THE WINNER

Monday, October 4, 2010 — IDOK Devotion

Praying for These, please click here to review names. (new feature – may print list from PfT page)

I am here this morning with many thoughts crowding and racing my mind campaigning to be first on the page. Here’s the winner.

I am forgiven! Past, present and future sins are gone — in CHRIST JESUS I am forgiven, now and forever!

Before the dawn (well, at this moment of writing it’s not dawn yet in Satsuma, Alabama) that thought stood guard as first in my stream of consciousness. Beautiful, isn’t it?  All praise be to our Glorious Savior JESUS CHRIST The Righteous.

Another. As long as my Babies are safe and resisting temptation I am a ‘happy camper’.

Another. It was a good weekend. We strolled a portion of  the campus at Auburn.  The day was gorgeous! The campus is beautiful.  A youngster with the Mind of Christ could have a four year holy blast there!  If only we could stuff wisdom in the brain of the body of Youth.

Another. Pastor gave two excellent sermons yesterday at Satsuma First Baptist.  I am blessed!

And then my Journey this morning said ‘Minister with Joy’.  Here’s an excerpt:

“An imperfect shepherd leading an imperfect flock. Sounds odd, doesn’t it? But because we live in a fallen, imperfect world, our pastors are imperfect people (just like their imperfect congregations).  God has placed the responsibility of shepherding His flock, His Church, in the hands of pastors who are called and appointed by the Holy Spirit (Acts 20:28). So let’s support and encourage our pastors.  And this month is the perfect time to begin: it’s Pastor Appreciation Month.

Father, help us to honor, encourage, and support the pastors You have appointed to lead us, Your Flock. Help us to keep any criticism constructive, and build up our pastors.

Acts 20:28 (New American Standard Bible) 28“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

And that’s the way He brings it all together:  By the blood of JESUS CHRIST I am forgiven – past, present, future sins gone! Be on guard — take note what we are thinking. Pray and encourage our Pastors (and if you don’t have one, keep on believing God has a plan). And pray for our children — however old or young, bathe them morning by morning and as the day grows long in Holy Spirit led prayer.

3 John 4: I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth. Amen and amen to that!!

2 Corinthians 10: (New King James Version)4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

LaJuanna asked that we pray for her brother Donald.  Her request is posted at Notices Given.

Well, ABBA, it’s on the screen and the minutes have sped by and the activities of the day are upon us.  Thank You for work.  And we pray to do it well today, whatever it is and wherever it is, my prayer is that we will honor You as we serve You serving others today for a paycheck and especially if there is no paycheck.

You know the people You have blessed this ministry with the privilege and responsibility to pray for, so now we bring them and Donald too; asking You to heal and save.  And we bring our IDOK Troops for protection and safe keeping too. And, ABBA, I personally again pray for the November elections; I pray the ruthless will be reproved and removed from office and others with integrity and who will support and adhere to the Constitution You gave us will be elected.

And, ABBA, thank You for Pastor Roy.  HOLY SPIRIT strengthen him and fortify him today.  And HOLY SPIRIT, I ask You to pour out in this age of Grace conviction and bring revival to the Church and salvation to the Nation. Amen and amen in JESUS NAME.

Bent . . . Well?

Friday, October 1, 2010 — IDOK Devotion

Today is a special day – October 1st. For on this day in a certain year, a baby boy was born and God had a plan for that baby boy and one of those plans was to grace my life with him, the love of my life — second only to JESUS Himself.
Happy Birthday, Jerry Lee Thompson! You are still Mr. Wonderful to me. :)

There are tough things going on – debts hard or seemingly impossible to pay, hard heart(ed) and stiff-necked people enslaved to sin and bent on bringing misery to those they should be loving, illness and diseases threatening to steal the very breath of life while devastating not only the economy of the home but the souls of the family, a political climate bent on destruction with leaders and followers who worship little g gods, and local bodies of Christian believers who are yet to get serious believing God.  In my estimation, that pretty much sums up life around me.  Is anybody going there with me? Yes?  Then please go to another place with me.

31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, [Even in this putrid economy?] who is against us?

32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? [Yeah! If and since He did give us JESUS to save us from hell and to heaven, why would He not deliver us when we cry out from debt, people, government and for revival? Well?]

33Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. [So does the evil one or anyone of his cohorts, spirit or human, have the right to accuse and condemn us? Well? So when are we going to refuse to listen and bow to that stuff?]

35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36Just as it is written,
” FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”

37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Well? Are we?] (Romans 8 NASB)

Are we there yet? Then let’s keep moving forward.

My love and holy hugs and prayers for peace and safety and holy fun to you all.  LORD willing see you Monday!  kt

LORD and FATHER, thank You. Already a lovely day and much remains to be seen whether pleasure or pain but in either You are our Provider, our Lover, Friend, Savior, our God, and FATHER, and we praise You.  And in the here and now in these moments I entrust our IDOKs, IDOK Troops and families, my own daughters and sons, GRANDS, family, friends, enemies, troubles, inconveniences, dreams, desires and hopes to You for Your safekeeping and transforming to the image of JESUS, now and forever. Amen and amen.

Something to Consider

My Journey Magazine (a LifeWay Publication) tells me October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and offered 5 suggestions we should practice.

1. Eat good fats—olive oil, flaxseed oil, and fats from nuts, seeds, avocados, and coconuts. Avoid trans fats like partially hydrogenated oils, hydrogenated oils or vegetable shorting.

2. Eat lots of  greens—spinach, lettuce, kale, broccoli, and green peppers.

3. Exercise —The American Cancer Society recommends that you exercise for 30 to 45 minutes at least five days each week.

4. Take supplements—Harvard studies suggest that taking 1,200 mg. of calcium and 800 IU of vitamin D daily slashes breast-cancer risk by up to 69 percent.

5. Eat walnuts—According to www.webmd.com, snacking on two ounces (two handfuls) of walnuts a day may cut your risk of breast cancer.

My Baby Girl gave me a tip as to spinach—I’m passing it on to you with my testimony that she was right.  Fresh spinach leaves on a sandwich instead of iceberg lettuce adds nutrition and more flavor.  Fresh spinach leaves, tomato slices, onion slices, smoked gouda cheese and I can do without the meat— put that on Arnold Thin Sandwich bread. Ymmm! I’m making some of these for lunch tomorrow.  Not to worry, I do have turkey slices.

Enjoy your evening.  Friday morning’s IDOK is entitled:

Bent. . . Well?

Holy hugs, kt
