IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2008
Whoever. What a word! Even though it appears to be a word to specify no one in particular, that is not really true is it? If your beloved notices a freshly baked pie on the kitchen counter and he asks who’s the pie for and you reply, ‘whoever’, he knows it’s for him, doesn’t he? That ‘whoever’ tells him it was not baked for a church social or for the neighbor next door – he’s the ‘whoever’ it’s for.
In my reading of 3:16 (by Max Lucado) today, Max told me that God uses WHOEVER. And when Abba says Whoever, He is SO specific. Whoever means You (and me). Let me give you a few of the Whoever-s found on page 66 and 67. But even more importantly they are found in your very own Bible!!
Matthew 10:32″Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. Is that a shouting for joy promise or what?!
Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. How often do we see folks who are trying to ‘find’ themselves? And what will they find when they ‘find’ themselves? Will they find ‘whoever’? Oh, I hope so because unless they find they are a ‘whoever’,based upon this verse, they lose even the ‘life’ they have here and now and eternity too. It is so important to KNOW our name is WHOEVER.
Mark 3:35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” I’m a whoever, you’re a whoever and these whoever(s) are God’s family. In the words of an adorable red haired three year old ‘wahoo’!! Something is lost in the translation, but you get the idea, right?
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. As we said, failure to know one is a ‘whoever’ is the fatal mistake of eternity.
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” Oh what a PROMISE. It’s as sure for the believer as for the rejector – whoever.
John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” I love being WHOEVER!! Don’t you?
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. NEVER drive away! This WHOEVER, is SO GRATEFUL for this!
John 11:26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” And this is the question of eternity; the most important question ever asked. And ALL will answer. A word of wisdom I heard Sunday, maybe you can use it with folks who are ‘undecided’ about choosing to believe they are ‘whoever’. Failure to choose is a CHOICE. NO ‘whoever’ (of the age of accountability) at any time is EVER undecided about JESUS. There’s no middle ground for ‘whoever’; we are either with Jesus or without Him; we are either for Him or against Him. Absolutes are not politically correct these days but you know what? This whoever is not one wit concerned about being politically correct. But you knew that, didn’t you?
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. The Invitation of a life time! ‘Whoever’ Come!! You’ll only be sorry if you say no.
Abba, I don’t know what You will do with this devotion today; don’t know where in the world it will go or how many whoever(s) will read it. I only ask that with each one reading that You confirm to him or her if they are with You or without You at the moment of reading. And Holy Spirit if you confirm they are without I am trusting You to give them grace to say YES, I come Lord Jesus. Thank You for the good report about Koreen. What an amazing recovery, even going home in a couple days. Thank You Abba. We are grateful and delighted! We say again, You do all things well. Even in those times when we don’t see what we want, still You do all things well. And so we bring these listed here and we pray for them. All need Your Strength. All need faith. All need to love You more deeply and we pray this for them and for us. We pray for our IDOK Troops, asking them to be protected again today and for each of them to know You are with them and for them to rest in You at all times. We pray for each family member to lean upon You and find You faithful for peace and provisions. We pray for the peace of Israel, for the repentance of America, and for the revival of Your Church. And as we look over this list, we especially intercede for the whoever(s) who are looking to find themselves and are looking in all the wrong places; forgive them Lord and rescue them from themselves we pray. And we pray for these here who have strayed from professing You, rescue them too Lord we pray. Thank You for each IDOK; thank You for this ministry – not my will but Your Will be done in all things that touch any one of us. Amen and amen. Koreen. Bernie. Malpas Family. Kevin M and Family.
