Are We Convincible?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2008

Something to ponder: a quote accredited to Maya Angelou: ‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.’
I like that!!

First I read this in Colossians 3: 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
This passage is so big how do we get our minds around it? Only the Holy Spirit Himself can speak to each of our hearts the impact He desires for these most powerful, promising words. And then I read these verses: 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
If you go back to verse 11 ‘God’s chosen people’ becomes clear. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
So WE, you and me, ALL who are IN Christ, are holy and dearly loved. Can you appreciate that today? Can you appreciate that you ARE dearly loved today? But not only are we dearly loved, we are holy in Christ Jesus. That’s harder, isn’t it? We think we are being humble if we refrain from seeing ourselves as holy, don’t we? Yet, He said we are a holy people. That is the way ABBA sees us. Who are we to refuse to see ourselves as He sees us? And what do we miss out on if we continue to resist this Word to us? Is it possible that we will go lacking in some crucial elements of holy living? I think so. Like compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. If we refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to convince us that we are holy, doesn’t it seem reasonable that we will continue to manifest unholy behavior? If we refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to convince us that we are dearly loved by ABBA, doesn’t it seem entirely possible that we will not love others or even ourselves as He has commanded us to love? If we refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to convince us that we are fully forgiven, isn’t it highly likely that we will not readily forgive others? Can we begin today to allow the Holy Spirit to wrap our arms around this TRUTH: that we in Christ Jesus are a holy people that Abba Dearly LOVES? I think really, really believing this just may be one of the greatest honors we can give our KING and Father. Do you agree?
Holy Spirit, our request to You today is that day by day we surrender to You and allow You to convince us more and more that in You Christ Jesus we have become a holy people, a people that You ABBA dearly love. A holy people that You desire to live through manifesting Your compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and forgiveness to this world. And ABBA as best we know how this morning we come in compassion and humility on behalf of these listed here asking You for help for Patti’s Family. George. Brennan and his family. Joshua. Branson. IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2008

Psalm 116:
12 What shall I render to the LORD
For all His benefits toward me? How often do we question, maybe with friends or just within ourselves – The Lord has been so good to me, what can I do for Him? This is what we can do.
13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the LORD. We can take up the ‘cup of salvation’. We can call upon the LORD. But what does that mean? This Cup of Salvation? ‘Drink ye all of it’, comes to mind. What can we do to demonstrate our gratitude for salvation? We can commune with our Lord daily. We can live in an attitude of Communion. We can daily recall and ‘drink’ in His Sacrifice for us. That’s what we can do for Him – Commune with Him. Another verse comes to mind. Seek ye first, His kingdom and His Righteousness and what? All these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) If we will commune with Him continually, He will take care of all that stuff inside us and all that stuff that goes on around us.
14 I will pay my vows to the LORD
Now in the presence of all His people. It is so important for us to be people of integrity. To be people of our word. To say what we mean and mean what we say. This honors Him among all the peoples. And this next verse I have been thinking about since last evening when I knew Patti’s Homecoming was soon.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
Is the death of His saints. There is no doubt in my mind when a saint exhales here and inhales there, Abba is so glad to see that son or daughter — He rejoices to welcome them HOME. But I think that is not the only ‘death’ over which Father rejoices. I think He rejoices, maybe even comments to the angels, “look at that!” when a son or daughter takes more and more steps in ‘dying’ to his or her own way of doing things and becomes more and more alive to living His Way. It is then we can with humble pride say:
16 O LORD, truly I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of the LORD. Amen and amen. Make it so, LORD. Make it so!
A prayer update: Patti went to be with the Lord last night(9/10) around 9:15 PM.
She faced the end with remarkable strength and faith. Tony and family are doing ok, thanks to your prayers lifting them up. Her battle is over and she is at rest. Thanks again for all your support. Tony said he and Patti don’t know what they would have done without everyone helping them these past months.
Prayer request: this comes from Kathy P.: This is my nephew Jimmy and his wife Heather asking for your prayers for Brennan. Many of you know Brennan if for no other reason then I talk about him all the time. He will be 5 on Oct 5 and because of his being born 3 months early he still does not talk. This test could reveal a lot to us or then again God may choose not show us anything at this time. My prayer is that God will be glorified in this. God knows Brennan better then we can even think. I am asking you to please be in prayer for Jimmy, Heather, and Brennan on Friday morning. I will be with them. This little boy has my heart in his hands because of his special needs. God has taught me just how special all His children are to Him through Brennan.
Prayer request from Shannon W. : I would like to ask you to please add my 5 year old son Branson to the prayer request. Monday afternoon he jumped off the monkey bars at the playground and Compound Fractured his arm and dislocated his elbow we went to surgery Monday night and will hopefully get to go home tomorrow. We are just asking for him not to be in a lot of pain and to heal quickly.
Abba, more children in need of Your touch and not just the children but the moms and dads and grandparents too. Two 5 year old boys, one with a compound fracture to keep quiet so bones can heal. Branson will surely need You to reduce his pain and knit those bones together just right. And Brennan, the doctors so far are not sure what is the cause of Brennan’s condition but You are. You know exactly what is causing Brennan’s difficulties. So we pray that You will not only reveal the cause but the cure for Brennan. We pray both he and Branson will soon be well again. We pray for comfort for Patti’s family; we pray for close friends to be near with prayers and practical helps. We pray for our IDOK Troops, for their safety, for their courage to fail not and for their love and trust in You to grow more and more. We pray for a successful conclusion to this war. We pray for the peace and protection of Israel; for the repentance of America and for Your Will to be done for us in November’s election. And Father, I pray for each and every IDOK, for each and every Reader that You will open Your Word to them; make it come alive on the page and inside of them. Ah! So That’s Why!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2008


Today I am particularly humbly proud to be a daughter of the THE GREAT KING. Today, I am keenly aware that He is AWESOME and I cannot fathom that He is allowing me to minister in His Name. Blessed be the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ!!
Soon into my day I read this:
You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. I John 4:4
I never want to go back to my life of defeat. I live in alertness daily. However, God used my defeat to bring me to a place of ministry and authenticity I would never have known. It was not until I was broken that God was released to create in me a healthy heart and teach me the humility and compassion of a true servant.
I have a long way to go, but I have put the devil on notice: he may make my life very difficult, but he cannot make me quit. For, I like you, am one of God’s dear children, and I have overcome the spirits of darkness because of the One who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world. Written by Beth Moore. Page 265. Breaking Free Day by Day.
And the day has only gotten better from there. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
Ephesians 1:
2 May grace (God’s unmerited favor) and spiritual peace [which means peace with God and harmony, unity, and undisturbedness] be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!
4 Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
5 For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]–
6 [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
Ah! So that’s why!! Again I say Blessed be the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Update on Janie and Patti:
Janie was able to make the trip to New York for the US OPEN TENNIS with me. We
Had a great trip in between scheduling places for Janie’s mother to go to avoid
The hurricane. Our daughter Brittany did a great job of transporting her, the
Grandkids and four dogs all over the state to be in a safe place. Now we await
The next hurricane. Pray that hurricane ILKE will miss us. Janie is getting
Stronger but the stress of dealing with the hurricanes keeps her stomach
Churning. We head back to Little Rock on the 22nd of Sept. For her last chemo
Treatment.
Patti S has hospice helping Tony and her deal with her last days. She has
Been with her grandkids and kids as much as possible these past couple of weeks.
She continues to take daily trips to the hospital for blood and platelets to
Help her cope with the cancer. They give her medication daily to ease the pain.
We pray that the Lord will have mercy on her and let her go peacefully. They
Send you all much love for all the prayers and financial support you have given
Them. They said they don’t know what they would have done without all the help
From our friends. You guys are the best.
ABBA, You chose us because of who YOU ARE. Thank You. Thank You that in Christ Jesus we are pleasing to You. Thank You that You allow us the blessed privilege of ministering in Your Name. Blessed be Your Name. And Lord for Your own name sake we bring these listed here to You for You to pour out Your Peace and mercy and healing and grace upon each of them, particularly Janie, Patti, Joshua, Davis and his family, Brooklyn and her family, Kim and her Fiancee, the Family from Olive Baptist, Bernie, Steve, Heather and Brandon – all of them, Lord. We bring our IDOK Troops and we praise You for the protection already given to each of them and for the protection that You continue to graciously give to them. We pray for each of them a safe return home to family and friends and we pray for a successful conclusion to the war in Iraq and we pray for wisdom in other pending arenas of conflict and danger. Help us know what it right to do and how to do it. Again we pray for Israel and their safety and Peace, for America to have the wisdom and backbone to stand with Israel. We pray for revival in America and we pray for the presidential candidates, for truth to be valued and spoken. We pray for lies to be exposed and forsaken by the candidates and the voters. ABBA, I am asking You to manifest Your Glory upon the Ones You have chosen to lead this Country. And I pray for mercy upon the ones You have not chosen and I pray it become increasingly evident whom You have chosen. Thank You for Your mercy. Thank You for hearing our prayers. And Father, I am personally asking You for confirmation within my own spirit and in the spirit of any IDOK who desires such confirmation that You have raised up a Standard to stand against the flood of corruption and evil that has been spewing for a long time now.
