LUMPS

IDOK DEVOTION for Friday, August 17, 2007

In Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life, by Beth Moore (this is not an endorsement of Beth Moore, just a teaching from her that prompted this post) she said:
“You must come to that place where you realize you really are something to God. And when you practice on-going sin in your life, you are quenching the glory of God which He so desires to reveal to you.” (Page 48).

As she was talking about our bodies, souls, and spirits and she related that life here on this sin-cursed planet scars and wounds and damages our bodies and our souls; she said:

“Nobody has touched my spirit. My spirit is untouched, virginal, chaste, one hundred percent without yeast. No one has victimized my spirit and I have never been able to defile that. Beloved, you have something and someone within you that is totally untouched and totally undefiled! Hallelujah!” (Page 49).

Let’s look at the verse of Scripture upon which this is based.

(NIV) I Corinthians 5: 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.     source

Let’s also read these from the KJV as that is the Translation my Greek Lexicon uses.

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

The NIV says AS YOU REALLY ARE.
Hold this in mind, you are going to see it again.
KJV says AS YE ARE UNLEAVENED and it means the same in both translations.
Now let us see in the Greek what Father has said about us here.
To locate and define I use StudyLight.org

The word Unleavened in Greek is a[zumo
Which is transliterated Azumos
And it means Unfermented, free from leaven or yeast of the unleavened loaves used in the paschal feast of the Jews
Metaph. Free from faults or the “leaven of iniquity”

Do you see what I see there? FREE FROM FAULTS!

Before we finish this study, let’s look at two more words: LEAVEN and LUMP.
LEAVEN, and that Greek word is zuvmh
Transliterated it is Zume
And it means leaven Metaph. Of inveterate mental and moral corruption, viewed in its tendency to infect others

No real surprise there, huh?
Inveterate mental and moral corruption with a tendency to infect others — that sounds like our fallen human nature, doesn’t it?

Lump – in the Greek: fuvrama
Transliterated: Phurama
And meaning Any substance mixed with water and kneaded A mass, a lump Of dough Of clay

But we are not done with Lump yet.
Fuvrama is not the root word; fuvw is and
It is transliterated: Phuo
And it means: To beget, bring forth, produce To be born, to spring up, to grow To shoot forth, spring up

Hang with me here, we’re getting close.
The Scripture commands us to purge out the old LEAVEN; that inveterate mental and moral corruption that has a tendency to infect others.
What is inveterate? 1. Firmly and long established; deep-rooted 2. Persisting in an ingrained habit; habitual
That sounds like us apart from Jesus Christ; without Him, we with our SOUL and BODY persist in habitual sin.

Okay. Now how about the LUMP?
Something mixed with WATER and KNEADED but that is not all.
Not only is it mixed with WATER and KNEADED it is something that is begotten (beget), brought forth, produced, born, grow, shoot forth.
Oh, I like being a LUMP of UNLEAVENED!

How about that word kneaded: 1. To mix and work into a uniform mass, as by folding, pressing, and stretching with the hands: kneading dough. 2. To make or shape by or as if by folding, pressing, and stretching with the hands. 3. To squeeze, press, or roll with the hands, as in massaging: kneading a painful calf muscle.
Is this in any wise clear to you?

In Christ Jesus we are UNLEAVENED. Our spirit is that PLACE within our Frame that HOLY SPIRIT resides and that place is FREE FROM FAULTS. I confess, it is going to take me some time and much prayer to get my brain or my emotions wrapped around that thought!!!
Okay. Now for me to be the LUMP (that is this person who walks and talks here on planet earth with that FREE FROM FAULT UNLEAVENED living inside of me – WHO I REALLY AM — Oh my is that GREAT!) that He desires me to be, I have to be MIXED and KNEADED – the WATER of the WORD has to be poured into me and those persistent, deep-rooted, ingrained habitual sins have to be KNEADED – worked out of me; and that may require Holy Spirit within me to fold, press, stretch, shape, squeeze, roll, and massage me in order to bring me forth into that LUMP He desires and I desire me to be.
Let me stretch this just a little more.
When The Father brought us forth from death in trespasses and sins, He begot us, He brought us forth as a shoot coming from a root – THE ROOT of DAVID – Jesus The Christ. Revelation 22: 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”   source

In summary, if we are going to be ‘little loaves of bread’ to feed the multitudes, we must submit the LUMP we are to the kneading of  Holy Spirit.

Prayer Request from Bev: Also, I am certain you have seen the reports of the severe earthquake in Peru. A few weeks ago, I would have just said “Isn’t that a shame?”. Well, now I have been there and know people in the area that was hit. I am requesting that the safety of those people please be put on the IDOK prayer list. I have some e-mail addresses and am trying to contact them, but so much of the electricity is off and there is very little cell service in the area. Isn’t it amazing how God changes our concept of what is important to us and what is not? I will let you know when I am able to get some information about the pastors and families of the Peruvians I came to love in the 10 days I was there.

Father, certainly first and foremost we praise You for Who You are and we thank You for the free of faults standing You give us in Christ Jesus. At this time we are coming with what seems to us urgent requests – the people of Peru, the Pastors, and families amid the earthquake, these are Your People and we are entrusting their well-being to You and we are asking You to give Bev some word from them.  In meantime give peace and assurance as she and others wait for news from them. And we ask for peace and consolation for Pastor Litton as he grieves the bodily death of his wife and the serious bodily injury incurred by his daughter. We hardly know how to pray in these cases. We know to trust You and rely upon the sure fact that You are moved with compassion for these even though we do not understand the why of these horrific events. Yet we know somehow You will be glorified and somehow You will bring good and You will bless everyone involved in these two tragedies and it is for this that we Praise You and wait upon You. Help us be encouraged and continue to rejoice in this message of Unleavened.
Again thank You for the IDOK Troops that are at home; we pray for continued adjusting and holy reflection for them and we continue to pray for our IDOK Troops still serving on Foreign Soils.
And so we especially pray for any of our IDOK Troops who have not been quickened in Spirit, that You will convince them of their need for salvation and we pray they will agree with You and be saved.
We still see the need for revival in America and we ask You to bring it on, Lord. And in addition to all this, we pray for these too that Your Will be done for each in all ways for Jesus’ sake.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

Comfort – Gotta Have It!

IDOK DEVOTION for Monday, August 13, 2007

“Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” Author Unknown

Luci Swindoll told us the weekend to “Show Up, Shut Up and Let Go!” We are here in this life, we might as well Show Up – as in Father, here I am this morning reporting for duty and service. And when we do show up, Shut Up – as in shut up telling Father how to run our lives and in the process of shutting Up, Let Go. Let Go and let Him do His thing in us. And when He does His Thing in us – WOW!!

All day Friday with Beth Moore was – well, many of you know I do not use the word AWESOME except for our God. To me ONLY He is AWESOME. And He in His Word and in His servant Beth Moore was AWESOME!
It will take me some time to digest this weekend but this morning, right now a brand new day is beginning; a brand new day to begin practicing Showing Up, Shutting Up and Letting Go of the Comfort Cult which I have joined. Beth came to Atlanta on Friday to tell us Father has COMFORT for us. But the only way for us to experience the COMFORT of our GOD is to be set free from our ADDICTION to COMFORT. I like comfort as much as the next girl – to get back home with my man
(I enjoy the way Beth refers to Keith as “my man” – I have one of those too, his name is Jerry) and our home – well, we will not even go there, other than to say Ahhh! COMFORT!
2 Corinthians 1: (NKJV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.
6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation. 8 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.
9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,
10 who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,
11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.

Right away verse 3 tells us Father God is the God of ALL Comfort. How foolish is it for us to attempt to find comfort outside His will for us? Is that stuuu-pid?!! Or what? But we do it. I do it. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt! And I’m not even going to say I won’t do it again. I am sure I will; good gracious, I’ve probably done it since leaving the conference! But this morning I have a renewed strength, a renewed desire to Show Up, Shut Up, and Let Go of desiring MY comfort and receiving Father’s COMFORT. And I understand that receiving Father’s Comfort is going to mean, maybe even often, that I will have to let go and leave MY comfort zone.
And verse 4, leaving my comfort zone most likely will lead me into tribulation but there HE WILL COMFORT me!! Hallelujah! It don’t get any better than that!!
Love you all. Lord willing ‘see’ you again in the morning with more!

Father, thank You for this weekend; thank You for Your servants who spoke to us and we pray for them as they begin this Monday morning that they too will be Comforted this morning as You desire and I pray for each and every IDOK that we will experience Your Comfort this morning and that we will show up, shut up and let go of anything and everything that is keeping us from knowing and experiencing YOUR COMFORT. Help us let go, deliver us Lord from our addiction to our own comfort and this we ask for Jesus Name Sake and in His Name, Merit and Strength. And we pray this morning for these

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

Is The Picture Perfect?

IDOK DEVOTION for Friday, July 20, 2007

Hardly! And certainly, it was not painted by someone famous. Not even by one who thought she could. With each stroke of the brush she belittled her work; she struggled to keep it on the easel – but she did. At day’s end, it was finished; now it’s a testimony, year after year, for when she thinks she cannot, she knows with time and instruction, she can.

Placing our Time and our Trust in the Great Instructor makes all things possible.

Mark 10: 27 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

It may be hard right now and you may be thinking of scrapping the ‘canvas’ and putting away your ‘paint’ and your ‘brushes’. Please, Don’t! Give GOD your trust in this and wait to see what He ‘frames’ up for you.

Father, thank You that with You the impossible is possible. Thank You that You enable us to do more than we think we can. Thank You that You take the drawings and paintings and even the scribblings of our lives and You frame them into something of Beauty. Thank You Father, You are AWESOME. I ask You today to encourage and bless every soul who reads these words to trust You and give You all the times of their lives. And now we bring these precious ones and we pray for their health and wealth and that they may prosper according to Your Riches in Christ Jesus. We continue to ask You to protect our IDOK Troops in mind and body and spirit and to bring them home to us safe and sound and more in love with You than when they deployed. Not only in Iraq but other places we ask for Your Intervention. We know that corruption and evil is rampant but You are still in control and You are still our God so we pray for peace and successful conclusions to these conflicts. And we pray for revival in America. And all this we ask in Jesus Mighty Name.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

GO ON

IDOK DEVOTION for Wednesday, July 18, 2007

This was last night’s Bedtime quote by Charles Swindoll:
Grace means that God, in forgiving you, gives you the strength to endure the consequences. Grace frees us so that we can obey our Lord. It does not mean sin’s consequences are automatically removed. If I sin and in the process of sinning break my arm, when I find forgiveness from sin, I still have to deal with a broken bone.
Romans 6:17 NIV — But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.

As I read the words: ‘Grace means that God, in forgiving you, gives you the strength to endure the consequences’, I stopped before even going on to the next sentence to read it again just to hear those words again. By the very act of forgiving us Father is telling us to GO ON; to continue on with living a life that honors Him and yes the consequences of the sin may not be easy to deal with BUT God is there giving us the STRENGTH to do it!

This reminds me of a Scriptural Account, the account of the Woman who was snatched out of her house in the very act of adultery, the text says, and brought to Jesus by the Scribes and Pharisees. I don’t know if they cared so much about actually stoning the woman. What they really wanted was to ‘test’ Jesus. As it happened they were the ones who were tested – by the way they failed! But back to our point this morning. The penalty due the woman was death (by stoning). The Scribes and Pharisees knew that quite well. So did Jesus. But the stoning she did not get. What she got was forgiveness. She was forgiven of the PENALTY of adultery and in verses 11 and 12 she said and Jesus said:

11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

With this link you can read all of John chapter 8.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%208%20;&version=50;I see here that Jesus gave her the strength to get up off that ground and GO ON. The PENALTY for her sin was paid but she would still have to face ‘the world’ and I believe she did! I believe she drew upon the STRENGTH of the Lord Jesus Christ and she did GO ON. One of these days when we all get to Heaven, maybe she will tell us about it!

So whatever has gone on in your life this week; if you messed up and you have some consequences, get up off the ground, the PENALTY is paid, receive His Forgiveness AND the strength only He can give you AND GO ON!

Thank You Father Lord that You have paid our penalty and You have given us forgiveness and strength to GO ON. Please help us receive this from You. We don’t know all the needs, and we don’t even know the faces of each but You do and that is enough for us to KNOW that You are working in their lives. We pray Holy Spirit that You will give each of them strength to go on and to receive from You all that You desire to give them in whatever lot and circumstance they are today. We pray Thy Will be done.  We ask You to protect our People in mind and body and spirit and Holy Spirit help them and encourage them to Love even in a world of hate. And we pray for America that You will enable Her to repent and be revived for Jesus’ sake.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

Dennis, Joey and the Umbrella

IDOK DEVOTION for Monday, July 9, 2007

Friday, Dennis was right on target. Some days there is a lot of wisdom in the “Funny Papers”.
Picture this: Mom is standing at the door; Dennis and Joey are stepping off the stoop into the peppering rain and she hears Dennis say to Joey: “C’mon, Joey, If you wanna see a rainbow, you gotta put up with a little rain.”

How insightful is that?! As we live and breathe here on planet earth unpleasant and downright hard stuff comes our way but we can be sure if we keep looking up the rainbow will appear. However, there is one more thing I need to mention about Dennis and Joey and the rain … Dennis had the umbrella. I think the umbrella gave Dennis a leg up on his upbeat attitude, don’t you?

I think you and I have an umbrella against the enviable rain that falls upon each and every soul … His Name is Jesus. The question is though — do we have Dennis’ attitude about our rainfall?

Matthew 5: (NKJV) 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

At first, I thought this passage fit perfectly for our illustration, but now I think the ‘fit’ needs some consideration. Obviously, Dennis and Joey’s rain was one of those ‘hard’ things that come to us in life since they were looking for a rainbow. Bad stuff is inevitable upon the JUST (that’s us who are saved) and the UNJUST (that’s those who have not said yes to Jesus for Salvation). Before writing this IDOK devotion, I think I may have overlooked that in this passage it is Father who is doing the SENDING which gives me a whole new light on this. Father only sends GOOD STUFF, so the sun and rain in this passage are good and beneficial and pleasant, not bad; not something that we have to wade through and hope to find the rainbow. But rather the kind of rain that you stand out in with your head back, your mouth open, arms stretched out, twirling around laughing. And on top of all that glorious fun, you see the rainbow! It’s that kind of stuff He sends and we the JUST benefit from it. The UNJUST do too, but just maybe they don’t know from Whom it comes. We do! We need to tell them!
Think about it this way: lost folks benefit from just walking around this planet with us but they still need to come under our UMBRELLA for Eternal Protection and we still need to offer THE UMBRELLA to folks getting rained on — be it pleasant rain or unpleasant rain. I sure hope I get to share my UMBRELLA with someone who doesn’t have ONE today. How about you?

Father, thank you for the weekend; for the sermons heard, for family and friends, for good food, for little boy birthdays, for mercy and grace. Right now we are thinking of Steve and his surgeon and the medical staff and we pray for a rested, alert surgeon and staff and we pray for a textbook perfect procedure and recovery for Steve and for peace and comfort for Janet and all the family. We continue too to pray for Tonya that You will dissolve that tumor and make the surgery unnecessary; continue to minister to Erby’s family as they grieve and not only Erby’s family but others who still miss loved ones who have passed from here to there with You. We pray for strength and practical helps for children taking care of parents and we pray for repentance for wayward children who are diseased and ill because of sin and unholy choices. And we pray for healing of those whose minds are tortured – somehow Lord reach them even as You did the man in the tombs. Again we bring America and pray for her repentance and revival and again we pray for IDOK that we be willing and useful vessels to help this Country return to holiness. As we do daily we remember our IDOK Troops and we pray for their safety in mind and body and spirit. We ask You to bring them home to us safe and sound and more in love with You than when they deployed. Thank You for the UMBRELLA picture and as we see umbrellas and as we use them, help us praise You each time for the protection from hell and sin that You have given us in Christ Jesus and it is in His name we offer this prayer.

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
