IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2008

I’ve been talking to myself recently about the things I talk to DADDY GOD about. Well, not so much the things I talk to Him about but the way I phrase what I want to talk to Him about. And today I said to myself, or was it The Holy Spirit who said, “You don’t have to beg. He is more than willing and able to do that.” I quickly rephrased my request to a positive anticipation. We should never approach our Father in prayer as if we have to beg Him or ‘twist His Arm’ to get Him to respond to us. We don’t have to cajole Him to give strength to a sister or brother who is hard hit with adverse situations. Would it not build our own faith if we said Father, You know what has happened and I know You have a plan in this and I know You are willing and able to give _______ strength and courage to overcome; thank You for what You are doing for her even now and Holy Spirit thank You that You are empowering her to receive Your help.
And when we are concerned for a lost friend, would it not build our own faith to rather than pray as if we have to coax Father to save them but praise Him for what He is doing to draw them to Himself; to praise Him for the mercy and grace He is pouring out upon them; to thank Him for every witness and circumstance that He is using to convince your friend of his or her need of salvation. It is my goal to be positive in my praying; to pray with thanksgiving, to pray Father’s Word back to Him and KNOW He will answer. You know that too, don’t you?

One more thing: a line from one of the songs we sang this past weekend is a nugget worth holding on to: I have hope today because the Sovereign God of the heavens loves me.
Meditate on that today; get the arms of your heart around it, embrace it and make it your own.

Philippians 4: 6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
2 Peter 3: 9 The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.

Father, I know You are watching over each of our IDOKs today and everyday. I know You are taking Your Word and empowering it to do that which You have ordained for Your Glory and the good of these listed here. Thank You for the protection You have continually given to our IDOK Troops and we pray for Your Protection again today, mind, body and spirit. And we thank You that You love them even more than we. We pray for a successful conclusion to these wars; we pray for the repentance of America; thank You for the mercy and grace You show this nation every day. Thank You for the plans You have for America and thank You for all the encouragement You give us to embrace Your Plans. We continue to obey You in our prayers for the Peace of Israel and to intercede for the Church, that we will holy and blameless for Your Sake, Lord Jesus. Alla Mae. W C and family. Great Is His Faithfulness

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2008

22-24 God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
His merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.

From The Message Bible – Lamentations 3

Whatever the weekend has held for you, today’s a new day. However, difficult it may be to grasp it, try! Remember — Great is HIS FAITHFULNESS

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
Verse 1
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my father!
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not:
As thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Chorus:
Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
Verse 2
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Verse 3
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth.
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Father, I am grateful for Your Faithfulness, without You all of us would be nothing. Thank You for the Extraordinary Women’s Conference, thank You for the helps I heard, help me to meditate upon them until I get from them what You desired in having me be there. Thank You that You are merciful and ever faithful to us all. You know what has gone on this weekend with each of our IDOKs and You know who is hurting this morning and who is rejoicing – help us all alike praise You and remember Your Faithfulness. I know Ms. Alla Mae is grieving this morning and there are arrangements and details to be attended as she prepares to place the physical body of her daughter to rest. You know better than anyone how difficult that is and You better than anyone can comfort her and we are counting on You to comfort her and we are counting on You to send alongside people to aid and love on her in this time. No doubt there are other IDOKs in need of comfort and courage and strength and discernment this morning and healings of various kinds and so we are asking on their behalf that You will attend to them and we know You will because You are Faithfully in love with us. Thank You Father.
And we pray for our IDOK Troops too as faithfully as we know how for their protection, not just bodily but their emotions and their spirits too. We pray for a safe return home for each of them and for a successful conclusion to these wars.
We are also reminded of the election in November and we pray for Your Will to be done. Forgive us, at times we get weary with the corruption, the sin and the high costs here in America but even then we are grateful to live here and we pray that You will give each of us a vision, a dream and a plan to make this place a better place; help us live out the Peace You give us in our little corner of Your World for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

Know that You Know

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 2008
We are never more fulfilled than when our longing for God is met by His Presence in our lives. Billy Graham

Beth (Moore) said something the other day and I have not forgotten it. She said: “If your study of the Word does not cause you to love Him, you do not know Him.”
And in my search for the Text that says the same I found other verses. These two feel particularly beautiful right now:
Deuteronomy 7: 8 but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

And I want you to meditate on these today. I want you to hear them deep in your spirit.
The LORD loves you.
The LORD has redeemed you.
He has brought you out of bondage.
The LORD is God
The LORD is your God and He is FAITHFUL to you and to your children’s children.

Oh and yes the verse that supports Beth’s statement is I John 4: 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
From time to time I have to ask: Are you sure you are in the FAITH? Do you know that you know that you know that He is your LORD and your God? If you are not sure, read The Word until you are sure! When you LOVE HIM, you will know that you know.
Father, I am grateful that You have made me know that I know that I know You are my LORD and my God. And I thank You for each IDOK that knows this most blessed of all truth. Thank You for the redemption and deliverance that ONLY YOU LORD JESUS could buy for us. And thank You HOLY SPIRIT for ONLY YOU can deliver it.
There are many things on the minds of IDOKs this day and they are varied things, some to do with illness and disease I think and some with wayward children and maybe even a wayward spouse, and others I think is financial, wondering how to pay this or pay that, and some are concerned about just where that someone will spend eternity and Lord that would seem to me should be our greatest concern but sometimes it is not; forgive us. And in all these things with all these folks our highest and greatest request can only be Father, Your will be done. And added to that we specifically pray for our IDOK Troops as we do daily and daily we desire that they be kept safe from all harm of mind, body or spirit. And daily we desire that they be guided and that they know they are loved and appreciated. And daily we pray for a successful conclusion to this war. And we are so grateful when we hear a positive news report from Baghdad or other of the places we are engaged. And we have this Nation as a whole in our minds often, we are sorry for the evil we see and we at times feel overwhelmed and discouraged at these things and the economy and the injustice that seems to be so rampant and even the price of gasoline, this concerns us and yes we would so like for You to bring us relief. And there’s all the yang yang that is going on with the presidential candidates and yet it seems to be necessary for the exposure for which we have prayed, so Lord, not our will but Your Will be done with this election. And as before Israel’s welfare and Her Peace are our concern. Thank You for the way She teaches us about You and bless Her, Lord. Tonight begins Extraordinary Women Conference in Pensacola and I am personally asking You Holy Spirit to come and deliver to us and deliver us from bondages and help us know that we know that we know You are our LORD and our God, the Faithful One. Amen and amen.

End Of The Road — not!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 24, 2008

My friendship calendar said: Happiness is found along the way, not at the end of the road.
And I agree, in part, with that. If we gather ourselves into the ‘Pilot’ for a long journey and we think only of the destination and we focus only on ‘getting there’, it’s a long, long journey and not much fun! But if we count the States represented on car tags as they speed by, if we commune with each other and with Father’s Creation just outside the window and we stop for a barbecue sandwich and ice cream and we engage others in our laughter, that’s a sweet journey. And so in that way I agree with my Friendship Calendar but I also differ – when all is said and done there is NO END OF THE ROAD – not really, I thought. And then I read Our Daily Bread and I knew I was right. Today’s ODB is entitled A Sailing Ship and it speaks of the ‘end of the road’ as we usually think of it and it reads, in part, this way (by Henry van Dyke): “I am standing at the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. I stand and watch her until at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud, just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other . . . . And just at the moment when someone at my side says: ‘There, she is gone!’ there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ‘Here she comes!’ And that is dying.”
No, my sisters and my brothers, there is NO END OF THE ROAD for us! Praise to our Savior, Lord and King Jesus, rather than reaching the end of the road, our road ascends and turns to gold! Is our God AWESOME or what?! So, Sweet One, enjoy your Journey all the way to the exuberant shouts: ‘Here she comes!’
Revelation 21:
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.
27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Father, thank You for today’s sweet reminder to ENJOY this journey today and thank You for Your Promise of exuberant shouts of ‘here she (or he) comes!’ Thank You for ones we love who have already made this journey and have heard those exuberant shouts. Thank You for the love they gave us and for the love we will yet share with them. Thank You that there are no ends of the road for Your Children. And Father, we have some folks on our minds this morning: WC – You heard his request Lord and we ask You to cause it to be. And Callie, You know the cry of her heart and Lord we are entrusting her and the desires of her family to You. And then there is the rest of this list; precious people, loved by many, each of them in need of You and we thank You that You are there for them; some of them are not so sure of that, help them believe Lord. And Father, for our IDOK Troops we thank You for what You have already done for them and we thank You for watching over them today to keep them safe in mind, body and spirit. We continue in our prayer for a successful conclusion to this war, for the repentance of the Presidential Candidates, for the election of the One You have chosen for this Nation, for the Peace of Israel, the repentance of America and the revival of Your Church and all this we ask in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen and amen. W C and family. Richard and Emma and family. Oprah. Chris B. Maggie and Family. Josh. Donnie S. Renee’. Cathy’s friend and son. Odessa H. Kathy S. Glen Beck. Tonya and family. Dall T.
