IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2008
With yesterday’s full day and a late start this morning please forgive me for giving you a re-run. This comes from November 16, 2005 (I think). And it is entitled

Mugs

Last night I came across something I have not seen in awhile – a mug with a message — no, not a “wanted poster” — a white drinking mug that reads: Dear God, when I grow up I want to be just like you.

It was just the right piece to add to the collection to enhance the overall motif. Which puts children and growing and Father in mind this morning. And just as the use of this collection will be enjoyed by both child and adult… So growing is something done by all. And when we were younger, people wondered what will she be like when she is grown? (I think some are still wondering!) And we as children dreamed of what we would be when we were grown. Those are important dreams; not to be taken lightly. As it is true for children and physical growth so is it true for adults and growth of mind and emotion and spirit — what we imbibe
SOAK, STEEP
to receive into the mind and retain imbibe moral principles
to assimilate or take into solution
DRINK to take in or up a sponge imbibes moisture
governs what we become.

How fitting for a drinking mug to carry this message. For so it is that what we as people imbibe, that is what we soak or steep ourselves in, what we meditate upon, what we ingest, what we receive into our minds and retain THAT determines WHO we are and who we become. Who DO we want to be like when we grow up? And what means are we employing to get there? And as with the drinking mug — it will hold whatever one choose to put in it and we as people choose what we will imbibe — good or not so good and there by it is determined what we will be like when we grow up.

Romans 8: 29 For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

See FATHER wants us to grow up to be just like Him. We cannot go wrong desiring the same for ourselves.

Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Matthew 26: 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

John 6: 53 And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood].

54 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.

May we all examine what is in our mug – what we are eating and drinking today— that will determine what our “mug” looks like tomorrow — what or who we look like tomorrow — who WILL we be like when we grow up?

Father, thank You. Thank You that we CAN grow into Your Likeness and that is Your desire for us; help it be our desire too; for we KNOW that if what we desire is what You desire it will be DONE. May this be done for each and every IDOK and each and every soul IDOKs love. Thank You for drinking mugs with messages and may this “mug” be a refreshing drink for those around me this day. Cause it to be that this countenance be a reflect of Yours Father… That will be glorious — make it so Father. And that would be a great place to close but Father I dare not without asking for protection and healing and health and food and clothing and shelter and peace of mind and contentment of heart and joy in the soul for each and every IDOK and for those IDOKs love and all that Father for Jesus sake.

And Abba these 2 plus years later thank You for the work You have done with this ‘mug’. And this morning I am thinking of Joann; she’s new to me since the writing of Mug and this morning she is in physical pain and I am asking that you heal those ‘busted’ ribs. Thank You for revealing Yourself to her and I pray for further healing of mind, body and spirit for Joann. Thank You for our IDOK Troops, keep them safe today and bring them home soon. Comfort and Guide Israel to Your Peace; convict and convince Americans to repent; refresh and cleanse Your Church and today Abba console and guide we Your IDOKs. Touch each of us today. Joann. IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2008

Happy Birthday, Andria Kaye – Momma loves you!!

We have been preparing and are attending the memorial service for Ruth (Nanny) Hersarling today, June 26; forgive me for being brief. We appreciate your prayers.
Philippians 2:
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
There’s a song entitled Beautiful Name. Zoe Girl sings it. Here are the lyrics. I hope you will read them closely and I hope they will be an encouragement to you as you honor that Beautiful Name today. How blessed we are that we have bowed our knees to Him in the here and now.

Did you notice it is mended hearts that share The Word? Did you notice that it is Jesus who takes back for you what has been lost? Did you notice in Christ Jesus you are NOT a captive any longer? And did you notice for the sake of HIS BEAUTIFUL NAME, we WILL press on? Press on dear one; press on – for His Name Sake, press on!
Abba, You know our hearts, You know weariness of mind and body and You are our comfort and our strength and for Your Beautiful Name’s Sake we will press on. Loved ones are traveling and we pray for traveling mercies; we pray for Your Favor to be upon them. We pray for our IDOK Troops, asking that You protect them in mind and body and spirit. We ask that You give life and health to Tye Blanton; and that You encourage and cause his mother and family to draw strength from You. In the Pink or Bent Out of Shape?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2008

Father, You know I have a few things I am mulling over; please make it plain. Encourage us today.
I am still thinking about something the Pastor said on Sunday. I have often prayed for more love but I’ve changed that prayer. You know how certain clothes just feel good when you put them on? They just wear well; you don’t have that feeling of oh I can’t wait to get home to get out of these things! Well this revised prayer is like that – it’s wearing well.
Pastor said and I am paraphrasing (I don’t do verbatimwell); it is not that we need more love, we have all the love inside us that we need, we just need to USE it. This has lightened my spiritual countenance and put a brighter face on my confidence. I am encouraged and I hope you will be too. I don’t have to beg Abba to give me more love for Him or for others. I only need to draw on the love He placed within me when Jesus came in the Holy Spirit to take up residence within this frame of mine. How could I have thought I needed to labor in prayer for the Holy Spirit to impart more love to me for Him and for others? I already have it! I am now thanking Him that He is teaching me to use what He has already given me!
It’s like going to your closet and finding a beautiful pink suit that fits perfectly – it hides certain unsightly bumps and bulges and at the same time accentuates more favorable lines. But not only is there the suit but, a pink camisole (the exact shade) and pink pumps (a perfect match) and to top it all pink pearls for your ears and your neck (and all this was in your closet, you had forgotten you had)! Now if you like pink and you are a female, you would be excited, right? (By the way I saw a little lady dressed just this way today at the grocery store. She was probably early 70’s and she was the cutest thing I had seen all day (excluding my beloved, of course)!
(Romans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.) When a he or she enters my ‘world’ that requires more love than I am accustom to giving out, I don’t have to beg and plead with God to give me more love, I only need to go to the ‘BANK’ and withdraw the amount I need for the moment. It’s like all I have to do is write the check and ‘pay what I owe’. There is never a worry of over-drawing. He has deposited an unlimited supply and He has placed my name on the account! Is that fabulous or what?! This account has your name too; all who have received Jesus as Savior have access to the ‘BANK’!
And it’s not just LOVE. It’s other stuff too; like patience and peace. Let me give you an example and then I am done for today. I was about to panic this morning, computer related. I thought something was lost and my natural nature is to over-react, to get all bent out of shape. I should say ‘get bent out of God’s Shape’ But this time I didn’t loose my peace. I wrote a check. (Romans 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Genesis 1: 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.) See what I mean – loosing our cool (peace) is getting bent out of God’s Shape? But we don’t have to do that and we don’t have to beg or plead in prayer asking Father for more patience or self-control. We HAVE IT in abundance already in Christ Jesus. We just need to apply it, use what we already have!! I think this is GREAT. Don’t you? It’s changing my praying. I can do a lot more praising and thanking now. I hope the color pink and every check you write to pay the phone bill (etc.) will remind you of Abba’s Bank and that your name’s on the account.
Father, again thank You. I like this and I am counting on You to continue to use it in my heart and in the hearts of our IDOKs and any others who may read it. Thank You for giving Yourself to us; in You we have all we could ever need or desire. Thank You. Comfort and bless these who are grieving; heal the sick; relieve the troubled and guard the wayward while you bring them safely home. Protect our IDOK Troops in mind and body and spirit; please bring them safely home at the appointed time. Protect Israel and especially now with what Israel is contemplating, cause America to stand with Her and aid her I pray. Again we pray for a President that will turn the hearts of the People of America to You Lord Jesus. Come Apart or Come Apart

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2008

Mark 6:
30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught.
31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.
32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.
They gathered to Jesus. THAT my dear ones is an excellent idea for us today. Gather ourselves, come to Jesus and rest a while. The Apostles had been coming and going, so much so they had had no time to eat. I think I know why they did not have time to eat – there was no Chick-Fil-A on the way to and from. Notice what they did when they gathered to Jesus. They TALKED to HIM. They told Him ALL they had done and ALL they had taught. Could it be that we need to gather ourselves to Jesus and discuss with Him what WE have been doing and what WE have been teaching? Maybe we need to come apart before we ‘come apart’. That’s my plan for today – to come apart before I come apart. To gather myself to Jesus and talk to Him about my comings and goings (and yours too) and again settle into His REST. I encourage you to do the same. If that ‘come apart’ can be a couple hours – GREAT. But even 10 minutes will do more than you know: Chick-Fil-A has good food for on the go food; but a slow-cooked pot of fresh butter beans, sauteed (deep frying is not good for you) chicken, Cole slaw and cornbread cooked at home with love — yummy – is so much better! Gather to Jesus, tell HIM ALL and REST!
Hebrews 4:
9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Abba, I am petitioning You now for such a ‘meal’ with You – to come apart with You today LORD Jesus and tell You all and settle into Your Rest again. I pray that for our IDOKs too that somehow they will make those moments of respite with You. You know the cares of our hearts and we are now entrusting them to You. You know the ones grieving. And we entrust the passing of Nanny (Ruth Hensarling) to You. We entrust the family to You and the services and days to follow – You are indescribably good and You know best and it is for that we pray. We pray too for our IDOK Troops for protection for them and their families here at home. We pray for peace of mind for them, for these and all who will read here. And we are thinking of Bernie today. You know how dear he is to us. It is so good to know he is even more dear to You. It is good to know that whatever comes You know and You do all things well. It is good to know that You have a plan in this world of madness. It is good to know Lord that You are Good, indescribably good always and forever. We pray for the peace of Israel, for the repentance of America and for the refreshing and cleansing of the Bride of Christ for Your Name Sake Lord Jesus. Amen and amen. Sheri, Tyler, Hannah. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing.
