank You for hearing our prayers for them and for protecting them in a hostile world and we ask again today that You protect them, that You guard their bodies, minds and spirits and that You bring them home more in love with You than when they deployed. And there are others on our minds and we want them to love You deeper too and we pray that it will be so, soon. As we have done so many other days, we pray for America, asking You for mercy, asking You to forgive and grant grace and space for sinners to repent. And asking that You open the eyes of people to what is happening here, that the blinders and darkness that has fallen upon the minds and eyes of people be lifted; that presidential candidates will repent or be removed from the race; that Senators and Representatives repent or be removed from office. Lord, save America. And we pray for relief from the greed of corporations, we’d like to see the price of gasoline and food reduced; we’d like to see insurance companies and health care providers care more about people than profit. Father, our cry is that we live in a corrupt world and only You can save us. Thank You for Your Salvation that is sure to come. We continue to pray for Israel’s Peace and Holy Spirit be poured out on us, so poured out on us that IDOKs will prophesy even as Your Word says. Amen and amen. Darlene. Rachel. Allison. What’s Your Favorite Bad Feeling?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MAY 19, 2008
Jacksonville, Florida is beautiful especially when the rain clouds move out and Luci Swindoll is as funny as ever and still right on point with her message. I was privileged this weekend to share the Women of Faith conference with two dear, dear sisters as traveling partners and with an arena of 9,000 sisters in Christ. We even heard from Max Lucado – so glad he was on the platform this time. It was a good weekend but the best part was getting home!
Back to Luci. She told us that God can help us with our favorite bad feeling. She shared with us that her personal favorite bad feeling was ‘cranky-ness’; that she did not want to be cranky but when people and things around her did not live up to her expectations she just couldn’t help herself — she was cranky. However, one day she decided to give God a chance to help her with her favorite bad feeling. She was scheduled for an obligatory trip, which she did not want to do and which included a ride to the airport, a plane ride, and a hotel stay, etc. – a plethora of opportunity for cranky-ness. So she began to pray for God to favor her trip with kind people willing to work with her for her comforts. And He did. Oh He just ‘showed out’ for her! People seemed to serve her with pleasure and accommodations at every hand exceeded her expectations. Soon Luci was ‘squealing with glee’. She was praising and giving Father ‘high fives’ and ‘God, You Rock’. As Luci meditated on Father’s Infinite Grace to her she began to realize that even if people had not been pleasant and she had not received preferential treatment and plush accommodations, God’s Grace to her was still Infinite and she could choose and be empowered by PRAISE to overcome her favorite bad feeling.
Psalm 28: 6 Blessed be the LORD,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!

7 The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.

8 The LORD is their strength,
And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.
And I am giving you this one in The Message Bible for one particular phrase.
Psalm 81: 1-5 A song to our strong God! A shout to the God of Jacob!
Anthems from the choir, music from the band,
Sweet sounds from lute and harp,
Trumpets and trombones and horns:
it’s festival day, a feast to God!
A day decreed by God,
Solemnly ordered by the God of Jacob.
He commanded Joseph to keep this day
So we’d never forget what He did in Egypt.
I hear this most gentle whisper from One
I never guessed would speak to me:
The power to over come our favorite bad feeling comes in remembering what He has already done for us and knowing that He is not finished yet!
Philippians 1: 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
An update on Janie:
We are back in Arkansas for her second stem cell transplant. She received her central line today and will start the chemo treatment tomorrow which will take place over a four day period. She will get her stem cell transplant on May 22nd. If everything goes smoothly, she should be able to go back home around June 9th. Pray that she will not have any infection or bad reaction to the chemo and stem cells. Pray that she will recovery quickly from the chemo treatment.
As to Patti Shelton, she will return to UAMS on May 20th. Pray that she will be strong enough to harvest more stem cells. They have only been able to harvest 1.5 million , so they need an additional 10.5 million. We continue to thank you for your support. I will keep you up to date on the progress of both Patti and Janie.

Father, Janie and Patti’s health is pressing this morning and we bring them first and we pray for chemo treatments and stem cells to be successful for these two dear sisters. We know You are Sovereign God and we are comforted in that and we know You can and You do, do all things well for all Your Children. Thank You. Thank You for Your Word and for Your Servants who deliver it to us. We pray that Women of Faith will continue to minister mightily for Your Glory.
Thank You for each IDOK and today as their days have already begun and may even be fast paced and hectic at this moment, I am praying for their weaknesses to be made perfect in Your Strength. Thank You for them and I know You are blessing them abundantly today in every way. And these listed here I know You are watching over them and caring for them in ways we can not even imagine. You are AWESOME God and we love You and more than anything else we ask that we love You more, that we love You so much we will invite You and entrust to You our favorite bad feelings.
We come entrusting too our IDOK Troops for more protection today and for strength for them to give You their favorite bad feelings too and for courage in mind and power in body and spirit to live and breathe successfully today.
We pray for America for space and grace to repent and for an awakening of who You are and who we are. We do not know how this presidential election is going to turn and our only encouragement and hope is YOU. Father, we are sorry for the corruption and the abominations that go on in this Nation and I am asking You Father to forgive and have mercy. I am asking You to bless us and favor us with conviction and I am asking You to turn the hearts of people away from their sins to repentance and faith in the ONLY Savior – You LORD JESUS CHRIST.
We pray for the Peace of Israel and for America to continue and become even more solid in standing with Israel. Amen and Amen.

We Are Learners – Aren’t We?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008

Just a little sidebar this Friday morning before we get started. Yesterday while ironing (it’s a REAL good excuse to watch TV) I caught a couple episodes of 7th Heaven. The first one was all about Ruthie’s first date. For me, Ruthie was too young for her first date but in the last scene, well, maybe not. I’ll set the scene for you: Ruthie arrived home from the date, said good night to Mom and Dad, went to her room, turned on some good music, stretched out on her bed (fully dressed), looked up and said, “Thank You.” I smiled real big to see such a depiction on television – a young girl coming home from a date and saying thank You to God our Father. I LIKE IT!!
And some day I’d like to see that played out in my grand-daughters (when they are much older than Ruthie). I figure it this way, if a young lady can come home from a date, look up and say Thank You to DADDY GOD, she must have behaved herself in a godly way!!! Amen and Amen!!
John 6: 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Could it be any plainer? No one can be saved unless he/she is enabled to be saved by the Holy Spirit. No man, woman, boy or girl will ever be saved unless they are first convinced by the Holy Spirit that they are sinners, undone and deserving of everlasting fire; and moreover, that Jesus is the only Savior. Further the Word says that the Father desires for no one to perish, for no one to spend eternal death in everlasting fire. Father, wants everyone to be saved which can only mean that everyone, every man, every woman, every boy and every girl at some point are told in their span of time on this earth that they are in need of a Savior. I do not know how that plays out in some places but Romans 1 does tell us that even nature, creation, the planet we live on and the heavens that we see above us is enough to let every man, woman, boy and girl know that God is. And if they will, not can but will, accept that He is then He will make sure they get the “rest of the story” along with the opportunity to repent and believe in the Bread of Life.
Let us now look at Peter’s great confession. The confession that all who are birthed into the Kingdom of God have made. Lord …you have the words of eternal life…You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. To paraphrase Peter, he was saying – we have learned to believe and trust You; You are the Holy One of God, You are the Anointed One, You ARE Eternal Life. To whom else would we, could we, go?
And we say: Who indeed!!
One more point and we are done for today: we have “learned to believe” What a mission! To learn to believe God. All this weekend, all next week, your mission, my mission, is to learn to believe God; to learn to trust Him, to learn to rely upon Him, to learn to believe Him. How will you do that? How will I do that? Yes, by prayer and reading the Scriptures, but more than praying and reading; by choosing to obey, choosing to believe. When adversity comes to me this week, even today, I must choose to believe that God is still in control and that He loves me and that He would never do or allow anything to be done to me that will ultimately harm me. So, our mission is to learn to believe God. And the very fact He uses the word LEARN indicates it’s a process. We will not always do it right. We will miss the mark. There will be times that we will fail to believe Him but each time we fail, we can begin again. And that my dear ones is LEARNING TO BELIEVE.
Father, we are here to learn; to learn to Believe You; not about You, but You. And Holy Spirit, we are counting on You to make it happen. And even today we expect progress. Thank You Father.

We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
