How Can This Be?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 2009

Just some quick notes that may or may not make it to the final send. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. Now to find just where that is recorded in the TEXT. (John 14:1“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.) Hey, I just realized I have that memorized. Now to work on remembering John 14:1.

A heart that does not believe there is a God who loves her (him) is a troubled soul. And a heart that does not believe and rely upon Jesus the One and Only is a soul in grave trouble.

Lets read the remained of the quote.

2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

If you have a red letter Bible, these words are written in red as they came from the mouth of Jesus as He walked here in GodMan Flesh. He is still speaking these words today and we hear them by the Holy Spirit. Aren’t you glad?

Yes we know the way. He has shown us the way. He is the way. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Are you thinking about crucifixion day? There has never been a day like that day and there never shall be again. Others had been crucified previously and others were crucified after, but only on that day did the Son of God die. His Spirit separated from His Body and He died. His heart stopped beating, His chin dropped to His chest. The very Son of God died. And those who loved Him wept and wailed and mourned. They were devastated. Their world as they had known it crumbled into nothingness. Our Lord’s Body was taken from the cross shortly before 6:00 PM. His Mother, the Eleven, Mary and the other women had three nights and three days of ‘how can this be?’ They put Him in a cold, dark grave and went home to dark and lonely houses. Maybe they moved about in those houses in a daze, questioning everything He said to them and then berating themselves for questioning. But who wouldn’t? We are so what we can see with our physical eyes oriented, until by faith we see JESUS ALIVE! Oh that more and more we would by faith SEE Jesus Alive! See Him Alive by the bed of a sick child, by a stack of unpaid bills, by the operating table, by a son or daughter in a far away place, by your side when no one else is, and especially on ‘crucifixion day’ when you lay that precious body in the tomb, we must see HIM ALIVE. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Again we come with our prayers for others, for these written here, praying for their spirits to be renewed. Praying they will by faith see You standing with them, providing everything they need. We pray for our IDOK Troops for their safety and protection and safe returns home to family and friends. We pray for this situation wherein pirates have captured an American vessel. We pray these evil men will be stopped and we pray the hostages will be returned home to their families and we pray America will respond with wisdom and strength. Strength that will prevent other such attacks. The more I hear and read the more I see the leaders of America are anything but leaders, they are influenced, even controlled by flesh and Satan. I trust You to care for me in impossible situations and yet I don’t want to see America reduced to nothing. Please have mercy on us; grant grace and space to repent. Pour out Your Spirit of conviction with power. Holy Spirit, persuade men, women and children that we are sinners and Jesus is the only Savior. We are continuing to pray for Chandler, for Doug, for all those who are sick in any way and we ask You to heal them. In all our lives we pray not our will but Your Will be done. Thank You for praying that in the Garden and making sure we get to live with You forever. Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2009

As this writing begins it is Tuesday just after noon and I am sitting to review my notes from my three delicious sessions with Beth Moore. Don’t you think delicious is a good word? The Word of God is often referred to as meat, bread, etc. And the ‘meals’ served Friday and Saturday were more than delicious to me. Gosh, I hope no one there considered them distasteful meals. That would be so sad!

Our Text for the weekend was I Thessalonians 5:16-24

16 Be joyful always;

17 pray continually;

18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not put out the Spirit’s fire;

20 do not treat prophecies with contempt.

21 Test everything. Hold on to the good.

22 Avoid every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.

I think I will be unable to do justice in reporting this weekend’s sessions to you, I just hope to keep distortions of what Beth actually said to nil or none.

The sum of the messages was the means to becoming wholly whole. And Wholly Whole is to be holy through and through. Holy in Spirit, Soul and Body. This weekend I am face to face with the knowledge that I am NOT wholly whole and I will not be until I see Jesus Face to Face. But the great news is I CAN get a whole lot closer to Wholly Wholeness than I am right now. And you can too. These are the steps.

1. A personal commitment to Joy.

2. A daily focused time of prayer as well as conversational prayer throughout the day.

3. Giving thanks IN all things; being grateful. She said the grateful soul values what God values.

Lets come at this now from the back door. When we consistently ‘rub elbows’ with a sister or brother who is not consistently living in joy, we should know that soul is not whole. Something is amiss. And the question is, are we wholly whole enough to get in that sister or brother’s business? Beth said we are qualified for God to commission us to ‘get all up in a sister’s business’ IF we are living out steps 1, 2 and 3. If we are not consistently living out 1, 2 and 3, He has NOT called us to messing in another’s business. Beth made a point to tell us that if we WANTED to get into a sister’s business, He for sure had not called us to do so. I see what she means. You too? I’ve experienced what she means. You too?

She told us of a time in her life when she was living amiss and only ONE sister came to her to say ‘Beth, I’m worried about you. Something is wrong.’ I Praise God for the ONE! What if there had not been that one? How sad would it be for a sister to be practicing attitudes or deeds of unholiness and no one was close enough and whole enough to call her on it? We don’t want that to happen, do we? And it won’t if we consistently live 1, 2, 3.

Another Chandler update: Looks like he will have the surgery at 1:00 PM tomorrow (Wednesday). The area is very near the speech part of the brain, but God has a steady hand of healing. Carolyn.

Father, thank You for allowing me the privileges of this passed weekend. My request and my desire is to be as wholly whole this side of Heaven as possible. I spent many years living amiss and many years living less than as whole as I could have and You have been gracious and even now I know You can take me where I am and redeem the time unwisely spent. And that is what I am asking You to do. And not just for me but for every willing IDOK reading these words and praying this prayer along with me.

When the surgeons set their hands to operate on Chandler, I am asking You to guide their hands, make them accurate and precise. Please restore Chandler, allowing him to retain his speech. I don’t know Chandler. Don’t know anything about him other than he means so much to someone. So much that prayer has been requested for him. And yet knowing so little about him I am asking You to raise him up to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And not being that specific for these listed here, still we pray for them. Not being privy to their individual needs we pray for them that in whatever way they need You, they will find You. We pray for our IDOK Troops specifically to be protected in spirit and soul and body and to come home to families and friends, whole. And, of course, we bring our daily prayer for the Peace of Israel. ABBA, thank You for Israel. Thank You that Jesus came through them and for them and for us and to us. As they celebrate Passover, draw them to Jesus I pray. And we that have been re-born, give us great love for Israel, give us great love for all peoples, particularly those who have so far rejected Your Gift of Salvation in Christ alone. Please have mercy on the people of America; pour out on us in these days in measure enough to convince people of their sins, of Jesus’ Righteousness and the certainty of Judgment to come on those who reject the GREAT SALVATION You have offered in Christ Jesus alone. For as long as You can, please spare America; give space and grace for repentance, LORD. And in this fire up we, Your saints, to unashamedly preach, teach and live holy at any cost. Thank You again for Beth; undergird her strongly, keep her testimony pure and faithful; protect her on every side from the plans of Satan and we ask it all in the Name of Yeshu’a, the sweetest, dearest, most holy Name in the Universe. Amen and amen.

Faces

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2009

This most recently passed Sunday was the Sunday we traditionally call Palm Sunday, signifying the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It was Passover Week. How fitting for Him to enter the City at that time as He was The Passover Lamb about to be slain for the sins of the world.

John 12 (Amplified Bible)

12 The next day a vast crowd of those who had come to the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went, they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!

14 And Jesus, having found a young donkey, rode upon it, [just] as it is written in the Scriptures,

15 Do not fear, O Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!

But they did fear, didn’t they? In just a few days they were screaming, Crucify Him, Crucify Him. Let His Blood be upon us and our children. (Matthew 27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.)

Fear. An emotion born in the pit of hell. It leads us to doubt that He really loves us. It leads us to doubt that He will really feed and clothe us. It leads us to deny our LORD.

Praise Him, Praise Him for His Blood that cleanses us from such grievous sins.

And just in case the cries of certain folks today tell you that Your Jesus tried to get out of going to the Cross for you, set your heart firmly here:

27 Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it].

28 [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.

29 The crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!

30 Jesus answered, This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake.

For our sake. Yes, all for our sakes. You and I will never know the HELL Jesus went through for us even before the Cross and yet that, I believe, pales in the face of what happened in and to Jesus on the cross when the Face of the Father turned from the Face of the Son. That once in eternity turning of His Father’s Face from Him was for this reason: so the Face of the Father could turn to you and me for all eternity. Rejoice and be not sad, Resurrection Day is coming!! Celebrate with all that is within You and FOR Whom is within you.

We are praying for Linda J and her family, Linda’s Uncle Fred passed from this life to Life Eternal on Sunday. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday and Linda will be ministering in music at service time. She covets our prayers.

We have a praise: Just wanted to thank you and everyone else for praying for Christopher (our friends’ five year old son). It does not appear that he has Hodgkin’s and his body is responding to antibiotics. The family is very grateful for all the wonderful prayers! LISA.

Vicki and Bob, missionaries in Cape Town have requests as well: Bob is having surgery on Thursday. A Friend, referred to as ‘G’ has been informed she will be laid off and she is requesting that the lay off be postponed to the end of April and a new job be offered to her. CAROLYN.

We are adding a family to our prayer list today: Tamra and Family.

Our words are frail and inadequate to speak and our minds are too finite to comprehend Your love for us and what You have done for us. Holy Spirit I pray that You will use this Resurrection Celebration Season to impact us and empower us to comprehend more fully the sacrifice that has been paid for us. And I pray we will fall head over heels in love with the Savior and surrender to Him as LORD of all we are and ever hope to be. Thank You that Christopher does not have hodgkins disease. And we pray for Bob’s surgery on Thursday; we pray for a textbook perfect procedure and recovery for him. We pray too for G that You will ensure her enough employment to meet all her needs and even some of her wants. Undergird Linda, cause her to play on Wednesday with grace and beauty; comfort her and her family with Your Peace. Continue I pray to improve Jerry’s mother’s health and I pray for Cynthia too; You know her needs and I pray You will enable her to accept all that You desire for her. And we come again with our request for Tamra and her family – LORD, be it as You will. Keep safe our IDOK Troops and bring them home safe and sound at the appointed time we pray. You know our cry for the Obama Administration and for this Country. You know the needs of the Church for revival and for revival we pray. And now for each one listed here, we pray for them to know You are with them, to know You love them, and for You to bless them and us with correction quickly, to fill them and us with Your Spirit, and to heal as will honor You and bless them, and whatever else You will that is what we ask for them. Amen and amen.

Starting Over

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2009

Surely it is Monday already. My plan is to be brief this morning. Since returning from the conference, I have not sat quietly to digest the HUGENESS of God’s Word given by His Servant, Beth.

My beloved is on his way to the hospital to see his mother before going to the office. She slipped out of bed this morning a little before 5:00. The nurse assured us she is okay but he wants to see for himself.

A passage for us to ponder as we pray today:

1 Thessalonians 5 (Amplified Bible)

15 See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody.

16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always);

17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];

18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

19 Do not quench (suppress or subdue) the [Holy] Spirit;

Just had an update on Chandler. The first surgery was a success, the doctors say, but Chandler says it has been the worst days of his life.

Before they can do any corrective surgery, he must have two seizures. He had one yesterday and needs to have another before Wednesday.

They area where they think they will be working pertains to his speech.

Sounds terrible but God is in the miracle healing business.

Thanks so much for your prayers for Chandler and his family.

Let you know when I hear more. Carolyn

We are also praying for Mrs. Walker this morning, she’s in her 90s and weary with earth’s journey.

Father, You know the beginnings of this day for each of us. You know our goals and our aims. You know our disappoints when we fail to accomplish what we believe we should have. And so in this moment we accept Your Grace to start fresh now in this moment. What is done is done and what is before us is opportunity to watch You work in us. We are eager to see just what You can do with a surrendered spirit, soul and body. We confess we must have Your help even to surrender and it is for that we pray right now. Thank You that mother was not re-injured this morning; enable her to receive Your peace at this time. And we pray for Mrs. Walker. You know the thoughts and desires of her family and You know her own desires. You know Your will for her and we can ask no more than that for her now. Thank You for the successful surgery for Chandler. And more surgery is needed but he needs to have a seizure before Wednesday. LORD, that is beyond my knowledge but what I know is You love Chandler and You have a plan for him and it is for that Plan I pray now, he and his family. And these are not all. We have our IDOK Troops on our minds, desiring them to be safe in spirit, soul and body; desiring for them to come home safely; desiring for them to live abundant, holy lives. And others, these listed here too. We confess they are not just names on a list but people You love. HOLY SPIRIT, take our individual and collective hearts and pray for them and do for them what You will this very day. Revive spirits, rest and recover wounded and broken souls and redeem and use for Your glory the bodies of Your People for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.
