Not My Idea of a Party!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2008

A quote from Gary Smalley and John Trent: Take time today, if only for a moment, to lovingly encourage each one in your family.

Proverbs 28: 7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
Romans 13:
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the Armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Allow me to commend the Officials of Baldwin County, Alabama for their wisdom and dedication to the Process of Voting. In Baldwin County, ALL Voting Locations will be open tomorrow; those who anticipated they would ‘party’ on Fat Tuesday were provided with ONE polling place to cast their vote last Wednesday. But Mobile County …. Well as to the Officials of Mobile County, Alabama, I am a searching for civil words — apparently, to them making provisions to sin in riotous partying is more important than choosing a Presidential Candidate. Mobile County opened ALL the Voting locations last Wednesday and tomorrow there is ONE, yes just ONE location to vote in ALL of Mobile County!! Can you imagine living in Mt. Vernon and having to drive to Azalea and Michael Boulevard to vote?! I wonder how many Citizens of Mobile County will be unable to vote tomorrow because of this debacle decision?! It is a sad commentary for Mobile County, Alabama that a drunken parade is more important than choosing a Presidential Candidate.
Father, forgive them. At this moment I am ashamed to live in this County, a place that people are more interested in sin that in righteousness but You have me here for a reason. Please help me be faithful to You. Please help me bare the hardship these Officials have created for me and hopefully a multitude of other people. Lord, help us do what is right even when the majority around us is doing evil.
And Father, I pray again for Bev this morning and her family as they grieve her Dad’s passing, give her comfort and rest and peace; Jerry, her daughters and their families too. I pray that You will give them favor and the planning will go smoothly.
We pray for our IDOK Troops that You will again today protect them from all harm in mind and body and spirit; we pray again today that at the appropriate time You will bring them safely home to their family and friends, more in love with You than when they deployed. We pray for a successful conclusion to this war; we pray for the Election of Your Choice for President; we pray for the Repentance of America; we pray for the Peace of Israel, and we pray You will Revive Your Church. And we pray for each listed here Father for peace and comfort, for debts to be paid and families to be mended and bodies and minds to be restored for Jesus sake.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

Urgent Prayer Request

The request comes through IDOK Beverly from a source she trusts. There are times when prayer request come to us via email that are either a hoax or have been circulating so long they are no longer relevant — that is not the case with this one.
Thank you IDOKs …. Kathie

Joyce writes: This is one I know is true because we know them. Greg works with his dad. So please include him in your prayers. His parents are in Germany with him now. He joined last year because his best friend, also a local boy, was killed and he went to “finish the job”. So sad. He’s only 20.

The original request:
Family and friends,
Please pray for Bradley Thomas, son of my co-worker Veronica and husband Rocky Thomas of Jones Creek. He is serving in the army and was badly wounded in Iraq yesterday (Friday morning – 1/31/08) after his Stryker hit a IUD. There was one fatality and other men were injured as well. He has wounds to his head/brain, broken bones and a blood clot in his leg that they are very concerned about. They can’t use blood thinners due to the head/brain injury. He is already in Germany and the neurosurgeon told the family that they have put Bradley into an induced coma to try help the brain begin to heal/stablize, they have Red Cross standing by to transport him stateside on Tuesday if everything is stable at that time. (He has been in Iraq less than one month.) Please, please, please pass this prayer request on to your churches, prayer-chain warriors, other friends and family. A million thanks.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

There’s a Secret Place

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2008

Oh soul are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see?

Read Psalm 31. Here’s a portion:
20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;

Just that verse alone is glorious – He is hiding us from the plots of ‘man’ in the Secret Place of His Presence! His Presence alone secrets us from entrapments of evil.
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues.

In His Presence the wagging tongues of your enemies do not reach you. In His Presence their words fall short of the mark of pain.
21 Blessed be the LORD,
For He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city!
22 For I said in my haste,

Oh, yes sometimes I have spoken too soon and have said
“I am cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried out to You.
23 Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints!
For the LORD preserves the faithful,
And fully repays the proud person.
24 Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the LORD.

Yes be of good courage today – HOPE IN THE LORD, HE IS YOUR STRENGTH.
Father, thank You for Psalm 31. Thank You for speaking it, thank You for writing it for us, thank You for the ability to read it, thank You for the desire to read it; thank You for the faith to believe. Father God You are AWESOME. And today we bring these and we pray for Your Presence for them today. We pray for Your Pavilion of Strength and Mercy and Grace and Forgiveness and Healing and Wisdom and Blessings in the proportion needed by each. We proclaim what a privilege to call their names to You. Bev and her Dad and family. Tonya and family. Rick Burgess and family. Lawson Family. Mrs. Dobbs. Charles and Renee’. Dall T. Dylan. Overcoming Resistance

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2008

Father, yesterday was a grand day but today is a slow start and I am finding this resistance is hard to overcome so I am coming to You in confession and asking for direction and deliverance. Some of our IDOKs may be experiencing the same thing this morning and so I pray for all of us to look to You, to fall in love with You again this morning and praise and bless You. Thank You Lord. This sits much better. You are Awesome! And this morning I am again asking You to supply peace and comfort to Bev and her Dad and all the family as they wait for You to glorify Yourself and give to each of them what is needed at this moment. And we are still asking for strength for the Burgess family and others who are grieving separation from one they love so much. And we pray for those who are disturbed by their own thought processes and we pray You will heal them; we pray they will LET You heal them. Please protect our IDOK Troops today; keep them safe in all ways and bring each of them home to family and friends at the appointed time; we pray for a successful conclusion to this war; we pray for the election of Your Choice for President. Father, it seems to me that so much is unfair in the system that is operating here and yet we KNOW You are bigger and greater than the system – Lord help us. This Nation is in grave need of Holy leadership and I am asking You to have mercy on us and bring Your Choice to the Presidency. We pray too for the Peace of Israel and especially for the Repentance of America. And most of all Lord, revive Your Church.

James 5:
15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
