IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2009
I like lighted candles. I like the ‘feel’ they bring to a room. I like the message they give to the people in the room. I think they say someone cares about you. Saturday was a day for lighting candles. And Saturday one particular candle giving off its loving glow moved me so much I captured its picture. Not only did I snap the picture but I wrote myself a note. I was thinking of you, my IDOKs, and a devotional thought for us. Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
I thought when candle wicks are lit, the light is the same, but the vessels in which we place the candles can be very different. Each of us who have exchanged our sins for the Righteous of Jesus, have the LIGHT of the world within us but no two of us are the same. He is the same Jesus in each of us but how HE shines out from within is as varied as we the vessels. A clear smooth vase disburses the light one way and a faceted vase another way. And hopefully all of us are disbursing His Light. After all who in their right mind would light a candle and place the candle under a bushel? These were my thoughts on Saturday. And tonight’s (Sunday) sermon by Dr. Moses Caesar was all about LIGHT. The text was Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. You don’t have to shine like someone else to be beautiful and valuable in ABBA’s Kingdom. In fact you CANNOT shine like any one else. You are a unique ‘candle holder’, so shine dear one. Keep your vessel clean and SHINE! It’s the best way to tell the people in your ‘room’ that you love them and it’s the only way to be His light in this dark, dark world.
ABBA I think You are up to more than I know with these LIGHT messages. This I know I am so grateful that You found me in this dark, dark world and placed Yourself the Light of the World within me. Thank You that You have cleaned this vessel and You are continually polishing me. Keep it up LORD, don’t stop. I want to be like the moon. It reflects the light of the sun because it has no light of its own and I LORD JESUS without You had no light of my own. You indeed are the LIGHT of the World. Shine LORD Shine through us.
