IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JULY 8, 2010

Praise Reports, Prayer Requests and Updates:

There is truth in the adage: ‘No use crying over spilled milk’.

Just get busy cleaning it up and figure out how it spilled and don’t do it again.

I am so grateful this verse is true!  Joel 2: (New King James Version) ²⁵ “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.

Especially since I did not do these following verses all the years my Babies were home with me.

^{Deuteronomy11: 18}“You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.  ¹⁹” You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.  ²⁰” You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,  ²¹so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.  ²²“For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to Him,  ²³then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

I was not careful all their pre-adult years that what they saw and heard within the walls of our  home was holy; or demonstrative of the love and the holiness of God.  The walls of our home and the walls of my mind and walk did not year after year display the Word of God. The Word of God was not the last Word spoken before we went to sleep and His Word was not the first Word spoken when we woke up each morning.  For too many of those years, it was not my normal practice to get out and laugh and run and play and marvel at the Creation of our God with them.  For at least a decade of those important years, I did not seek the Holy Spirit for teachable moments in our day to day comings and goings when He in me could make the Word of God come alive to them in ways that would turn them on to Him rather than off.

The Text says bind them as a sign on your hand, that is my hands (your hands), what we DO, must demonstrate the Word (the Character, the Ways) of God to our children; if not, we have failed them in the worst way possible.  The Text says as frontals on your forehead that is the Word of God governs our choices so consistently that our children SEE it.  They SEE GOD IN US.   And unless they do see Him in us then we have failed them in the worst possible way.

They may have gourmet meals, they may have perfectly decorated rooms, they may have the latest fashions to wear and every electronic gadget known to man BUT if they do not SEE GOD in us, all that stuff will become a tool for the Evil One to steal their souls.

The GOOD NEWS, the GREAT NEWS is as long as there is LIFE, there is HOPE.  If we have failed them in the worst possible way, we can start today with that spilled milk clean up.  And we can trust God to restore.   We can seek Him and when we do we will find Him.   (See Jeremiah 29:11-14.)

For my Babies and me, He’s been restoring for about 15 years now and He is AWESOME!  And my Babies?  They’re not too ‘shabby’. :)

ABBA, I praise You for Who You are and what You have done and are continuing to do.  I pray for families out there still young that they will learn from Your Word and start today to practice these very verses and give their children the best possible foundation to choose You early and miss the hell of rebellion in the here and now and the eternity of it. And I pray for older families that like me did not do as well as I could have chosen to do that You will encourage them, that they will pick up today and start the clean up process with You and will trust You to restore the years.  I pray Holy Spirit that You will take this hard lesson and make it real and practical and start rescuing families this very day.

I pray for our IDOK Troops; asking You to protect them; asking that they make good choices today; that they choose to listen to You today and live godly in hostile places and friendly places.  And, ABBA, yes please bring each one home safe and sound to waiting families and friends.  And, ABBA, I pray now for each one on our List For Prayer; asking You to take a reading on each heart and apply what is needed to restore. encourage, correct, heal, make well, and all that You desire to do for them.

And again we pray for America, for Your Spirit to come and convict and convince of righteousness and judgment to come and, LORD, start right here with me.  ABBA, I’m not any where near as ‘fanatical’ about You as I need to be; as my family and friends and others need me to be.  Get me there, please get me there, in JESUS Name. Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 7, 2010

Can only tell you that some somebodies we love are scheduled to stand before an accuser this (Wednesday) afternoon and the accuser is guilty of all manner of evil.  It gives a ripe opportunity to practice righteousness. Prayer so needed!!

I started out this morning to read Deuteronomy 11 but verse 1 said ‘therefore’ so I had to go back to Chapter 10 to see why that therefore was there fore.

Deuteronomy 11 (New American Standard Bible) ¹“You shall therefore love the LORD your God, and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.

And when I got to verse 20 of Chapter 10, I’ve been hanging out there.

²⁰“You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.

See that word fear?  In Hebrew it is a primary root word.  See that word serve?  In Hebrew it is a primary root word.  See that word cling? In Hebrew it is a primary root word.

Fear.  ary in Hebrew. Transliterated yaw-ray.  Sounds a lot like Yahweh when pronounced.  And you know what?  Yahweh is the ONLY one you and I should ‘fear’ in this way.   That is according to my online Hebrew Lexicon to stand in awe of, to honor, to respect, to reverence.

Serve.   db[ in Hebrew. Transliterated ‘abad. And means do work, to make oneself a servant. I see NO compulsion here.  No twisting of the arm, no beating to performance.  I see choice.  Choosing to serve.  Choosing to because of the standing in awe, choosing to serve out of respect, reverence, honor for Yahweh.

Cling. And oh I like this one!   qbd in Hebrew. Transliterated dabaq and meaning to be joined together, stay close, stick to, keep close, follow closely, to pursue closely. I get the idea.  Don’t you?  But let me describe a picture that came to me to help illustrate.  Naturally an earthly word picture is never as good as the real in Heaven, but it helps.

When Jerry and I are in a very crowded place or a place that is unfamiliar to me, I stay really close to him.  I even join myself to him.  I slip a couple of my fingers in his back belt loop and I hang on.  When I get bumped and jostled by others in the ‘herd’ around us, I’m still connected.  No one separates us.  There have been times when the crowd has been so dense and close that I have had to actually step  behind him in the crowd because there was not room to walk beside him.

So slip your hand into DADDY GOD’s ‘belt loop’ and hang on!  And when that crowd of trials, troubles, hurts, needs gets so dense it feels like you will get trampled let Him be your Shield.  Slip right then in behind Him, right up next to Him, so you can feel His Shoulders  So Strong and know His Heart is beating with unconditional love for you.

That’s a good picture. That picture makes me tear up with JOY tears!!

DADDY GOD, I am so thanking You for this picture.  So thanking You for Primary Root Words. Clinging to You is just what I want to do.  And this I know clinging to You makes ‘fearing’ You and serving You all the better! Even possible.  I pray for our IDOKs and our Readers that this lesson will inspire and aid them in clinging to You in all ‘crowds’.

I pray for our IDOK Troops.  We entrust them to You for Your Faithful Eye to keep watch over them.  We pray Holy Spirit for Your work in them and upon them to nudge them and lead them to increased faith, trust and love for You.

I pray for our people, we’ve reviewed the list together, their faces have come before us and You love them so much so we trust You to help and do what is best for each.  Holy Spirit, help them in their weaknesses in spirit, soul and body.  Lift them up, give them eyes to see the HOPE You have to give, the solutions, the provisions, all things they need. Help them receive.

And I am continuing to pray for America and for what I can do as an American to see You rain down conviction and conversion.  I pray too for Israel that beloved Nation, praying for peace and wisdom and protection and faithful allies.  All this in the Name of JESUS the RIGHTEOUS.  Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JULY 6, 2010

Praise Reports, Prayer Requests and Updates:

It’s back to work week activities!  Even so, praising the LORD is good.

Children – Grandchildren.

When they have questions and they do!  Often lots of them!

Journey (A LifeWay Publication) gives some wise counsel:

“And when they have questions, show them truth in Scripture.”

Amen! What better way to give a child a firm foundation from which to make choices? And you know what is a great added bonus?  We  get BACK UP!  God Himself becomes our BACK UP because He is the one who has said this behavior is not best for you and this behavior is best for you!

Ooh! I like this bit of counsel very much!  Do you?

Proverbs 22:  (New International Version)  ⁵ In the paths of the wicked lie thorns and snares, but he who guards his soul stays far from them.   ⁶ Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

I think this applies to Mothers too.

Ephesians 6: (New International Version) ⁴Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

And just like I am telling you as we read this next text we can tell our children, our grandchildren, nieces and nephews — “Don’t shoot the Messenger here,  I am as much subject to this counsel as you are.  And you know what I’m the better for it.  So are you. “

Titus 2: (New American Standard Bible) ³Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,  ⁴so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,  ⁵to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

The Word of Our Father – the BACK UP we ALL need!

I like this DADDY.  My only regret is I did not call upon You for BACK UP sooner.  But thank You, Thank You that now I have and You are teaching still, even the older of us.  Amen, LORD JESUS, Amen.

Not forgetting to pray for our IDOK Troops this morning.  Not forgetting to pray for our List of People we know and love and those we love and don’t know yet, for each we ask peace and safety in this hostile world; for each we thank You that even in a war zone we are safe with You; that nothing touches us without first passing through Your Loving, Strong Hands.  Amen and Amen in JESUS NAME.
