Whatever good you hope to do in this world do it now or at least begin now.
John 9: 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Jesus said neither his parents’ sin nor his own sin caused his illness but God would work in it and reveal Himself. Jesus continued on to say that He, Himself, must work while it was day because the night was coming. And we believe Jesus was not speaking of 6:00 PM that evening as the night. We all have our ‘night’ coming and even as Jesus we need to do the Works of Father while we have DAY to do it. And this is not to encourage you or me to get busy; not at all. The last thing we need is to be more ‘busy’. Do you recall any where in Scripture that says Jesus ran or Jesus hurried? Busy is just not a word we can associate with Jesus. But we can associate the word ‘occupied’. He was occupied with doing the Works of Father while He had DAY to do it. That is all He is asking of us to ‘Occupy’. To be occupied with Him. He gave a Parable. You know the one about the ‘pounds’ given to the servants. Luke 19: 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Pounds (or talents, gifts, abilities, opportunities – you get the picture) have been given to each of us by Our Lord – whatever we are going to do with them, we need to do it now while we have DAY. No, not in a frenzy; not harried and hurried but STEADY and TIMELY, just like Jesus – BE YE OCCUPIED. Oc·cu·py Tr.v. Oc·cu·pied, Oc·cu·py·ing, oc·cu·pies 1. To fill up (time or space): a lecture that occupied three hours. 2. To dwell or reside in. 3. To hold or fill (an office or position). 4. To seize possession of and maintain control over by or as if by conquest. 5. To engage or employ the attention or concentration of: occupied the children with coloring books. Take your pick. I like 2. Residing (abiding) in Christ Jesus will keep me occupied and on track. Don’t you think? John 15: 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. Lord, we want to be occupied; we want to be ‘gainfully employed’ in Your Vineyard. Help us recognize the gifts, the talents, the opportunities You have given us and help us Holy Spirit to be willing to use them rather than bury them in busy-ness with temporal matters that will not advance eternity. Even more help us turn temporal tasks into eternal accomplishments. I know You in us can do that. And by Your Grace I am watching to see You do this in me today. And today we are praying for these listed here. Each and every one of them, You know them by name and by need and we entrust them to You and we proclaim that You do all things well and we know You are occupied still with Eternal Matters for Father’s Glory and our good. To You Lord be Praise Forever. We entrust our IDOK Troops to You today for their safe keeping and for the peace of their families and friends. As best we know how we entrust America to You for You to correct and convince as You see fit. We trust that whatever comes You are in control and those who are ‘occupied’ in You, You will provide all we need. We pray for the Peace of Israel. We pray for Vacation Bible Schools that are to begin soon, anoint Your people to deliver Your Word to children, tender their hearts to receive it. Reap a mighty harvest, Lord. Psalm 27 1 THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, [even then] in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. 5 For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. 6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
Did you notice verse 2 is past tense and verse 3 is future tense? Remember His Faithfulness in the past and we will have hope for the future. Notice the ONE thing the Psalmist was asking – that he will SEEK the LORD always and behold the BEAUTY of THE LORD. I think David was right. Verse 5 confirms that troubles will come but he is confident that he will be hidden; that he will be SAFE in the LORD. Why? Because he has chosen and has prayed that he will meditate and consider and gaze upon the BEAUTY of THE LORD. The Pastor said Sunday that my enemies were my ‘own’ thoughts – those thoughts that are contrary to the Word of the LORD. And those kinds of thoughts will surely come today and it is then that I must gaze upon the BEAUTY of THE LORD and offer the sacrifice of praise. And it is then I will be victorious. This is true for you too. Abba, thank You for promised and sure victories in Christ Jesus our Savior and LORD. Thank You for time to rest and remember and thank You for times to pick up and advance and my prayer is that we will advance today for Your Sake. And our prayer for these here is they will advance today; advance in believing that You do all things well and that You love us always in all times, all seasons, all circumstances, especially the ones that seem adverse to us. We pray for protection of our IDOK Troops, keep them safe today in mind, body and spirit. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the fortitude of America to stand with Her and we pray for space and grace for America to repent. Abba, I am grateful to live here in America and love that You birthed this Nation, I am grateful for all that is good about America but I sad for Her too. I am sad and grieved that at large sin is glorified and You are blasphemed. I am asking You to forgive, please grant space and grace for souls to repent. I am late today and shall be brief. This prayer request came yesterday – forgive my delay. It’s hard to believe but I did not power up the computer yesterday. Brad came in at church & sat beside me. He had just gotten off the phone W/Hawk. It’s ‘unofficial’ but one of his guys that extended for 6 months in Afghanistan was killed. I totally lost it & left church. Frank had the morning prayer & had to lock the outside doors. He didn’t have a clue where I was. Since coming home I’ve been switching between Fox news, CNN, & the others. CNN ran a line about one killed. I haven’t talked to Hawk. Jodi’s brother & his family are here for the weekend & they’ve all gone to church W/her family. I don’t know any details but please remember this family. Abba, this is not the news any family would want on Memorial Day Weekend or any other weekend. And Holy Spirit we are counting on You to console and undergird this family and friends of this dearly loved Soldier. We are made quiet by this and we pray You will quiet the souls of these hurting so deeply. Many have fallen over the years since America began and while we are grateful for freedom, we know it comes at a precious price and You know fully well and better than we the price for freedom. We are grateful that You have placed us here in these United States and even as I speak that I think we are not united, not in a way that is holy and healthy. Forgive us Abba and bring us to holiness. Forgive America and give her space and grace to repent. As we remember today those who have given life and blood for this Country, comfort us and do a work in our hearts that makes their sacrifice not in vain. And Lord Jesus even more than that move and anoint us to REMEMBER Your Holy and Everlasting Sacrifice for Eternal Freedom and to live holy lives here and now as we wait for You to return for us. And we pray now for our IDOK Troops today, that You will encourage them, protect them in mind and body and spirit. I pray too today for each and every IDOK and their families, my desire and petition for each is to REMEMBER YOU. To remember that Your Body was broken and Your Blood was Shed for us to be free from sin and the wage of eternal death. I pray that not only will we remember You but that we will denounce pride and any other sin that is keeping us from living in holiness. We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing.
