Crozet Islands

Well, folks if I was far out there with Rapa Nui, you ‘ain’t’ heard nothing yet!  Before leaving for the office my beloved hubby and I stood before our world map and I said where for this month do we pray for world evangelism? He looked at the map and said here pointing with his finger. And where is the here?

Crozet Islands.

I know we have an island thing going it would seem. However, Crozet Islands is not a place we are likely to visit; although a travel website does list Crozet Islands, even gives you a list of things to see and do once you get there. Here take a look – CLICK. By the way before you cruise away you might want to know this island is a Sub Antarctic island. What does that mean? Basically it means this:

The Crozet Islands are uninhabited, except for the research station Alfred Faure (Port Alfred) on the East side of Île de la Possession, which has been continuously manned since 1963.
via Crozet Islands – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

And to learn more about the Alfred Faure, click HERE and HERE. This second link I highly recommend, even though I do not know a word she is singing, the slide show is beautiful and informative.

So the question is whom will we be praying for? These:

Alfred Faure above the site of Port Alfred is a permanent French scientific station on Possession Island of the Crozet Archipelago.
It is located along on the eastern side of the island. The station is situated on a plateau 143 m (460 ft) ASL.
Depending on the season, there are between 15-60 personnel working at the station. Their scientific work includes meteorological, seismic, biological and geological research.
The research station was first established during the austral summer of 1963-64. It replaced a temporary scientific station that was built in 1961. The new station was named after Alfred Faure who was the site’s leader in the early 1960s.
Alfred Faure station is visited 4 times a year by the Marion Dufresne, an oceanographic research vessel which delivers supplies and rotating crews of scientists. There is a 1.6 km road that connects the research station to the coast. French Polar Team – FT5Z Alfred Faure Station / Crozet Islands.

And while at this webpage, you might want to click Home and look there too.

Knowing our loving, gracious, wise ABBA, He will give us specific requests for these people He loves so much.

You are welcome to join us for the month of October to pray for the members of this Research Team on Crozet Islands.

Lets keep

Braving the Dark with The LIGHT together,
Kathie

Filling in the Blank

In close circles it is well-known that my hubby is an Auburn fan. So when a special presentation was announced to be aired on television tonight he DVR-ed it to watch when we got home from prayer meeting. And as I was tidying the kitchen I overheard a statement that struck a chord for me.

Gene Chizik.
Like him or not, what he said will ‘preach’ for football, for life.

“If you tell me you want to be a doctor but you are out drinking every night you don’t want to be a doctor you want to be a drunk.”

He followed with counsel that they needed to work on good habits to be a good football player.

So any body got a dream? Got a dream to be a good teacher? A published writer? An accomplished pianist? A medal winning gymnastic?  A dream to be a _____________?  Yes? Let us then be about filling in that blank with good habits that will develop the skills to achieve that dream.

Got a dream to be a mature, loving, kind, productive Christian?
Same principle.
Let us fill our minds and our days with good habits – the kind of habits we read that JESUS did.

Acts 10:38 Amplified Bible (AMP)
38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.

John 20:21 Amplified Bible (AMP)
21 Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! [Just] as the Father has sent Me forth, so I am sending you.

Thursday is World Evangelism prayer day for me. Not sure yet the place for the month of October — research tomorrow.  You will recall, September was Easter Island – Rapa Nui.  Still have a strange fondness for the place.  Must be a GOD thing. :)
