IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2009

I am a little behind with my Me, Myself & Lies study; need to catch up before Beth does her posting to the Blog today.

Yesterday we were studying about ‘assumptions’; something we all do and something that leads to ‘faulty thinking’ as Jennifer phrases it. Folks in Scripture did it too. Take Martha for instance. Lets look in on her as she speaks to Jesus. John 11: 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. Do you think we are assuming, if we think she made this statement based on an assumption? Do you think Martha’s assumption was that if Jesus had ‘cared’ He would have come BEFORE her brother died and would have kept him from dying? Do we think that way about Him sometimes too? And we are wrong, aren’t we?

3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”

4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” This was Mary that anointed Jesus’ feet; this was Mary who sat at His feet worshipping and hanging on His every word. It’s the same Martha who wanted the meal to be just right for Him. Jesus, the God-Man, interacted one on one, face to face with these three, they were close friends. How human of Martha to assume He did them wrong by not showing up when they called Him. I agree with Jennifer that was ‘faulty thinking’. Surely Martha, like we, did not go to the bottom of this faulty thinking before she latched on to it. To think such about Him would be to say within the walls of our mind, ‘You’ve been in my home, You have sat at my table, You have had intimate conversations with me and now You treat me this way, what kind of man are you’? Can you see it? Lets read more. ⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

⁶ So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

⁷ Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.”

⁸ The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?”

And it says Jesus LOVED Martha, Mary and Lazarus and yet He deliberately did not go/come when they wanted Him to. I have experienced His deliberate delays. I think maybe you have too, and like me, you have seen AFTER the delay that it was perfect timing, haven’t we? We will again.

One more thing before we go to prayer. Did you notice the peril Jesus was going into when He went to Bethany? The last time He was in the area, the people tried to stone Him. He came to us from Heaven at great peril and price to Himself. How human we are when we assume His deliberate delays are unkind.

Lets us look up, our redemption draweth neigh.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Dear Friends, Donald’s surgery is finished and he will be able to go home sometime later today. He made it through the surgery without any problems. The cancer will be sent to a lab and if it is more than one millimeter deep at any spot on it, he will need further procedures. The doctor did not elaborate on this point. They did not remove any lymph nodes…yet. PLEASE continue to remember him through this process. Thank you, La Juanna

Doug is seeing doctors today, Thursday and Friday; his conditions remains about the same so far; prayers needed for he and Claudia as she stands to give care.

An update for KC. He had 4 more stents placed a week ago in his 100% blocked artery (a risk the surgeon took) but now he has recovered 100% and no blockages. Praise the Lord! and more good news; his son Chad B is returning from Afghanistan on Wed, July 8th, flying into Andrews Airforce Base. He is going to be home for good! I want to thank everyone for all the prayers. Please keep Katelyn B (my daughter) on the list as we continue to fight for a cure with Rett Syndrome. LORD GOD and Father, thank You for always coming to our rescue at just the right time and thank You for Your love and grace and mercy that forgives us when our thinking is faulty as we wait for You to arrive. Thank You LORD Jesus for the unfathomable peril and price You paid to be our Savior, Lord and Rescuer. And as we consider and take in what You have done, we know it is safe and right for us to entrust these listed here for their rescues and deliverances. Thank You for the good we have seen You do on behalf of KC and thank You for the good You are doing for others that we have not seen yet. Thank You for Chad’s homecoming and we speak safety over it. We speak life and safety and protection over all our IDOK Troops. And ABBA I am asking You for blessings and favor and rescues perfectly timed for every needy IDOK today and every needy reader of the Blog entry. ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. And Lord some weeks later since this prayer began we have word from one of those Alabama officials that he wants our prayers, that he is mindful of You, that he does love You and obviously he is well acquainted with Your Word. And ABBA I am so delighted and grateful for this man and for others like him, so for each of them (and You know who they are, Lord) we pray that You will anoint and empower them to stand firm and holy in these places of service You have given them and Lord please bring others alongside to stand with them and help them. And as he suggested move us to be involved in the political process with more than just our prayers according to the individual will You have for each of us. Again, Lord, thank You for this news, thank You for what You are doing. Amen and amen.

Good Monday Morning Dear IDOKs.We hope you have had a weekend of holy fun.

Psalm 118:23-25 (King James Version)

23 This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

And this morning we begin again.

This is the LORD’s doing; the sunrise, a new day stretched out before us, let it be marvelous in our eyes.Let us see the marvelous displays of His love for us today.And yes let us REJOICE and be glad today. Be glad that HE our God and Creator and King and Father has gone before us, has come behind us and is with us and has made this day that we may PROSPER. It is HIS good pleasure to prosper us today, it is our part to rejoice and let Him be Marvelous in our eyes.

Yes, ABBA save us, we beseech You now to save us from grumbling and complaining about this day but inspire us to rejoice and in our rejoicing we know You will send prosperity. And above silver and gold we ask You to send spiritual prosperity. As we interact with family and friends today we pray we will seek spiritual prosperity for them and for ourselves.We pray for tender hearts, tender to Your voice today, tender and open before You to confess sins and wrongdoings and turn from them quickly.We pray for hearts tender and open, ready to hear and obey Your instructions today.We pray for ready hands and feet to go about doing good today for our families and friends and neighbors, near and far. IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2009

It is the third verse of the song that speaks most poignantly to me today. Maybe it will you too.

This is my Father's world.  

O let me ne’er forget

that though the wrong seems oft so strong,

God is the ruler yet.

This is my Father’s world:

why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!

God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Let me not forget that though the wrong seems often so strong, God is the ruler yet. We do not have far to look to see rampant wrong, very strong; for some it is even in their own homes; the fact that God is ruler yet may be all that gives strength to keep on keeping on. To Him be the glory!

I opened The Word and read this:

Isaiah 55 (Amplified Bible)

1 WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing].

This is the picture that formed for me as I read. At a busy intersection stands a Man, not an unattractive man, but not the ‘holly-wood’ type either; but a Man with a message and more than a message – He has passion. You can see it. You can feel it. And He says, ‘WAIT, LISTEN! Before you walk on by, listen – are you thirsty? I have water. There’s no charge to you. Come. Come and drink. Come, drink till you are full. No, really! There’s no charge to you. I bought it for you – all of you. And not just water – whatever you need, I purchased it. Come, come and receive. Won’t you’?

An interesting monologue, wouldn’t you say? Have you heard a similar one? Is the GOD-MAN offering you something today? Has HE said WAIT, Listen! And are you? Has HE made you an offer that you shouldn’t refuse? HE has me. Am I foolish enough to refuse? Oh I hope not! Are you? And then HE says:

2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy].

3 Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David.

Got a dry and parched soul? Hear HIS promise: come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive —

Your soul WILL revive. Oh! What a promise! And don’t we need it so much? Wouldn’t that give us the FREEDOM to make us really FREE?

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Most of the mass in Katie’s brain was removed, there are still unanswered questions and treatments to come. Please pray as you are prompted by the Holy Spirit.

Donald 1’s surgery was postponed until Monday; our continued prayers are needed and appreciated.

ABBA, we do want to be a holy display of Your Glory, more beautiful, more thrilling than the most beautiful fireworks displayed in any night sky we have ever seen or will see. Groom us and train us to be a brilliant display, shining brightly against the backdrop of this dark society surrounding us. And don’t let these just be words we type, words we read, but really words we pray and mean. Move us and shape us so that even our closest family sees the transformation in us.

And today we are praying for Holly asking for her medical condition to be cleared and for her health to be restored. And we pray for family dynamics, for changes to come, even quickly if possible, LORD, for wrongs to be corrected, for peace to settle in where strife is now prevailing, for spiritual freedom to come and set captives free, for thirsty people to realize their thirst and come and drink. And for lives invaded by illness and disease we pray for health and restoration. And for weary souls we pray they will receive rest and refreshment. For IDOK Troops we pray for safety and all around well being and for safe returns home to family and friends. And for Israel’s Peace we pray and for America’s repentance, for Iran and country after country to hear the Gospel and believe. LORD, look into the heart, mind and life of every person named here below and speak to them today. We pray they will hear You say Come and we pray they will for Your glory and their good.
