IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MAY 25, 2009

It has been a back to back, full to the rim weekend and even with an afternoon nap, I am tired to the bone; so I will be brief. We just want to wish you all a safe and filled with peace Memorial Day. I did a little, very little, reading just before sitting to write, and Memorial Day did not begin as a ‘celebration’ but rather as a time of reflection and to honor those who had died defending the United States of America. Since its inception it has expanded to include remembering Soldiers who have given their blood for America, surviving Soldiers who have served and those who are still serving this Nation, and in some quarters people also include any family members or friends who have died. And somewhere along the way grilling hot dogs and hamburgers to be served with potato salad and other trimmings in back yards and public parks became the order of the day. And, I’m not saying it should not be done, it just saddens me that not only Memorial Day but all the ‘holidays’ have become celebrations that are mostly about us and having a good time rather than honoring the One or ones for whom the observances began.

Anyway, if you have the day off from the work place tomorrow, go ahead and grill those hamburgers and hot dogs, oh what the heck, throw some shrimp on there too and have a really good feast and before you dive in to all that delicious fare, remember! Remember the God of Creation Who birthed this Nation, Who called men and woman to exalt Him and build the United States of America. He’s still calling. So are we celebrating a ‘good time’ so much that being still and knowing He is God is no longer appealing? Yes, for the people at large, I think that is true. But you, my sisters and brothers, I see you practicing the better way. And to Him be all the glory for it! And to you I say: Thank you. So, go ahead: Reflect, Praise, Pray and Celebrate, and in that order, Okay?

Deuteronomy 32:

43 Celebrate, nations, join the praise of His people.

He avenges the deaths of His servants,

Pays back His enemies with vengeance,

and cleanses His land for His people.

Oh yes, ABBA, come and cleanse this Land, Your Land for we Your People and begin with us. Make us clean Oh, Lord, make us clean. We know that in You were are clean but our feet pick up a lot of dirt and grim walking this life and we forever need Your washing.

We continue to pray that You will heal Betty. Thank You that Robin H.’s test results were good and recovery is expected. Thank You that Doug is home again. We are pleased and grateful for that, surgery is set for Wednesday and, Lord, we just expect You to bless. We particularly pray for our IDOK Soldiers, praying for their protection and safety in spirit, soul and body, praying they will all come home, safe and sound. And praying for family and friends today as they remember those who made it all the way HOME from the battlefield; comfort them today and send someone into their path to say thank you to them for the sacrifice they and their loved one made. ABBA, I am struggling for words here as I think about You and what You did to bring this Nation into existence. You did it; no group of men or woman could have dreamed that big or fought that long without You giving the dream and the strength. You did it Lord, we didn’t. Thank You. And now as You gave the dream and the strength to birth it; please give the dream and strength in us to revive it I pray. Bless our IDOKs as they sleep tonight. I pray their sleep to be sweet and I pray You will be first in their thoughts even before their eyes open to the light of the dawn. You have given so much to me personally in just the last 48 hours, and much, much more in all the days I have lived. So much, ABBA, thank You. Thank You for this ministry; thank you for every woman (and man) that sits on the other side of this screen, bless them and grow them up into the image of Jesus, and me too. Amen and amen.

ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. And Lord some weeks later since this prayer began we have word from one of those Alabama officials that he wants our prayers, that he is mindful of You, that he does love You and obviously he is well acquainted with Your Word. And ABBA I am so delighted and grateful for this man and for others like him, so for each of them (and You know who they are, Lord) we pray that You will anoint and empower them to stand firm and holy in these places of service You have given them and Lord please bring others alongside to stand with them and help them. And as he suggested move us to be involved in the political process with more than just our prayers according to the individual will You have for each of us. Again, Lord, thank You for this news, thank You for what You are doing. Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2009

Genesis 50:

19 Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?

20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

This is what Joseph said to his brothers, the brothers who put him in a pit, planning to leave him there to die and later decided to sell him into Egyptian slavery. Joseph in the ‘natural’ had good and more than ample reason to hate his brothers and take vengeance upon them, but he didn’t. In a sense we can say the reason he did not is what separates the men from the boys. A ‘natural boy’ would have made his brothers suffer. A ‘natural boy’ would have heaped retribution in triplicate upon them. But this man forgave, and moreover was proactive in bestowing blessings upon them. Why? Again, that is what separates the men from the boys or the women from the girls – yielding to the Spirit of God. I was about to say the Spirit of God within. But the Spirit of God did not indwell Joseph; for the Holy Spirit in Joseph’s day had not been given to man to indwell man. At that time He was UPON believers not within them. Joseph yielded to God as He hovered over and as He impressed His Will and Ways to Joseph. And today, we who have Him WITHIN, how much more are we without excuse when we render evil for evil and cursing for cursing? How much more are we without excuse when we respond in the ‘natural’? I tell you we are without excuse. We have no excuse – not even the fact that we are natural beings (humans) — because we have the Super-Natural Spirit of the Living God dwelling within these frames. We are without excuse when we act like ‘natural’ boys and girls instead of ‘Super-Natural’ Men and Women of God.

Our praying for Doug is not done. The cancer is back and he is back in the hospital. These things our finite minds cannot understand so we pray and we know our God is GOOD. The latest word on Betty is that it is a kidney infection, surgery will not be needed; but must find the right antibiotic to combat this. In these two and all our loved ones we say what Satan brings for evil, our God is turning to the good.

And we are adding Robin H., Jr. to our list. He passed out at work and is in the hospital for heart tests. He had several stints put in last year.

ABBA, thank You for gentle reminders and not so gentle reminders of what You not only expect of us but what is reasonable for us to give. You have told us in Romans 12:1 that just the reasonable service we owe You is to be living sacrifices; that certainly means yielding to You, Holy Spirit, rather than responding in the natural, doesn’t it? It is not an easy thing for us, especially me, because I forget so quickly and revert to the ‘natural’ before I even realize what I have done – did it today even after writing this devotion. Thank You for reminding me. I’m sorry. Thank You that You are making progress with me. Thank You that You are not frustrated with me and thank You that You will get us all to the place You are calling us. Thank You that Doug’s throat issue is not cancer. We are trusting You with all his medical needs. We pray for Betty, bring down the fever and get into her little body the antibiotics that will get rid of the infection. And comfort her Mom and Dad, Bev and the rest of the family. We pray too for Robin H knowing very little about him but he is loved, by family and You. We’d like to hear that whatever these tests indicate it is something that can be remedied and he can be restored, so if You will, it will be so. We pray again for David Y, in the natural it looks to us that time is short and yet we know You can lengthen his days. So ABBA if there is work yet for David to do we pray You will restore him to that work. And we pray for each listed here. Every one of them is loved and is important especially to the one who requested their name be placed here, so we pray for them in whatever need they have that they will experience You as their Provider, Healer, Savior and Lord. We pray for our IDOK Troops to be protected in spirit, soul and body and to be returned home at the appointed time, safe and sound. We pray for the peace of Israel. We know You have plans for Israel and they are in Your Hands, thank You. We too are in Your Hands and we are so grateful. We are trusting You for the cleansing of this Nation, Washington and all 50 States. We are trusting You to cleanse and revive Your Church too. And as I send this devotion to our IDOKs, I pray for them that they will rest well tonight and awake with You first on their minds. Thank You for this ministry, make it all that You desire and make me Your humble servant for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

Gates Are Good!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2009

I have for two days thus far this week walked, each day, for at least 30 minutes. And both days I have prayed, aloud, as I walked. I have no blue tooth so there is a real possibility that my neighbors think I am talking to myself – so be it. In my prayer walks I talk to ABBA about many things and many people and this morning I talked to Him about parents and children, I included the grandparents too (I am a grandparent). My bases for the prayer came the other day as I was listening to a group of four and five year olds talk. What I heard upset me. Children so young should not even know about knifing and shooting and killing. I have no doubt they garnered this information from television, movies and video games. And yes these were children of CHRISTIAN parents. I prayed that parents and grandparents would take charge of what they allow their children and grandchildren to see and hear. And one young family, in particular, came to mind and I praised God for them. They are so, so careful with television, movies and games – they know how to say no. They just don’t let it in the house. But they don’t just say no, they invest themselves into giving godly alternatives.

I finished my walk just in time to catch Wednesday’s With Beth. And would you believe today’s session was right on with my praying? She spoke about our gates and what we let in and what we keep out. The text she is using is Deuteronomy 33:24-25

24 About Asher he said:

“Most blessed of sons is Asher;

let him be favored by his brothers,

and let him bathe his feet in oil.

25 The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze,

and your strength will equal your days.

And today in particular the subject was the bolts of our gates. We want the gates around ourselves and our families to be as iron and bronze. We want our children and our grandchildren to be safe, we want them to grow up to be holy, and godly in their conduct, but that is not as likely to happen if we let evil come and live within our gates.

Beth said she was listening the other day to her local Christian radio station and a young mother called in so upset that her 13 year old was on the computer 5 hours a day and she just did not know what to do about it. Beth looked at us in that so Beth Moore style and said, “POWER OFF!” Then she counseled us to stop being AFRAID of our children and TAKE CHARGE! I am thinking there is a lot we must stop being afraid of and take charge. Question is. . . . will I? Will you?

A number of hours have lapsed since we began this edition and I am still thinking about the children; what they hear, what they see and how it is affecting them. And not just the children, ABBA, be we as adults too. I think we have become so de-sensitized to sin that we don’t even notice anymore. Forgive us; bless us with sharp conviction. Bless us with the courage to say no. Bless us with the courage to ‘power off’ ungodly movies and games and whatever else we are giving our eyes and time to. We did not deal with it in this devotion but I treasure the second part of the verse – my strength will equal my days. I believe that ABBA. When my gates are iron and bronze; when I am careful with my eye and ear gates, then my strength will equal my days – You promised and I believe You. I will be empowered by You to power off the stuff that is not wholesome, not redemptive, not edifying. I pray You will invade our homes like an army, convicting and changing us for Your glory and for the eternal good of our children and grandchildren.

And Lord, we pray for our IDOK Troops too, encourage them to screen and carefully choose what they participate in. Please keep them safe and bring them home safely at the appointed time. Bless too these that are written here with health, safety and provisions. Thank You for this ministry and I pray it will be all that You desire. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN. I Like, I Don’t Like — Does It Matter?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2009

It is just two minutes before seven o’clock as I begin this IDOK and if you know me well you know that means I am off my schedule, way off. And you know that getting off my schedule … well lets just say I don’t like it. Since I last sat at this screen with you I’ve had marvelous times and not so marvelous times. The marvelous times were when I was praising Jesus either by telephone or email with others of like Christian Faith and the not so marvelous times were thinking about me and what I like or don’t like. And yes it matters; oh does it matter – how I deal with it that is! Yesterday gave me some things I didn’t like so much that it was difficult to go to sleep last night. That is not good. And that is no one’s fault but my own. Why am I telling you all this? I need something to put on this screen :-) and I am leading up to an illustration that our ABBA is so loving, so kind and so patient. But you already knew that, didn’t you? And maybe NONE of you need what I needed this morning; but, just in case some of you do, here goes. It comes from Max Lucado’s book Grace for the Moment. What a title! Page 161 for May 20 taken from his other book In The Grip of Grace. Oh, my goodness how glad we must be that we are in the Grip of Grace.

“God is Angry at Evil

So put all evil things out of your life. . . . These things make God angry.

Colossians 3:5-6

Many don’t understand God’s anger because they confuse the wrath of God with the wrath of man. The two have little in common. Human anger is typically self-driven and prone to explosions of temper and violent deeds. We get ticked off because we’ve been overlooked, neglected, or cheated. This is the anger of man. It is not, however, the anger of God.

God doesn’t get angry because He doesn’t get His way. He gets angry because disobedience always results in self-destruction. What kind of father sits by and watches his child hurt himself?”

Certainly not our ABBA! He’s sends Max Lucado along or some other messenger to pour in the oil and the wine on our wounded soul – even when the wound is self-inflicted. Is He awesome or what?!

Luke 10: 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’

36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Update on David Y: I thought I would give IDOK’S an update on David Y as much as i can, he had a bone scan today and no results as yet but he does have stage 4 cancer in the lungs we already know, as you can see it will nothing less than a miracle to help him, please continue to pray for him, love in CHRIST roye1937

ABBA, thank You for messengers that pour in the oil and the wound; and thank You Holy Spirit for conviction seasoned just right. You are the One and Only Great God. And You let us be Yours. Amazing Grace! Thank You that we are held in the grip of Your amazing grace. And ABBA we pray for Your Amazing Grace for David Y. And we pray for Roy as he ministers to David, You know the need, You know what You desire to accomplish in these men and this medical crises and it is for Your divine and loving will that we pray. We also pray for Your divine and loving will for every one listed here today and particularly for our IDOK Troops and Families. And for those waiting for answers, thank You those answers will come right on time even though the Evil One thinks he is delaying them. We renew of our prayer for cleansing of Washington and all 50 States; we renew our prayer for revival of the Saints and protection, feeding and healing of the children all around the world. And I pray for each of our IDOKs on the other side of this screen, I am so glad they are there and I pray for them collectively and individually for wisdom in what they put their hands to today and for discernment in what they allow their eyes to see and their ears to hear and I pray they will measure their hurts, their likes and dislikes according to Your Word and, ABBA, the most needy one of this answer to pray is me. Amen and amen.
