Just Believe Him

IDOK DEVOTION for Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Challenge: Every morning this week wake up and aloud say FIVE things for which you are thankful.

I heard this on Christian Television by Darlene Bishop.

BBecause
EEmmanuel
LLives
II
EExpect
VVictory
EEvery Time
Do I? Do you? We should!
Emmanuel means – GOD WITH US.
Matthew 1: 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
If we believe this, if we KNOW this, if we KNOW that EMMANUEL lives WITHIN us is there any reason at all that we would not EXPECT VICTORY EVERY TIME, in every situation? There is Only One reason that we fail to experience victory and it is recorded for us —
Mark 14: 38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26: 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Further we are told:
2 Corinthians 2: 14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
But we don’t always follow His Lead and we fail to triumph and when we do we have this:
I John 1: 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So, wherever we find ourselves today, we have hope in Christ. If we are triumphing, if we are living in victory, Praise our God! If we have failed, praise our God — He is faithful to forgive and let us begin again — just Believe HIM!
So many needs today.
Remember again the Wheeler Family in Missouri whose 16 year old daughter was killed this past weekend.
And Joseph Toomey, a 16 year old from Satsuma injured in a motor collision.
Marie Mooney as she grieves the physical death of her sister.
Jenny having surgery today.
Bob and Vicki Willliamson – missionaries in Africa and their many needs and requests.
Aging Parents.
Grown Children facing struggles and life decisions.
W.C. And family – grieving the physical death of W.C.’s Father.
This from Emma: Also, we have friends in Sunday School, The Furrs son is in boot camp/Marines – Parris Island, SC. He has injured his ankle and is in the hospital. If any one would want to drop him a card of encouragement:

Father, so much today. W.C.and Family as they prepare and grieve, we pray for peace and comfort as only You can give, only You can give peace that is above their grief, above our understanding and it is for this for them we pray. And Lord we ask You to heal Joseph Toomey, we ask You to give Him legs that walk again and a spine that supports his frame again. Lord Jesus, please heal Joseph. And Lord, comfort the Wheeler family as only you can. And not only the Wheeler Family but fellow students and friends who miss Lorriane so much. And we ask You to comfort Marie and the family as they grieve the physical death of her sister. Only You can comfort them and we pray they will receive Your Comfort and peace at this time. We again pray for a text book perfect surgery procedure and recovery for Jenny and peace and rest for the family. We don’t know all the needs and concerns that Bob and Vicki have but we pray Thy Will Be Done in all these things. We pray for grace and provisions physically, emotionally, and spiritually to care for aging parents and to stand beside and aid adult children with grown up worries and problems. Lord, help us all. And we pray for our IDOK Troops that You will bring healing and comfort to Edward and all who are injured and weary and worn. And we pray for protection for each in mind and body and spirit today. And Lord bring each and every IDOK Troop home safe and sound at the appointed time. And please end this war soon. And bring Peace to Israel and repentance to America and all this we ask in Jesus Name. The Peace of Israel Linda P. Mr. Nash. DeLois. Terri. Leah O. Patsy B. Kim T. Krystee. Rachel B. HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

Shake, Rattle and Roll

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2007

A Good Day: When the wheels of your shopping cart all go in the same direction. Author Unknown.

We are looking for a good day today! Back to work and all that comes along with that! We’ve done some ‘big’ traveling and it’s good to be home. I’ve missed you all.

I Peter 5: 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
I Kings 19: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
These two Scripture verses came to mind the other day. Jerry and I were waiting at a railroad crossing for a train to pass. In addition to the train sounding its horn there was the sound of metal to metal wheels and rails meeting and moving along – the wheels not the rail. It was loud. And that’s when these Scriptures came to mind – a roaring lion – a whole lot of noise. I thought of our enemy and his volume as he comes into our day with all his lies and demands.
It was difficult for Jerry and I to talk as we waited for the train to pass – the ‘roar’ was distracting and debilitating.
And with Thanksgiving over and forgotten almost before it began, the ROAR has begun. The Roar engineer by Satan to drown out the still small voice of the Christ. And not just the Christ of Christmas but the Christ of Every Day Life. The enemy is like a train – a lot of noise to impeded our advance. But we have a Savior within and we do not have to fear nor do we have to give ‘ear’ to Satan. If we refuse to be distracted or debilitated by the ‘roar’ of the enemy we CAN hear the still small voice of our Christ this Christmas and this very day. And Father knows the ‘noise’ has already begun. The ‘noise’ to shake us, rattle us and roll right over us like a train! BUT we are hearing His Voice today and we are practicing this:
James 4: 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

“ God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Father, thank You that I am here again with our IDOKs and I ask You to bless them, bless us this day with grace to be not distracted or debilitated by the enemy. I pray particularly for the Wheeler Family in Missouri as they mourn the death of their 16 year old daughter. Only You Lord can comfort them in this and we pray they will be comforted. We come with these this morning and pray for strength for each in every situation and we pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America and we pray for our IDOK Troops that You will protect them today in mind and body and spirit that not one of them will fail today to acknowledge and look to You for strength and hope and courage and we pray that You will bring home safely each and every one of them at the appointed time. Lord, You know all that is on our hearts to day. You know the toils and cares, the back to work joys and dreads, school for grand-babies and the like, we entrust each afresh and anew to You today in Jesus name.

Seeing Red

IDOK DEVOTION FOR Friday, November 16, 2007

When I type I make mistakes and this program underlines them in RED and I have such a distaste for seeing red. And when I see red, I want it fixed immediately! But if I continue on typing and then when I am finished, use the spell check the ‘red’s out’ in less time than if I stop to fix each typo myself.
Is there something you are ‘seeing red about’? Give God Time to fix it. Keep on with the good work you are doing and stop worrying or being embarrassed that it is not PERFECT! The ‘spell checker’ is catching it and will fix it in the end. NOW that’s something to be thankful for!
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
We have prayer requests from Missionaries in Madrid – Larry and Rose Anne. She writes:
November 15, 2007–We leave in the morning for our ABWE Western European Conference.
There have been death threats against the Church where they serve and they ask that we pray:
Pray with us for God’s protection and that He would be pleased to bring forth fruit worthy of His name and for the salvation of those who heard the message.
Please pray for wisdom and grace. (As the church meets with Architects)
She also said: Don’t forget – we return from the conference on Sunday, November 25th and leave for Texas on Tuesday, November 27th. We need God’s grace, health and strength to get everything done before we leave. We calculate that we only have about 13 Sundays to fit in 18 supporting churches so we may have to divide this up in two furloughs so bear with us.
Father, first we thank You for the privilege of praying for Larry and Rose Anne. We cannot imagine the danger and the joys they experience and we ask for protection for these who are being threatened with death and we pray that in all this You will be glorified and the Gospel will be preached and lived out. We pray for wisdom, grace and understanding as these meetings with the Architects come about – we pray Your Will be done. And we pray for traveling mercies and schedules that will accomplish what You desire for Jesus sake. Thank You for Larry and Rose Anne, continue to anoint them to share The Gospel and to be their Rear Guard. Thank You Father in Jesus Name.
Two Holiday tips from Journey Magazine (A Life Way Publication):
To free up oven space and avoid burning dinner rolls in an overheated oven, warm the rolls in a slow cooker or crock pot. Wrap them in foil and place in the cooker on low heat for 10 minutes.
Make new candles burn longer by placing them in the freezer for a few hours before lighting.

I have not tried either one of these; if you do, let me know how it works.
And something else from Journey by Kellye Burke
Author Brennan Manning says “we are only grateful people when we can say thank you to all the things in our lives that have brought us to our present moment because we have seen the guiding hand of a loving God in all of it.” It is easy to be grateful when our lives are going well and when God’s answers to our prayers seem readily evident.
It’s more challenging to be grateful when times are hard and everything seems to go from bad to worse. We may pray fervently, but the answers we get seem unclear and our path seems foggy. Sometimes it appears our pain and our problems are bigger than we are. Often we don’t realize until later that He was always with us, sustaining us in supernatural ways. As we seek to know and love God more each day, we learn to give thanks in everything.

Father, thank You that You have the PERFECTION You require in Jesus and You are not looking for it in me – not in my flesh and in my Spirit, You Holy Spirit, are daily working to get the ‘red out’ of me. Thank You! Help me be patient with Your Work. Thank You Lord. And this morning we pray as other mornings for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. We pray for our IDOK Troops, please keep them safe today in mind and body and spirit and as they are observing Thanksgiving away from home this year, help them find much for which to give You thanks. And we pray that each of them will come to love You more and more and that You will bring each of them home safe and sound at the appointed time.
And we bring these too for comfort and peace, health and provisions for Jesus sake.
