IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 2008

Please allow a re-run today. Tuesday morning was early out of the house to attend a Memorial Service, then on to gathering materials for a family reunion on Saturday, later grocery shopping, a birthday party in the evening and now home with three young ones for the week. And in all this I started a fresh IDOK but did not get far.
Bernie is scheduled to start chemo treatments tomorrow. Please continue specific prayer for him and Linda.
July 9, 2004
First thing this morning I picked up a little book; we have previously visited it together: God’s Promises to a Woman’s Heart by Jane L. Fryar. I highly value this little book for the promises it contains and for the one who gave it to me. So let me share with you what I read: Vindication – Of all the essential and enriching things you can learn, My daughter, This one is key: Learn righteousness! Not a righteousness arising from the wreckage of excuses and self-deceit. Not an illusion of righteousness, you conjure up from smoke and mirrors and your own imagination. No, learn the righteousness that comes as My gift, that flows from the blood-stained cross of MY SON. In that cross you are righteous, vindicated, victorious!
I also read some in Isaiah this morning just for the sheer pleasure of reading it. Father God is so Awesome in the things He has done and recorded for us…. I hope you are taking advantage of The Written Word and enjoying it more than just what you read on this computer screen.
Then I moved on to Journey and read the saddest words. In the story a young Hindu woman came to America; a woman of Christian faith saw her weekly at the grocery checkout but Jesus was not mentioned. Then the Hindu’s mother died – the woman of Christian faith prayed and the Holy Spirit gave an open door. The saddest words? She gave me her usual warm smile and told me that she had been interested in knowing more about Jesus since she came to America. BUT, as she put it, “NO ONE HAS EVER TOLD ME.” No one had ever told her of RIGHTEOUSNESS – the free gift that flows from the blood-stained cross of the ONE AND ONLY JESUS.
I wonder how guilty I am of this?
Romans 3
9 Well then, are we [Jews] superior and better off than they? No, not at all. We have already charged that all men, both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles), are under sin [held down by and subject to its power and control].
10 As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one.
11 No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right, not even one!
Romans 10
8 But what does it say? The Word (God’s message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach,
9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Earlier we read the saddest of words and here THE WORDS of eternity!
Culture, creed, race, philosophy — matters only if it keeps one from saying YES.
But then someone has to tell them… May it be me , may it be you.
10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.
Father, thank You for again meeting with us; for again opening Your Word and Your Heart to us and Your Heart is for humanity… Give us such a heart, Father. Some of us have not the gift of evangelism and that You well know as You know with what You have gifted each of us but this I know that You can and You will open doors of ministry for each and everyone of us … You have; forgive us for those we have missed; those when we could have quietly given a Word of encouragement, a word of Praise. And so with that confessed and acknowledged, give us hearts and minds and wills to see those times today that You will grant us the privilege of speaking and living the Righteousness that You by Your Precious Son imparted to us. Lord Jesus, touch people today through me, through us IDOK — sisters and brothers to encourage them and those who have not yet said Yes to You and Your gift of Righteousness. Thank You Father for this reminder, help me to not forget for Jesus sake.
And Abba, we can only amen that four years later. We specifically pray for Bernie that chemo treatments will be successful with a few side effects as possible and with those unavoidable we pray for special grace to bear them. We pray for strength and a full recovery for Bernie and for Linda peace and encouragement. There are others listed here and we are unaware of their specific status at this time, we only know to pray for Your Awesome Presence with them and for their abandonment to Your Will; that will be more than enough. Thank You for Your protection of our IDOK Troops; thank that You are more than enough to care for them. Thank You for watching over Israel. Thank You for Your mercy and grace to America. Thank You for little boys who are 9 now and still give good night hugs and kisses. Thank You for children and grandchildren, for friends, for this great love You give to us. Thank You Daddy God. A Quiet Heart

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JULY 8, 2008

You may recall a week or so ago I was lamenting struggles with time – getting enough done. Today I read this from Annie Keary (page 9 of Keep a Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliot): “I think I find most help in trying to look on all the interruptions and hindrances to work that one has planned out for oneself as discipline, trials sent by God to help one against getting selfish over one’s work. Then one can feel that perhaps one’s true work –one’s work for God–consists in doing some trifling haphazard thing that has been thrown into one’s day. It is not a waste of time, as one is tempted to think, it is the most important part of the work of the day –the part one can best offer to God. After such a hindrance, do not rush after the planned work; trust that the time to finish it will be given sometime, and keep a quiet heart about it.”
How GREAT is that!? Sounds so like us, right? The interruptions I mean and thinking our work is so important it must get done. The quiet heart may not sound like all of us; least of all me! Oh to have this quiet heart continually and consistently! Now. Are you ready for this? Annie Keary was born in 1825 and passed into Life Eternal in 1879. What’s that tell you?
And Elisabeth Elliot writes on pages 12 and 13 of Keep a Quiet Heart (1995): “A willing acceptance of all that God assigns and a glad surrender of all that I am and have constitute the key to receiving the gift of a quiet heart. Whenever I have balked, the quietness goes. It is restored, and life immeasurably simplified, when I have trusted and obeyed.
So the quiet heart is a gift we receive when we trust and obey. Ouch! Sorry Elisabeth, please continue.
“God loves us with an everlasting love. He is unutterably merciful and kind, and sees to it that not a day passes without the opportunity for new applications of the old truth of becoming a child of God. This, to me, sums up the meaning of life.”
Psalm 16: 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.
One more excerpt. Page 19 (same book, same author): “One morning my computer simply would not obey me. What a nuisance. I had my work laid out. My timing figured, my mind all set. My work was delayed, my timing thrown off, my thinking interrupted. Then I remembered. It was not for nothing. This was part of the Plan (not mine, His). “Lord, You have assigned me my portion and my cup.”
Now if the interruption had been a human being instead of an infuriating mechanism, it would not have been so hard to see it as the most important part of the work of the day. But all is under my Father’s control: yes, recalcitrant computers, faulty transmissions, drawbridges which happen to be up when one is in a hurry. My portion. My cup. My lot is secure. My heart can be at peace. My Father is in charge. How simple!”
Anybody else need this as much as me?
Abba, this is great. Thank You for bringing it to my attention. And I want to open this gift of a quiet heart. Thank You for the reminder that I can have it. All I must do is trust and obey when interruptions come my way. Just trust and obey that what comes is my portion and my lot is secure. This is good. Thank You. We want to continue to thank You for our IDOK Troops, for their safety and protection; for keeping them secure; for the portion and cup You have for each of them. And we thank You for the portion and cup You have for each of these listed here. We know You are keeping them well today. And Israel and America and Your Church. Psalm 47:
1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
2 For the LORD Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the earth.
3 He will subdue the peoples under us,
And the nations under our feet.
4 He will choose our inheritance for us,
The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah
If I remember correctly there came a time when Jacob was finished with his flesh and he became exceedingly excellent. Verse 4 says Abba will choose our inheritance for us – the excellence of Jacob whom HE LOVES. Amen and amen!
5 God has gone up with a shout,
The LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations;
God sits on His holy throne.
9 The princes of the people have gathered together,
The people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He is greatly exalted.
Our God and Father is KING of ALL the earth and HE REIGNS. Sing praises to Him, dear ones; sing praises!
Abba, the fact that You are King, the fact that You reign is reason for me to rejoice. I am so grateful that You are King and You reign over all. I have placed my trust in You. I know You have never failed and You never shall. That is one time I can say NEVER and never have to repent of it. Thank You Father, thank You. Preserve and protect our IDOK Troops today. Thank You for their service; love on them, comfort them and make them strong in faith we pray. Thank You for allowing me the privilege of living here in America; help me conduct myself in such a way to bring life and hope to this Nation. Thank You for Your mercy upon us. Thank You for establishing this Country and Holy Spirit lift up the faithful and increase Your Church in numbers and faithfulness. And Father, forgive us. Moses I am not but he interceded for his people and we as IDOK are interceding now for America for mercy, for time and grace to repent. And Lord, live through us to help in America’s repentance. Comfort, encourage and give wisdom to Israel as She wages with Her enemies and I pray Lord that America will never be an enemy of Israel. I pray You will bring down from power and keep from power any man or woman who would hinder Israel in achieving the Peace that You have called Her to. Let no one take anything from Israel that You have given to Her as a Nation. And in all this we also pray for these listed here. Independence Requires Dependence

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2008

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

In the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence you will read: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator”. . . . Endowed by their CREATOR. That is beautiful. We have a CREATOR! We are not accidents, not a bang and poof here we are. We are an INTENTIONAL ACT brought about by our CREATOR. This is good!
And in the last paragraph we read: We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world . . . . To whom did they appeal? To whom did they petition for assistance in the great endeavor to be independent? THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD. That is a ‘mouth full’, folks! Our Creator IS THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD! I believe these drafters and signers of the Declaration of Independence were saying we may judge some things and we have judged some things to be unfair, unjust, un-called for, and down right unacceptable and we believe these judgments are in agreement with the judgments of THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD. And so we are appealing to Him for His help! What a concept! What a brilliant idea! Lets do it again! Lets appeal to THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD on behalf of America. Lets appeal to THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD to make us independent! First and foremost lets petition Him to set us free from the ravages and slavery of sin and the continual practice of it. And then lets get practical here for the good of America and pray to be independent of the tyrants and dictators who are strangling us with foreign oil and other products.
And the last sentence reads: And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. Oh my! Do you see that?! For the support of this declaration, with a FIRM RELIANCE on the protection of DIVINE PROVIDENCE. Do you see what I see? These drafters and signers of this Declaration of Independence knew if this ‘independence’ was going to work they had to have the support of The Creator, The Supreme Judge of the World, Divine Providence and they were determined to place FIRM RELIANCE in and upon HIM. Not only that, they EXPECTED Him to protect them and this endeavor. They expected Abba to help them. AND HE DID!! Oh my! We need some of this determination, resolution, Firm Reliance and expectation for a worse tyrant than the British Crown that is now trampling America. This tyrant is far superior in power and maliciousness that the British Crown. This tyrant is working from within to shackle and enslave us. And heretofore by our tolerance and complacency we are helping him bring down this Nation that God birthed! Who is this tyrant? I’d say he is not one that we can see with our physical eyes. However, if we exercise the Wisdom of THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD, we can discern the folks who are in league with him and we can refuse to vote them into political office or other places of leadership.
I want to celebrate the 4th of July and I plan to with food and fun. But I think the most patriotic thing I can do on the 4th of July and every other day is to Petition THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD for mercy and present myself to Him as a vessel or conduit of His Holy Spirit to proclaim the Gospel which will set the captives free if they will believe!
I want to show you one more thing in the Declaration and I will hush for today: we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. Christian Church, it is our privilege and responsibility to do this: to pledge to each other to give our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor for our Creator, King, Judge, Lord and Father who re-birthed us and birthed the United States of America for the furtherance of HIS GOSPEL. Now is the time for the Bride of Christ in the United States of America to sound this alarm: We have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD hates Sin and will NOT tolerate it forever. The good news is He LOVES the sinner and He will forgive every repentant Sinner.
The First and Foremost Eternal Declaration of Independence:
Luke 4:17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” Amen and Amen LORD JESUS! You are the GREAT LIBERATOR. Thank You for our freedom from the slavery of sin and eternal hell. Thank You for birthing the United States of America. Thank You for the men and women who lived before us that loved You and believed You. Forgive us for our back-sliding. Forgive us for our don’t care attitude about the rampant practice of sin in America and if not a don’t care attitude; at least a fear that keeps us from speaking up. Abba, help us celebrate real liberation and independence. I know we can do it if we will be fully and completely dependant upon You. Lord, we are; some just don’t know it. We can’t even take our next breath without You; none of us; not even the atheist. Abba, You are so AWESOME. I want You to show Your Glory to this world and I want to take part in You doing that. Thank You. Particularly bless our IDOK Troops on this 4th of July. Send them messages of our appreciation and protect them Father in mind and body and spirit and please bring each of our IDOK Troops home safe and sound. And on this day of celebration we would not forget our Sister Israel and we pray for Her Peace. We pray too for these listed here. I can think of some listed here who are in the worst of bondage – slavery to sin and I am praying now Abba that You will have mercy and You will yet rescue them.
