Eggs

Humpty-Dumpty

And all the king’s horses and all the king’s men could not put Humpty-Dumpty together again, so the fairy tale goes.

But we don’t live in a fairy tale, do we?  And what does a cracked egg have to do with fractured relationships  anyway? — that was our Sunday School question this Sunday morning.

When I think of eggs I think: scrambled, boiled, fried, fragile and the old cliche, ‘like walking on egg shells’.  Do you?  And can you take those words describing eggs and relate them to relationships?  I can.

How many of us enjoy relationships that are like walking on egg shells?  Always afraid you are going to say the wrong thing and your friend’s fragile ‘shell’ is going to break?  Or how about heated relationships … you know when we get just boiling mad?  Or relationships that get so complicated it’s like scrambled eggs and you don’t know what’s what any more?  Can you relate?

And you know what? We can’t un-scramble an egg.  We can’t un-boil an egg. We can’t un-crack an egg. And we can’t put an egg back together again.

Neither could all the king’s horses or all the king’s men.  But you know what? THE KING CAN.   That’s right KING JESUS can mend fractured relationships. He in us can forgive.  That boiling hot temper that scalded the heart of a friend, can be tempered by KING JESUS. That convoluted situation, can be sorted out with the Wisdom of KING JESUS.  That broken heart can be mended with the forgiveness and love of JESUS.

But somebody’s got to be the ‘good egg’ and start the process.  Somebody’s got to pray that first prayer asking for help.  Asking the LORD to search our own heart and find those cracks, those pieces and begin to mend and restore the soul of the one praying.  And as He does, the ‘good egg’ will then be enabled to seek out the ‘cracked egg’  and offer to her (or him) that same love and forgiveness she (he) received from JESUS.

When an egg is cracked, it’s cracked – it won’t be sitting on the wall again. BUT we are not eggs and the KING is all about putting us together again.  We only need to give Him the pieces and watch Him work!

2 Corinthians 5:17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  18Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,  19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  21He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

ABBA, I like this and I pray it will minister.  I pray it will make sense and it will help and I pray I will be a ‘good egg’ and let You put me together however You choose and will then be willing to be a splendid display of Your glorious mercy and grace to others needing to be mended too.  I pray for all our IDOKs that we will all allow You to tend us.

I pray for our IDOK Troops, for their safety and protection and I pray for every soul named on our Praying For These list.  You know their needs, You know their desires, hopes and dreams.  We entrust them all to You and it is in the Name of JESUS OUR KING we pray. Amen and amen.

Mulling Session

FOR PRAYER AND PRAISE:

To review the list of names for prayer, please click here.

While preparing my face to greet the public, I was mulling over some prior conversations, particularly the statement: ‘I just don’t know why this is not working.’

I didn’t have a quick comeback at the time but in my mulling session I thought: ‘But it is working. You just don’t see it.  God is working and the situation in question is working.  It is accomplishing what ABBA knows is needed.  Even when it looks like nothing is working.  HE IS WORKING’.

If we could just get our wills around this truth, we’d be a much happier bunch in times adverse to what we want, would we not? So why don’t we believe it? Why don’t we will ourselves to believe that GOD IS WORKING always and forever on our behalf?

John 5:(Amplified Bible)17But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work.

What a grievous thing it is for us to entertain and allow ourselves to believe  that He is not working in our circumstance or even that He is maliciously delaying something we so desperately want.  Oh my! That lands like a pile of bricks.  When we desperately want anything to the point that we will let the thought hang around within the walls of our mind that ‘God is not working on this’, then we can know that we are desperate for the ‘thing’, rather than being desperate for ABBA and His will.

And that’s the ‘rest of the story’ to I just don’t know why this is not working!

This feels right.  Right to KNOW that You are working.  That You are always tending to what concerns us.  That no situation that touches us, no hurt, no wrong, no sadness, no lack, nothing – absolutely nothing comes or passes that it does not have Your attention and Your Hand of correction, guidance, resolution, whatever is needed for Your Glory and our good.  I am so blessed to KNOW this, ABBA.  Thank You.  Thank You.  I love you. And I thank You for that too.  And I pray each of our IDOKs KNOW this too and if not that they will come to believe it today.   We pray for our IDOK Troops for peace and safety, for protection in spirit, soul and body and for each of them to return home safe and sound at the appointed time.  We pray for each soul represented by a name on our Praying For These list.  Particularly I am reminded of Bridgett and her family and in line with this lesson thank You that You are working in this medical crisis and in this we pray for peace and healing for Bridgett and all the family.  And we pray for others, all those whose names and requests have been given to us for prayer.  We are glad to pray, glad to enter into this work with You, ABBA, asking for just what they need and asking in JESUS NAME.  And praying too for Israel, for peace and protection and continuing to pray for revival for the Church and for space and grace for American People to be saved.  Amen and amen.
