Hebrews 12: 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. Now that we have come to Mount Zion, what do we see, what shall we see? The City of the Living God. And what is this City of the Living God like? I am convinced with our minds still subject to sin we cannot imagine the glories of it but lets try. Revelation 21: 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Just this verse tells me that Abba has created some spectacular, stupendous, superlative, structures in this City that you and I call HOME. And yes we can call it home NOW. Verse 23 of Hebrews 12 says we are REGISTERED IN HEAVEN. Did you notice that ‘registered’ is PAST tense – already having taken place. So since we have come to Mount Zion we ARE NOW registered in Heaven. That must be why I have heard some evangelist asks do you have your reservations? And we can respond in Christ Jesus we most assuredly do!! Lets go back to the City prepared for us. I am certain the Holy Spirit chose carefully His word here (like He chooses ALL His words carefully!). And it says Abba has prepared His City for us the way a Bride adorns herself for her husband. I don’t know much about Jewish wedding tradition, wish I did – maybe I will study that! Anyway lets just think about how a young woman having prayed and Abba having brought into her life the young man He has chosen for her and Mom and Dad are so excited too and wedding planning begins. Do you see the excitement? Do you see the sparing no expense? Do you see the thrill as each and every detail is put in place? I think that does not even begin to describe what Abba has done for us. And yes HE SPARED NO EXPENSE to give us His City. John 3:16 16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. Ponder on this today. To you to whom He has given so much already why would He not give you all you need today? Romans 8: 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Abba, thank You is so little to say in response to You but for now until we have a more perfect vocabulary we say thank You Daddy God. Oh how beautiful are the meaning of those words. Daddy God. Yes, Lord, thank You. Your City, what a place for You to prepare for us. Thank You. And thank You that here and now You have and are yet preparing for us. Thank You that today is victory day. Help us walk in it today; help us refuse to take any detours today. Thank You for the love and mercy, forgiveness, provisions and grace that You are and shall lavish upon each and every IDOK today. Thank You for watching carefully and protecting our IDOK Troops today. And in particular we pray for Jason, his wife and family. We know You have great plans for Jason and we petition for all strength and grace, will and determination for these plans to come to be and in addition we pray for comfort and pain relief and healing. Thank You for Your Love and Plans for Israel and as You have commanded we pray for her Peace. We pray too for this Nation called America, a place we are grateful to live, a place that has given so much and yes taken so much too. Abba, have mercy. Holy Spirit pour out Yourself here and bring conviction of sin, of righteousness and judgment to come; soften the hearts of people to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Expose the lies of false prophets; forgive and heal America we pray. Thank You for Vacation Bible Schools being conducted this week. Equip and give strength to the workers, to the parents and give bright eyes and sweet hearts to the children to Hear You speak to them this week. Internet Daughters of the KING THE WHITE STONE His Ministry to You
It’s been a LONG day and it is nearly over; so I plan to be brief. Even on days that seem to have arisen from the opposite of Heaven, our Abba is still in control. More and more we must trust His love for us. More and more we must trust that He is in control and that if He allows it, we by His Grace can bear it. Hebrews 12: 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. This is a portion of the Pastor’s text on Sunday morning. Here in this section of Hebrews a comparison is made between Mount Sinai and Mount Zion. We all begin at Mount Sinai. The Pastor said it is a fearful place. Fearful because at Mount Sinai we must either keep the law perfectly or die an eternal death. Pastor said we have heard it preached that there is only one way to Heaven and that way is Jesus. Then he told us that was not true. He said there are two ways to Heaven. Any soul who lives a perfect life; that is any soul who NEVER, EVER breaks the perfect law (all 10 Commandments) of God from birth to death will be welcomed into Heaven. Know anyone like that? Sure isn’t me!!! But I do know someone who qualifies. His name is JESUS. And Jesus is our way from Mount Sinai to Mount Zion. Mount Zion is the place of forgiveness and grace! Read the text again. 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. The first word in verse 22 is a GREAT word: But. It means something has happened. It means that what would normally be is not. It means God has intervened!! Hallelujah!! And because of Him, we have left Mount Sinai and we have come to the city of the Living God. Let those words sink in – the city of the Living God. It’s a real place and our Abba is the LIVING GOD. Ponder on that and maybe we will take up it again on Wednesday. This feels good!! Abba, I have missed this IDOK ministry. Thank You for returning me. Thank You too for this passage in Hebrews. Thank You Lord Jesus for bringing us to Mount Zion. Thank You that You have not left us to die eternally in Sinai. Right now we are thinking of Bernie; he’s experiencing some physical difficulties and we’d like for him to be made well and Steve too and others listed here. And not just physical healings but healings of minds, emotions and the refreshing of spirit in all who are weary. And comfort for those grieving and companionship for those who are lonely; and courage for those with fears and doubts and wisdom for those perplexed and whatever else – Lord You know our needs. I am so glad that You do and You are willing to supply them all. Thank You. And for our IDOK Troops we pray for their safe keeping; love on them today for us we pray and bring them home to family and friends as soon as practical. And there are other things troubling us, things here on this SOIL and it’s mostly sin, in all its forms – greed, lies, perversion, murder, hatred – the list seems endless. Abba, have mercy; give the people of America grace and space to repent. Please pour out Your Conviction upon us. Lord Bless us with conviction of sin; cause us to cry out for relief from the burden of sin. Cause us to hate our sins. Soften our hearts, open our blinded eyes. Help us see Your Beauty and Your Gift of Life Everlasting and Life Abundant here and now. And Lord thy will be done with the election. Protect Israel, we pray for Her peace. We pray for revival in our Your Churches and we pray for Vacation Bible Schools. We want to see You revealed to boys and girls and we pray as You have made them ready they will believe and be saved. What we really want to see is boys and girls to fall in love with You Jesus. We pray that for us adults too. Thank You for today. Bless each reader, give them a renewed sense of Your Sweet Presence. Where to begin??? Where have I been? Good question. Last Monday, June 2, 2008, about mid-day a sector went bad in our computer’s hard drive which left me with No email, No Internet Access – no nothing!! We have now been restored BUT not all. My email address book has not been recovered. So all IDOK e-mail addresses have to be re-entered one by one – hopefully the 5/22/08 address book print out was up to date. SO posting to the Blog is the best I can do until all 100 plus addresses have been re-entered. IDOKs if you are reading this, please send me an e-mail; that would be a much easier way to add you back.
Sunday’s Services were good! As I sang (along with the rest of the congregation) the closing hymn I looked at the words closely and I’d like for us to do that together this morning. It is a most powerful song; a song of salvation! Just as I Am, Without One Plea By: Charlotte Elliott Just as I am, without one plea But that thy blood was shed for me And that thou bidd’st me come to thee O Lamb of God, I come, I come. In this stanza we confess without Jesus we have no hope to be saved. We confess He ALONE, the Lamb of God can save us; ONLY the Blood of Jesus can pay for our sins and moreover, we confess He has called us to Himself and because He has called we have answered YES! Just as I am and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot, To thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Here we are not saying let me wait a little longer; we are believing NOW is the time of salvation. We are saying my sin is dark, my sin has made me filthy and ONLY the Blood of the Lamb of God is enough to make me clean. Do you see that? CLEAN! The BLOOD of the LAMB OF GOD makes YOU clean!!! And in deed now is the time!! Why would any lost soul wait? Aren’t you glad you didn’t wait? Just as I am, though tossed about With many a conflict, many a doubt, Fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am – coming now just as I am, even though I don’t have it all together; hardly even know which end is up; have wars waging on the inside and doubts rolling around in my head but despite the fightings and the fears LAMB of GOD I say yes! Isn’t that what you did? I did! Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; Sight, riches, healing of the mind, Yea, all I need, in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. And don’t you love this? Just as I am, too poor to save myself; too wretched to be good; and too blind to see, BUT the LAMB of GOD has opened my eyes and given me sight to see HIM; moreover He has given you and me HIS riches and yes, He has healed our minds! YES, He is ALL we need. Just as I am, thou wilt receive, Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; Because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Oh how blessed is this?! Now that I have come I see, Lamb of God, You have received me. You have welcomed me. You have pardoned me. You have cleansed me. You have relieved me of all my sin and guilt and shame. How Lamb of God, how can this be? And He said, because you have BELIEVED!! Oh sisters (and brothers) can you shout on that one? Just a I am; thy love unknown Has broken every barrier down; Now to be thine, yea, thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. And finally; Oh, Lamb of God, a love like Yours I have never known; Your love for me has broken down my every resistance; gladly now I am Yours and Yours alone!! IDOKs, can you sing this song this morning? Can you sing this song of salvation? Then sing, my dear ones, sing!! John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Abba, I am so grateful to have this access again. Thank you for the good I see coming and even the good I don’t see yet. Thank You for what You are doing in the lives of each of us. Thank You that all things do work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purposes. Thank You Lord Jesus, Lamb of God, for saving this lost ‘goat’ and making me a sheep. And now we come together as the sheep of Your pasture and we pray for one another, for these listed here and particularly the Therrell family, asking for comfort and grace to grieve in holiness the passing of Buddy. We pray for the safety and protection of our IDOK Troops, not just physically but minds and spirits too. We pray for the Peace of Israel and for America to have the guts to stand with Her. We pray for America that You will have mercy on Her and give space and grace to repent. We pray for the presidential nominees, You know what we need and Thy Will be done we pray. All is well but all is not as usual. My computer crashed around mid day Monday, June 2, 2008. A new hard drive has been purchased and installed and gratefully MUCH has been recovered but my most valuable email address book and ALL stored email messages have been lost. So e-mailing IDOK DEVOTIONS as I have done before is not in our near future. Also with this ‘new computer’ there are conflicts with internet accounts that I have not worked out as yet. In a nutshell I don’t know when I will be e-mailing IDOK DEVOTIONS. Hopefully, I will be back here on Monday to post. See you when I can — as the Lord wills.
