Follower of Yeshua. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother. Some call me a teacher. Some say I'm a prayer warrior. A few accredit me with some writing skills. Me? I say I'm a work in slow progress, looking for perfection in eternity and until then having all the holy fun I know how.

Starting Over

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2009

Surely it is Monday already. My plan is to be brief this morning. Since returning from the conference, I have not sat quietly to digest the HUGENESS of God’s Word given by His Servant, Beth.

My beloved is on his way to the hospital to see his mother before going to the office. She slipped out of bed this morning a little before 5:00. The nurse assured us she is okay but he wants to see for himself.

A passage for us to ponder as we pray today:

1 Thessalonians 5 (Amplified Bible)

15 See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody.

16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always);

17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];

18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

19 Do not quench (suppress or subdue) the [Holy] Spirit;

Just had an update on Chandler. The first surgery was a success, the doctors say, but Chandler says it has been the worst days of his life.

Before they can do any corrective surgery, he must have two seizures. He had one yesterday and needs to have another before Wednesday.

They area where they think they will be working pertains to his speech.

Sounds terrible but God is in the miracle healing business.

Thanks so much for your prayers for Chandler and his family.

Let you know when I hear more. Carolyn

We are also praying for Mrs. Walker this morning, she’s in her 90s and weary with earth’s journey.

Father, You know the beginnings of this day for each of us. You know our goals and our aims. You know our disappoints when we fail to accomplish what we believe we should have. And so in this moment we accept Your Grace to start fresh now in this moment. What is done is done and what is before us is opportunity to watch You work in us. We are eager to see just what You can do with a surrendered spirit, soul and body. We confess we must have Your help even to surrender and it is for that we pray right now. Thank You that mother was not re-injured this morning; enable her to receive Your peace at this time. And we pray for Mrs. Walker. You know the thoughts and desires of her family and You know her own desires. You know Your will for her and we can ask no more than that for her now. Thank You for the successful surgery for Chandler. And more surgery is needed but he needs to have a seizure before Wednesday. LORD, that is beyond my knowledge but what I know is You love Chandler and You have a plan for him and it is for that Plan I pray now, he and his family. And these are not all. We have our IDOK Troops on our minds, desiring them to be safe in spirit, soul and body; desiring for them to come home safely; desiring for them to live abundant, holy lives. And others, these listed here too. We confess they are not just names on a list but people You love. HOLY SPIRIT, take our individual and collective hearts and pray for them and do for them what You will this very day. Revive spirits, rest and recover wounded and broken souls and redeem and use for Your glory the bodies of Your People for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

Many Make One

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2009

I got a fire building in my soul, pray it ignites my Spirit this weekend as Beth Moore serves the WORD of GOD to us in New Orleans. Pray for our safety and protection in traveling to and from, and while we are there that we will be sequestered before The LORD. More and more I realize that I am weak and for my age much stunted in spiritual growth. Pray that this weekend will be a defining moment for me leading to growing me into a radical lover of our Savior Jesus Christ and radical servant to His Body.

I Corinthians 12:

14 For the body does not consist of one limb or organ but of many.

18 But as it is, God has placed and arranged the limbs and organs in the body, each [particular one] of them, just as He wished and saw fit and with the best adaptation. Isn’t this an encouragement to you? What we are called to do as members of the Body of Christ is what we are best adapted to do. Isn’t He Awesome? And all that we have experienced up to now and even what we will yet experience is part of adapting us for our ministries. Our God wastes nothing! Even our sins when we forsake and give over to Him the consequences of them, He uses to them to further adapt and equip us for our places in His Body.

27 Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body and [individually] you are members of it, each part severally and distinct [each with his own place and function].

I don’t know what Word You have for me in the next 48 hours, ABBA, but whatever it is I want to hear it, receive it and step into a deeper level of obedience and intimacy with You than I have heretofore known. I pray for Beth that she will not be distracted by anything or anyone; that You will anoint her and every word You want her to say she will say. I pray she will have freedom of Spirit to hear and be moved effortlessly by You so You can move among us and set captives free and revive the dry and weary. I pray every woman in every seat will experience You and respond to You in spirit and truth. I pray the worship team is already worshipping You as they prepare and that we will be easily led into Your Presence. I ask You for safety and protection for every soul attending and serving this conference. And I dare not omit these listed here, so I am praying for You to meet their needs, praying for their peace and safety, praying for them to be enabled to receive the gifts You desire to give them, praying for bodies to mend, diseases to be eradicated, minds and emotions to be healed and children with special needs to be made whole. And for our IDOK Troops to be safe and for each of them to come home safe and sound in mind, body and spirit at the appointed time. And we pray for our Veterans at home that they will be respected and treated well and that their needs will be met. We pray for peace in Israel and, LORD, we pray for America, for mercy and grace and space to repent. And, LORD, I am asking You to defeat and bring to nothing the plans of terrorists here in America and all places they are. And this hardly begins to touch all that is wrong or grievous, or needful, or hurtful in us. We confess we are a needy people; come correct us and fill us for Jesus sake.

IS

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2009

The Esther study again tonight (Wednesday) was so good! And I came from the study with some things to meditate upon. Here’s one. I John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

(Beth’s paraphrase – Faith IS the victory.) I am still turning that over and examining it and this is what I have so far. How often have we heard it said or have said it ourselves that we will be victorious as we place our faith in Jesus? Particularly when we are facing a testy situation we tell ourselves our faith in God will bring us through, that is give us victory over the situation. Would you consider that when we exercise our faith, believing that Jesus is our Victor that even before the situation is passed, we are ALREADY victorious? Just believing Him, IS the victory! Getting through the testy trial, resisting the temptation, doing the right thing, is just the icing on the cake. Having Faith in Jesus Christ IS the victory! Am I making any sense to you? My beloved said, “Yes, you are”.

We are adding Melissa and daughters to our prayer list.

Abba, believing You, putting our faith in You that You ARE and You Will is the victory. I see that, LORD. I see that believing You, resting our trust (faith) in You is the struggle of all struggles. And once we are beyond that, the war is over, some battles and skirmishes remain but You are our King and Warrior and we have already won. This helps me. If You will, use it to help others too. And, now we are thinking of Melissa and her daughters; it’s war. And we are praying for victory for each of them. And those to whom they mean so much, we are praying for victory for them too as they stand by, wondering what to do. Help them receive Your Wisdom in this. And there are others here, some with illness and disease, bodies that just don’t do what they used to do and some with emotions all over the page and minds working overtime; You know just who they are and I am asking You to heal them. I am asking You to bring into their paths people and information and strength to believe You. And we pray for our IDOK Troops for their protection and safety; we pray for peace for Israel and for Holy Ghost conviction to be poured out upon the people of America and for grace and space for repentance and we dare not forget to ask You to revive Your Church. Amen and amen.
