IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2009
This most recently passed Sunday was the Sunday we traditionally call Palm Sunday, signifying the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It was Passover Week. How fitting for Him to enter the City at that time as He was The Passover Lamb about to be slain for the sins of the world.
John 12 (Amplified Bible)
12 The next day a vast crowd of those who had come to the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went, they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!
14 And Jesus, having found a young donkey, rode upon it, [just] as it is written in the Scriptures,
15 Do not fear, O Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!
But they did fear, didn’t they? In just a few days they were screaming, Crucify Him, Crucify Him. Let His Blood be upon us and our children. (Matthew 27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.)
Fear. An emotion born in the pit of hell. It leads us to doubt that He really loves us. It leads us to doubt that He will really feed and clothe us. It leads us to deny our LORD.
Praise Him, Praise Him for His Blood that cleanses us from such grievous sins.
And just in case the cries of certain folks today tell you that Your Jesus tried to get out of going to the Cross for you, set your heart firmly here:
27 Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it].
28 [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.
29 The crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!
30 Jesus answered, This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake.
For our sake. Yes, all for our sakes. You and I will never know the HELL Jesus went through for us even before the Cross and yet that, I believe, pales in the face of what happened in and to Jesus on the cross when the Face of the Father turned from the Face of the Son. That once in eternity turning of His Father’s Face from Him was for this reason: so the Face of the Father could turn to you and me for all eternity. Rejoice and be not sad, Resurrection Day is coming!! Celebrate with all that is within You and FOR Whom is within you.
We are praying for Linda J and her family, Linda’s Uncle Fred passed from this life to Life Eternal on Sunday. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday and Linda will be ministering in music at service time. She covets our prayers.
We have a praise: Just wanted to thank you and everyone else for praying for Christopher (our friends’ five year old son). It does not appear that he has Hodgkin’s and his body is responding to antibiotics. The family is very grateful for all the wonderful prayers! LISA.
Vicki and Bob, missionaries in Cape Town have requests as well: Bob is having surgery on Thursday. A Friend, referred to as ‘G’ has been informed she will be laid off and she is requesting that the lay off be postponed to the end of April and a new job be offered to her. CAROLYN.
We are adding a family to our prayer list today: Tamra and Family.
Our words are frail and inadequate to speak and our minds are too finite to comprehend Your love for us and what You have done for us. Holy Spirit I pray that You will use this Resurrection Celebration Season to impact us and empower us to comprehend more fully the sacrifice that has been paid for us. And I pray we will fall head over heels in love with the Savior and surrender to Him as LORD of all we are and ever hope to be. Thank You that Christopher does not have hodgkins disease. And we pray for Bob’s surgery on Thursday; we pray for a textbook perfect procedure and recovery for him. We pray too for G that You will ensure her enough employment to meet all her needs and even some of her wants. Undergird Linda, cause her to play on Wednesday with grace and beauty; comfort her and her family with Your Peace. Continue I pray to improve Jerry’s mother’s health and I pray for Cynthia too; You know her needs and I pray You will enable her to accept all that You desire for her. And we come again with our request for Tamra and her family – LORD, be it as You will. Keep safe our IDOK Troops and bring them home safe and sound at the appointed time we pray. You know our cry for the Obama Administration and for this Country. You know the needs of the Church for revival and for revival we pray. And now for each one listed here, we pray for them to know You are with them, to know You love them, and for You to bless them and us with correction quickly, to fill them and us with Your Spirit, and to heal as will honor You and bless them, and whatever else You will that is what we ask for them. Amen and amen.
