IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2008

Please allow me to give you a word from Beth (Moore) this morning. This comes from her Devotional Book Breaking Free Day by Day.
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18
Remember the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee? The master of the banquet made a statement about Jesus that always touches my heart. It just describes Him so well: “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now: (John 2:10 NIV).
Jesus always seems to have something greater waiting up around the bend. I would never claim divine inspiration, but Christ has proven Himself true so often, I believe I can say with all confidence that He has greater things just ahead for you.
(end of quote).
I receive that today and I pray you will too.
Thank you for your continued prayers from my Momma. I spoke with her for a few moments yesterday; she’s weak, yet slowly improving. As you will, keep praying.
Father, thank You. Thank You that even when tiring activities, long days and short nights render us sluggish, You remain Almighty, You remain our Tower and we are coming to You this morning praising You that You are our God and You are Good and Right in all that You do. Thank You for this new morning and a new work week and we pray for freshness. Freshness to begin again at our places of employment and our places of service. We pray for our families for strength and courage and safety today. We pray for our IDOK Troops for their protection today in all aspects: mind, body and spirit. We pray for the families of our IDOK Troops and ask You to bless them and provide all their needs. We pray for these listed here, in all their needs, diverse and many, that each will look to You and receive Your Faithfulness to them. We continue to pray for the Peace of Israel, for this Nation to stand with Her and be an instrument in Your Hands to bless Israel. And we are concerned about America and the unfaithfulness that we see all around us; the sin and hatred, the hopelessness; the despair; the rising costs to buy food and shelter makes it so hard on so many and yet we KNOW You are providing for us; help us have faith and trust in Your Goodness. The Presidential race, we don’t even know what to say about all that is going with that except forgive us Lord, have mercy on us and raise up Your People in America. And Father Momma is on my mind continually – You know Lord, You know. Thank You for faithful IDOKs and I pray Holy Spirit You will continue to move and inspire prayer not only for my Mom but for everyone listed here and for each and every person who reads IDOK. Thank You for this ministry; I don’t know why You let me do this but thank You. Take the words of our sister Beth today and comfort and encourage everyone who reads them. And this we ask based solely upon the Righteousness of Jesus imputed to us in Him. Oh, Father, right standing with You is the greatest of all gifts You have given us. Thank You. Amen and amen.

Waiting

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 28, 2008

Isaiah 30: 18 Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy,
And is rising up to show you compassion,
For the LORD is a just God.
Happy are all who wait patiently for Him.

To this I can only add AMEN!
Again today (tonight) I say Our God is AWESOME. He is a Perfect and Devoted Father. We are foolish indeed if we do not trust Him!

It did not go with my Mom the way we had hoped. In pre-op her heart rate went too high; two physicians worked on her and tried to bring it down but could not. So they postponed the surgery in hopes of bringing it down this afternoon, evening and over night. At this writing, the rate has come down and we are hopeful for surgery in the morning. The surgery is crucial as well as the timing of the surgery. The doctor says its tomorrow (Friday) or its traction until she heals – 6 months to a year. I am interceding as fervently as I know how asking that she rest tonight (Thursday), the rate stay down to a normal beat and that the surgery be textbook perfect tomorrow. If you will, please join me in this prayer. Thank you so much for your love and support. My back discomfort continues to lessen; I expect to be back to normal soon. God is so good. Thank you for praying.
Father, You know the cry of my heart; You know the pain that my Mother is experiencing; You know her needs; You know our needs regarding her and I ask You to bring restful sleep to her tonight and a heart rate and blood pressure conducive to surgery in the morning and I pray that You will ensure the surgery repairs the hip and she recovers from this fracture. I ask You to comfort my Momma. I pray for Brenda and Gina to rest tonight too; they are weary, Lord. Thank You for hearing; thank You for answering. And Father, my Momma is not the only one suffering many others are too and we pray for them that they will find comfort and rest and restoration in You. That our IDOK Troops will be protected in mind and body and spirit; that they will know peace and safety in You; that their families will trust and rest easy in You until You bring each one home. Thank You for America; forgive her, give her grace and space to repent; protect Israel and bring Her the Peace You desire to give Her. Comfort each IDOK, draws us each closer to You and Father, thank You for them. Thank You for their love for You and for me and my family; render to them 100 fold for their love and devotion. Father, we commit this night, this day to You; not our will but Your Will be done in all that touches us for Jesus sake.

A Holy Hush

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY MARCH 27 2008

Isaiah 30: 15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
In quietness and trust is your strength,
But you would have none of it.

It is the in quietness and trust is your strength that jumped off the page for me this morning. The remainder of the verse says but you would have none of it; I am refusing to make that mistake today.
Quietness and Trust = strength.
This morning I believe I am experiencing a holy hush and it is comforting. Our God is a Devoted and Precious Father.
Thank you for your prayers for me – I am improving in record time; not without discomfort yet but it is subsiding quicker than in other episodes. I appreciate you. And this morning I need your prayers for my mother. She fell yesterday afternoon and the doctors say she shattered her right hip. The decision will be made this morning by her cardiologist if she will have hip repair surgery. Family in Tennessee reported to me last night that the doctors are keeping her medicated because the shattered hip hurts so much. My Mom is nearly 84. Please pray for her.
Father, thank You for a holy hush; Your shhhh is a tender, sweet blessing to me. Thank You. And I know it will be to each needy soul this morning. Thank You for taking care of me, of my Momma, of our IDOK Troops, of every soul named here, of all that concerns any of Your Children.

His Ministry to You

My Seven – Your Seven.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2008

Romans 8: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Forced rest has enabled me to do some reflecting, especially today. I have been concerned about my spiritual development for some time now and I think Daddy God gave me something today. Since I need a Wednesday IDOK anyway, might as well give you what I got for me?Right?
I think my spiritual development is hindered because I let some physical things slide. My intention is always to only let it slide one time but most always the one time leads to another time and another and then before I know it a month has gone by. I’ll give you an example, probably more information than you want, but I think it will help prove my point. Years ago my dentist told me that flossing was not just important for me but imperative. I have a man-made tooth and it is made stationary in my mouth by a bridge connecting it to the two natural teeth on either side of it; however, there is the tiniest space beneath the tooth and the gum line. Because of that gap the dentist said: ‘you are to daily floss that space’. It takes about 60 seconds for not just that space but all my dental spaces; but am I faithful? No. And do I reap consequences? Of course. Do those consequences keep me flossing? Yep! For a little while. So what does that have to do with my spiritual development? MUCH! It’s called discipline! And a lack of discipline in any area is a spiritual matter. Let me give you another example. Not only do I have ‘spaces’ in my head (cute, huh?); I have a curvature of my spine which means my back needs special care — do I give it special care? Of course I do, as long as it hurts. And then what do I do when it begins to feel normal again for a couple weeks? You got it! I lapse. I skip a day of back exercises and then another and then another. Again, what does that have to do with spiritual development? Discipline! I’ll say it again: A lack of discipline in any area is a spiritual matter.
So as I was enduring my forced rest today I began thinking about all the stuff that was going undone and it occurred to me that stuff goes undone all the time – one of my nemeses – one of those things that screams at me: you need help. So I told myself there are just some things I must discipline myself to do every day, no exceptions, no lapses. I then began to list them and as it turns out there are SEVEN. Good number – the number of Perfection. However, with more contemplation other things tried to get on my list but I said No I think these 7 encompass it all. And when I do these 7 things it will solve all my problems and will deal with every issue in my life that needs attention. No I’m not kidding. I really believe it. These 7 things will develop me into the woman I want to be and the woman I believe Father wants me to be. Are you ready? Here they are, Daily:

1. On my face prayer
2. Read/study my Bible.
3. Floss my teeth
4. Drink lots of water
5. Do my back exercises
6. Make careful food choices
7. Keep/work my calendar.

That’s it. Just those seven daily disciplines are enough to change me – I’m sure of it! I think I’ll post them for awhile on my mirror. I may even make a chart and checked them off daily for awhile. I am told just 21 days of checking them off (doing them) and the pattern will be set. So what’s your SEVEN?
Father, You have been good to me today; You are good to me everyday! You are not finished with these 7 things, are You? Don’t let me be finished with them either. Thank You for the plans You have for me and I am certain You have plans for every woman, man or child that reads this IDOK wherever they are in the world – You have a plan for them. Not just any plan but Your Very Own Specially Designed Just For Them Plan. And I pray for those persons right now that as they are reading this that You Holy Spirit will convince them this is true and I pray You will plant a seed in each of them. I pray that seed will find fertile soil in their hearts and will take root, produce dreams and desires in them – Your Dreams and Desires for them. I pray we will become a people who cannot be satisfied with anything less than Radical Obedience and Radical Blessings. Lord, thank You for never giving up on us. Thank You for never giving up on these listed here. Some of these are scheduled to be traveling soon and Moms and G-Moms worry about that and so we are praying now for the ones traveling, the purposes for the travel and the ones concerned about these travels. We are boldly asking for traveling mercies, for protection, for Heavenly Favor upon these trips and purposes. Thank You Father.
We are boldly asking for Your Hedge of Protection around each IDOK Troop today and we thank You for all the years of protection You have already given them. We ask for more. We ask that each one of them come home safe and sound at the appointed time. We ask for a successful conclusion to this war and for the Peace of Israel and we pray for America for Her Repentance and we pray for the worlds’ children suffering physical abuse and spiritual darkness – send relief to them and if we can be a conduit Lord beyond prayer, move us we pray. Again, I ask You to bless this IDOK; use it to glorify Yourself and empower Your People for Jesus sake.

Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Deuteronomy 32: 43 “ Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, and render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”
44 So Moses came with Joshua the son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people.
45 Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel,
46 and he said to them: “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe—all the words of this law.
47 For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.”

My Back Hurts – But The Question Is How’s My Soul?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, MARCH, 25 2008

All that I have picked up this morning has directed me to the book of James. First I read: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8) That’s a promise I need this morning. Next I read: So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak; slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. (James 1:19-20) And oh how I need that this morning. I am having the worst episode with my chronic back since a decade ago, I think, and sitting is the position that causes the most discomfort. SO these passages in James are timely for me. I have a propensity to become angry when this frame of mine limits me – I often foolishly in my anger push it even harder to prove to it that it will not win… That line of action is proper with some things but I know this is not one of those times. And Father is SO RIGHT the wrath of man DOES NOT produce the righteousness of God.
James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Is soul-ish wrath filthy and an overflow of wickedness? Yeah I’m afraid it is and the ONLY cure is THE WORD and The Word will save our souls not only from soul-ish wrath but all that other stuff that keeps us from drawing near to our God. So the question is how’s my soul this morning? I’ll be pondering that. You too?
Father, thank You that You watch us so carefully; thank You that You have FOOD for us, we only need to lay aside what so easily hinders us and come and dine. Help us do that today. Help me glory in my infirmities today; thank You for that Word, Lord. Thank You. I pray for each of our IDOKs today. I am privy to some of the illnesses, some of the hurts, some of the discouragement-s, some of the trials, some of the questions, some of the needs but You Father are aware of them all. And You know just what is needed and You are good and faithful to provide. And we are grateful. Yet You have told us to come and ask so we are. Father, You know our friend and the hearing loss and I am asking You to increase the hearing today. I am asking You to restore the hearing. And these other listed here, they need Your Help and I am asking You to intervene with each one today. I am asking, we are asking, too that You protect our IDOK Troops today; that You protect their minds, their bodies and their spirits; that no harm be allowed today. We pray for Your Hedge of Protection around them. And we ask You at the appointed time to bring them home. And Father we have been praying and You have been answering with presidential candidates and we thank You and we ask You to continue with this Nation as a whole. Corruption is rampant and we ask You to expose sin for the death it is and we pray for Holy Spirit conviction and for the saving of people. Holy Spirit pour out Your Conviction upon lost souls and move us who Know You to spoon feed if necessary Your Gospel to them. Move in on us Lord; we need You. Maggie and Family. Josh. Donnie S.
