IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2008

Forgive my tardiness this morning. As you know when I fail to prepare an IDOK on Monday (or any other day) Tuesday’s edition is late. But as in all things our ABBA is sovereign even over early morning delays in the Thompson House – and your homes too. Some heart breaking prayer requests have come in – one just moments ago. And this morning a dear sister-friend sent and email with Sunday’s Choir Special and it is so timely. The Song is More Than Conquerors. I would attach it here but it is in a format in which I am not familiar to attach. And searching for it on the WEB either YOUTUBE or written lyrics has not been productive and I am out of time. So lets just go with the Scripture Text from which the song was written.
Romans 8: 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written:
“ For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer Requests:
For the O’Brien Family. Their youngest son, Davis, who was born healthy. Shortly after Davis’s 1st birthday, he suffered a massive seizure. Davis is now three. The family has the chance to travel to China for groundbreaking stem cell treatment that is not allowed in the U.S. Due to recent legislation. They are trying to raise money for the trip.
If you would like more details, please email me.

Hi everybody. I regret that I am writing with bad news. Little Brooklyn (my cousin’s baby), who we thought was much better, is back in the hospital with a re-occurrence of her cancer. They went to Birmingham this time for a second opinion and they have started chemotherapy. They really need all of your prayers. It looks like they will be making several trips to Birmingham in the nest 6-8 months. They may eventually need money also because Shannon (my cousin) can’t work and will have to keep Brook at home away from sick people, plants and fresh fruits and veggies for the entire time. So she can’t go to a babysitter for a long time. Joe and I are planning a fundraiser for them and we hope to do that sometime in October. We will let you all know the plan as we find out their needs. Thank you so much And please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Here is a new website to keep up with her Progress

From Wanda:
Please pray for the people that were affected by the hurricanes. Gustov pretty much went straight up through LA. Baton Rouge was hit really hard (the worst in their history, I’m told). There are trees down everywhere (several of my neighbors have trees on their houses). Most of my neighborhood was without electricity from Monday a.m. Until Sunday. Only about 80% of the people in East BR parish have power even now. Traffic is a nightmare. There have been a lot of accidents due to lights not working at major intersections. And this is just what I’ve seen in Baton Rouge. My mom has a friend in Houma, LA (way south) and their power won’t be back on for 14-21 more days.
A Red Cross team and a Disaster Relief Team from AZ are stationed at our church giving out supplies, water and meals and going out to help people put tarps on houses, etc. We have given out thousands of tracts to the people who drive through for meals.
Well, you have been through this before, too, so I know you get the picture. You may want to shorten this, but please do pray for these people. And also for the ones affected by Ike and the other hurricanes. Thanks, Wanda
From Emma:
Our pastor here in Bigfork, Montana, Hal Curtis, is friends with the pastor of Sarah Palin’s pastor in Wasilla, Alaska. His name is David Pepper and the church is Full Gospel Church of Wasilla, AK.
Three days before Gov. Palin was announced by John McCain as his choice for VP, she came before her pastor to be anointed and prayed over for service to God. She didn’t tell the church what was going on….just that she needed their prayer support. During the mere days since the announcement, the pastor and the church have been bombarded with questions from the media. They are trying to get the word out to Christians all over the nation to pray for God’s protection of Sarah Palin and of their church. They suspect that the treatment of Jeremiah Wright will pale in comparison to what is coming their way as a conservative Christian body.
When the little Down’s Syndrome baby of Todd and Sarah Palin was dedicated a few months ago, their statement to the congregation was “This little boy is my pro-life statement.” According to David Pepper, Todd and Sarah are very strong in their faith in Jesus Christ and believe God has put them in this position to serve Him.
Let’s remember to pray for Gov. Palin and her family as they walk through this very trying time!
Thank you so much!
Vicky Creamer
P.s. Please pass this request on to other prayer warriors!

Romans 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Father, this is a sobering morning. These requests are more than a soul can bear without You. As Your Word is written Holy Spirit, I need You to make intercession for us for these. We not only ask that You interceded for these but for us as well so we can find words to enter into this with You, so we can be a part of the miracles You will make happen for these.
