Psalm 27 1 THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, [even then] in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. 5 For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. 6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
Did you notice verse 2 is past tense and verse 3 is future tense? Remember His Faithfulness in the past and we will have hope for the future. Notice the ONE thing the Psalmist was asking – that he will SEEK the LORD always and behold the BEAUTY of THE LORD. I think David was right. Verse 5 confirms that troubles will come but he is confident that he will be hidden; that he will be SAFE in the LORD. Why? Because he has chosen and has prayed that he will meditate and consider and gaze upon the BEAUTY of THE LORD. The Pastor said Sunday that my enemies were my ‘own’ thoughts – those thoughts that are contrary to the Word of the LORD. And those kinds of thoughts will surely come today and it is then that I must gaze upon the BEAUTY of THE LORD and offer the sacrifice of praise. And it is then I will be victorious. This is true for you too. Abba, thank You for promised and sure victories in Christ Jesus our Savior and LORD. Thank You for time to rest and remember and thank You for times to pick up and advance and my prayer is that we will advance today for Your Sake. And our prayer for these here is they will advance today; advance in believing that You do all things well and that You love us always in all times, all seasons, all circumstances, especially the ones that seem adverse to us. We pray for protection of our IDOK Troops, keep them safe today in mind, body and spirit. We pray for the Peace of Israel and the fortitude of America to stand with Her and we pray for space and grace for America to repent. Abba, I am grateful to live here in America and love that You birthed this Nation, I am grateful for all that is good about America but I sad for Her too. I am sad and grieved that at large sin is glorified and You are blasphemed. I am asking You to forgive, please grant space and grace for souls to repent. I am late today and shall be brief. This prayer request came yesterday – forgive my delay. It’s hard to believe but I did not power up the computer yesterday. Brad came in at church & sat beside me. He had just gotten off the phone W/Hawk. It’s ‘unofficial’ but one of his guys that extended for 6 months in Afghanistan was killed. I totally lost it & left church. Frank had the morning prayer & had to lock the outside doors. He didn’t have a clue where I was. Since coming home I’ve been switching between Fox news, CNN, & the others. CNN ran a line about one killed. I haven’t talked to Hawk. Jodi’s brother & his family are here for the weekend & they’ve all gone to church W/her family. I don’t know any details but please remember this family. Abba, this is not the news any family would want on Memorial Day Weekend or any other weekend. And Holy Spirit we are counting on You to console and undergird this family and friends of this dearly loved Soldier. We are made quiet by this and we pray You will quiet the souls of these hurting so deeply. Many have fallen over the years since America began and while we are grateful for freedom, we know it comes at a precious price and You know fully well and better than we the price for freedom. We are grateful that You have placed us here in these United States and even as I speak that I think we are not united, not in a way that is holy and healthy. Forgive us Abba and bring us to holiness. Forgive America and give her space and grace to repent. As we remember today those who have given life and blood for this Country, comfort us and do a work in our hearts that makes their sacrifice not in vain. And Lord Jesus even more than that move and anoint us to REMEMBER Your Holy and Everlasting Sacrifice for Eternal Freedom and to live holy lives here and now as we wait for You to return for us. And we pray now for our IDOK Troops today, that You will encourage them, protect them in mind and body and spirit. I pray too today for each and every IDOK and their families, my desire and petition for each is to REMEMBER YOU. To remember that Your Body was broken and Your Blood was Shed for us to be free from sin and the wage of eternal death. I pray that not only will we remember You but that we will denounce pride and any other sin that is keeping us from living in holiness. Hebrews 4: Amplified Bible 14 Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him]. 15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. 16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. I am ready now to tell you that I finished the book, The Shack, by William P. Young but as to anything more I am still digesting. However, here is an excerpt. It fits well with today’s text. …and Mack followed. “I have been told so many lies, ” he admitted. Jesus looked at him and then with one arm pulled Mack in and hugged him. ” I know, Mack, so have I. I just didn’t believe them.” Together they began the walk… . If we are uncomfortable with the ‘humanity’ of Jesus, maybe it is because we don’t understand what it really means to be human. But we can learn and He is willing to teach us. How Great, How Great is our God Sing with me How Great, How Great is Our God And all will see how Great is our God. Abba, I know little but I want to learn as much as You can teach me with the limitations I now have. I don’t know what You want me to do with what I have been reading. I know it has sparked something within, something of what I am not sure but I know You are more AWESOME than I know today. And Lord, I like You being Perfect Human. I like that You never believed the lies You were told in the Wilderness and in the carpenter shop and wherever else, by the Evil One and his followers and I am grateful that You understand and I am grateful that in You I am no longer condemned that I did believe the lies I’ve been told and without Your help Holy Spirit I will believe lies again. Abba, thank You. And help me be real here about all this, real and balanced for Your Glory, my good and the good of others. We have people to pray for today. People we love, people we know little about but people we know need strength, knowledge, courage, discernment and who want to be healed, who want to hear both physically and spiritually. Help us do that. We ask so much it seems; help us worship more than we ask. Help us worship as we ask. I think Heaven is much much greater and grander than we can even imagine and we want to come there when You have made our place ready there. Here and today we are concerned too with things of earth: IDOK Troops that we want You to protect and keep safe in all ways, mind, body and spirit. We are concerned about high gasoline prices, the prices irritate us, forgive us. Thank You that You are our Provider and no human however bent away from You that one is can keep You from taking care of us in this world. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing.
