Come to the Place of Safe Keeping

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2008

Psalm 18:
1 I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
4 The pangs of death surrounded me,
And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
These verses sit right today. He is our strength; He is our place of safe keeping in the most harsh moments; in those moments when ungodliness presses in and when death looms.
Abba, many of us may be quiet this morning, in need of just resting in Your Safe Keeping; help us do that. Bless these listed here; You know each need and desire; You know what will honor You and bless them and it is for that we pray. We pray too for our IDOK Troops for their safety and their return home to family and friends more in love with You than when they deployed. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. Lord, speak to our IDOKs today, give them comfort and strength. Amen and amen.

Whatever

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2008

2 Corinthians 12:
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Whatever these things are that are concerning us, we can ask. Sometimes they depart, sometimes they don’t – not right away or maybe not until HOME. But either way He has told us His Grace is sufficient. Yet it takes more than just reading these words I have come to understand. The Text says His Strength is made perfect in our weakness but I think unless we choose to believe His Grace is sufficient for us, personally, in this particular ‘whatever’ we will not know His Strength, we will only ‘feel’ our weakness. Can we choose to believe, even BOAST that we have the Favor and Good Will of God resting upon us in the midst of this ‘whatever’? I wonder is the key to experiencing these verses to say aloud and within that the GOOD WILL OF GOD is resting upon us? Maybe if we couple these verses with some others we will have in our own minds a stronger foundation for believing.
Psalm 145: 17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

Whatever our whatevers today His GOOD WILL is resting upon us. I am determined to continue practicing this today. And your prayers for me are much appreciated. HE IS AWESOME.
Abba, You truly are AWESOME and Your Word is true and I am by Your Grace declaring that Your Good Will rests upon me. And not only upon me but upon ALL who call upon You in Truth. Thank You Abba. And this morning we pray for our IDOK Troops, we thank You for Your Good Will upon them today and their families; for the protection You are giving to them, for the ability to make wise choices. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. We pray for the election of the President who will turn us to You Lord Jesus. We pray for the defeat especially in California of laws that protect and even encourage behavior that You have said in Your Word is an abomination to You. And Lord if you will work through us to rescue souls. And we pray this morning for these listed here, each of these have whatevers in their lives and we pray for those whatevers to be removed and relieved and we entrust them now to You in Jesus Name. IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2008

We hope you have enjoyed your weekend with family and friends. We have visited with grandchildren this weekend and even have been blessed with a certain 10 year old to spend a few days with us. God is so good!! In fact we have had such a GOOD time this weekend we need to do a revisit today. Please forgive me. This comes from April 16, 2004.
If I have not told you before, let me tell you this morning… FATHER GOD IS AWESOME!!
Confessing time …. And time is short this morning… It is after 6:00 and I have less than 30 minutes to get this from my screen to yours…. I spent a lot of time this morning reading articles about war on terrorism and THE CARPENTER and the Journey and then Nehemiah 1 and you know what it is ALL tied together! That amazes me! HE IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Nehemiah 1
4 When I heard this, I sat down and wept and mourned for days and fasted and prayed [constantly] before the God of heaven,
5 And I said, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, Who keeps covenant, loving-kindness, and mercy for those who love Him and keep His commandments,
6 Let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to listen to the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You day and night for the Israelites, Your servants, confessing the sins of the Israelites which we have sinned against You. Yes, I and my father’s house have sinned. I am thinking we need to sit down and weep and mourn and fast and pray for America, for our President, for our men and women who are diligently defending us with their very lives.
7 We have acted very corruptly against You and have not kept the commandments, statutes, and ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. Sound like any nation you know?
8 Remember [earnestly] what You commanded Your servant Moses: If you transgress and are unfaithful, I will scatter you abroad among the nations; I’d like to see this Nation survive… How about you?
9 But if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the farthest part of the heavens [the expanse of outer space], yet will I gather them from there and will bring them to the place in which I have chosen to set My Name. Father still has His Hand on Israel and He will keep ALL His promises to her… He will to us too.
10 Now these are Your servants and Your people, whom You have redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand.
11 O Lord, let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere and fear Your name (Your nature and attributes); and prosper, I pray You, Your servant this day and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was cupbearer to the king. What does all this have to do with THE CARPENTER? We ARE His cupbearers! We are commissioned by HIM to bear the MESSAGE of His BODY broken and His BLOOD poured out for Israel, for the world… For you, for me, for our next door neighbor. I have some praying to do and as my momma says “putting feet to my prayers”. I love you all.
Matthew 28
17 And when they saw Him, they fell down and worshiped Him; but some doubted. There is still doubting going on
18 Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Shall we break our silence
19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days ( perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be). Shall we obey? Please pray for me; pray that I fail not to bear HIS MESSAGE even to my next door neighbor.
Father, I don’t know all that is going on here but I know You have a plan, tailor-made for each us, for how we, individually and collectively will bear Your Gospel to the world and I know that I have to get better at following Your plan for me and I pray for holy boldness. Sitting here at this screen it comes easier, next door I am not so bold. So I pray for holy boldness but more than that I pray I will love You and people so much that holy boldness would be impossible to not have. Father, I need lots of work; thank You that You are up to the challenge. I love You. Bless my people today.
And Abba today this is still my prayer for all our IDOKs and particularly for me. And today we bring our list of names, asking for Your Best for them. And for our IDOK Troops, protection in mind and body and spirit and yes even as You have promised and are working Your Plan, peace for Israel. And Abba, forgive America, give us space and grace to repent. And as we have prayed many times use IDOKs to bring Your Gospel to America and the World. We give you ourselves, Thy will be done. Amen and amen.

Whoever

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2008

Whoever. What a word! Even though it appears to be a word to specify no one in particular, that is not really true is it? If your beloved notices a freshly baked pie on the kitchen counter and he asks who’s the pie for and you reply, ‘whoever’, he knows it’s for him, doesn’t he? That ‘whoever’ tells him it was not baked for a church social or for the neighbor next door – he’s the ‘whoever’ it’s for.
In my reading of 3:16 (by Max Lucado) today, Max told me that God uses WHOEVER. And when Abba says Whoever, He is SO specific. Whoever means You (and me). Let me give you a few of the Whoever-s found on page 66 and 67. But even more importantly they are found in your very own Bible!!
Matthew 10:32″Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. Is that a shouting for joy promise or what?!
Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. How often do we see folks who are trying to ‘find’ themselves? And what will they find when they ‘find’ themselves? Will they find ‘whoever’? Oh, I hope so because unless they find they are a ‘whoever’,based upon this verse, they lose even the ‘life’ they have here and now and eternity too. It is so important to KNOW our name is WHOEVER.
Mark 3:35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” I’m a whoever, you’re a whoever and these whoever(s) are God’s family. In the words of an adorable red haired three year old ‘wahoo’!! Something is lost in the translation, but you get the idea, right?
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. As we said, failure to know one is a ‘whoever’ is the fatal mistake of eternity.
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” Oh what a PROMISE. It’s as sure for the believer as for the rejector – whoever.
John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” I love being WHOEVER!! Don’t you?
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. NEVER drive away! This WHOEVER, is SO GRATEFUL for this!
John 11:26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” And this is the question of eternity; the most important question ever asked. And ALL will answer. A word of wisdom I heard Sunday, maybe you can use it with folks who are ‘undecided’ about choosing to believe they are ‘whoever’. Failure to choose is a CHOICE. NO ‘whoever’ (of the age of accountability) at any time is EVER undecided about JESUS. There’s no middle ground for ‘whoever’; we are either with Jesus or without Him; we are either for Him or against Him. Absolutes are not politically correct these days but you know what? This whoever is not one wit concerned about being politically correct. But you knew that, didn’t you?
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. The Invitation of a life time! ‘Whoever’ Come!! You’ll only be sorry if you say no.
Abba, I don’t know what You will do with this devotion today; don’t know where in the world it will go or how many whoever(s) will read it. I only ask that with each one reading that You confirm to him or her if they are with You or without You at the moment of reading. And Holy Spirit if you confirm they are without I am trusting You to give them grace to say YES, I come Lord Jesus. Thank You for the good report about Koreen. What an amazing recovery, even going home in a couple days. Thank You Abba. We are grateful and delighted! We say again, You do all things well. Even in those times when we don’t see what we want, still You do all things well. And so we bring these listed here and we pray for them. All need Your Strength. All need faith. All need to love You more deeply and we pray this for them and for us. We pray for our IDOK Troops, asking them to be protected again today and for each of them to know You are with them and for them to rest in You at all times. We pray for each family member to lean upon You and find You faithful for peace and provisions. We pray for the peace of Israel, for the repentance of America, and for the revival of Your Church. And as we look over this list, we especially intercede for the whoever(s) who are looking to find themselves and are looking in all the wrong places; forgive them Lord and rescue them from themselves we pray. And we pray for these here who have strayed from professing You, rescue them too Lord we pray. Thank You for each IDOK; thank You for this ministry – not my will but Your Will be done in all things that touch any one of us. Amen and amen. Koreen. Bernie. Malpas Family. Kevin M and Family.
