A Sound of Praise

Before I sign off … As the Thompson Computer Driver will be dismantled shortly, here’s a praise report:

Kathie, Thank you for all the prayers and concern. I felt an immense peace and comfort as time for the surgery approached. I know I was uplifted by all the prayers and was in His hands through out the surgery. I am home (Sat) and using a walker to get around. I have one numb foot but it is improving daily. I can’t sit very long so I won’t be on the computer much. Sound a Praise for God’s goodness and mercy! In His love,Mabel

‘Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.’
“Love one another, as I have loved you.” John 13:34

I am already missing the ability to communicate with you. We hope each of you have a Wonderful Time of Thanksgiving and all the turkey and dressing you can hold!!

Kathie And Jerry too!

Blank Page and More (A Rerun – Date Uncertain)

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2008
IDOKs are suspended until Tuesday, December 2 – Gosh! That sounds like a very long time. The Thompson Computer Drive has configuration issues that it seems only the ‘shop’ can address – ABBA knows I have tried!!!
And with Thanksgiving just around the corner, here is a link you don’t want to miss – it made me cry grateful tears. http://www.cpmsglife2.org/MSG/Pres/td/td1.html

On a day certain in early IDOK history, I sat before my computer screen with at ‘blank page’. Some of you who have been with me for a long time will remember that day. That was the day of ‘no devotion’ – nothing came that day. No Text. No story. No quip. Just prayer. And the prayer, was in part, ‘Daddy I got a blank page here and it scares me.’ And as memory serves, prayer was just right for some IDOKs that day – a ‘devotion’ was not what was needed. And He taught me something about fear that day and maybe some others too.
Well, this morning we have what I would say is akin to a blank page. It’s one of those days I really don’t want to ‘teach a lesson’. I don’t want to put words on a page to ‘make us think hard’ or words to cause us to look deep into our hearts and see what is there and what needs to be changed. It’s one of those days that I’d rather as the surgeon might say, put away the scalpel or the teacher who says, lets take the class outside today so we can just enjoy the sights and sounds and smells and feels of Nature. And so this morning I just want to be quiet and just read a piece of Peace —
Psalm 25(New Century Version):
8 The LORD is good and right; He points sinners to the right way.
9 He shows those who are humble how to do right, and He teaches them His ways.
10 All the LORD’s ways are loving and true for those who follow the demands of His agreement.
11 For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my many sins.
12 Are there those who respect the LORD? He will point them to the best way.
13 They will enjoy a good life, and their children will inherit the land.
14 The LORD tells His secrets to those who respect Him; He tells them about His agreement.
15 My eyes are always looking to the LORD for help. He will keep me from any traps.
And my friends, these ‘I don’t want to’ days are meant to be rare ones. So enjoy one! Can you hear Him? He is saying: ‘I know you don’t want to and it’s okay, as long as you spend the day with me.’
Mark 6 (KJV):
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
Lord, I just want to sit here, don’t want to go over all the ills of the world with You — You know them and many of them I know. I just want to sit here and be quiet and snuggle up into Your Heart and be held. I don’t really want to talk much, just want to be still and hear the beat of Your Heart in my ear and sense the warmth of Your arms around my shoulders. Ahh that feels good, Lord. Thank You. I love you. Thank You for loving me too. Traveling mercies for IDOKs on the road and wisdom for IDOKs making decisions about church affiliation. Baggage – AnyBody Got Some?

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2008

I have great news (at least it appears to be at this moment), computer disfigurement has been resolved and I am excited and grateful!! It’s also 7:00 AM and nothing on the screen yet. SO lets revisit an old IDOK Devotion. I did not archive this one with a date, not sure why; but have noticed there are a lot of them with no date. Hopefully, this one will seem FRESH anyway.

Baggage? We know the common definition for it, don’t we? Those bags we carry our stuff in when we go from home on vacation. But even Webster gives the definition of baggage that many of us have come to understand: things (as objects, circumstances, or beliefs) that get in the way. Okay. Now let us read today’s Scripture text. I Samuel 17: 22 Then David left his baggage in the care of the baggage keeper, and ran to the battle line and entered in order to greet his brothers.
Oh my goodness!!! What a lesson! Look again at the definition of baggage. Things that get in the way.
If we are going to be enabled to wage war in God’s army, if we are going to see victory in our lives, if we are going to greet and bless and give the message of Love and Grace from our Father to our brothers and sisters, friends and family and strangers who are yet to be friends, we are going to have to do in the Spirit as David did in the physical here in today’s text. Put down the baggage! Set down those old hurts that keep us from trying again; walk away from those behaviors that are devouring our well being; give up those unrealistic expectations we place on other people. We can name it. We each can name our own baggage. We know the “brand” of baggage we are waking up with and carrying, dragging daily into our lives. (And perchance, we are not really sure.. Pray! He knows! ) LEAVE it! Leave the BAGGAGE with THE Baggage Keeper. And I dare say, none of us are asking who is the Baggage Keeper? We all know, don’t we? We all know there is ONE who can handle ALL our baggage. We all know He is JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS! He is the ONLY one who knows how to handle our baggage and use it for His Glory and our good. The baggage we bring to HIM, He will sort through, categorize and store and when the time is right He will restore that baggage to us in such a way that it becomes a blessing to not only us but we can use it to advance His Kingdom and grow and give strength and comfort to others. Oh, my goodness! What a God – Baggage Keeper – He is!!
Job 14: 17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And You wrap up my iniquity.
Micah 7: 18 Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in unchanging love.
19 He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.
20 You will give truth to Jacob And unchanging love to Abraham, Which You swore to our forefathers From the days of old.
Romans 8: 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Even ALL our Baggage — all that SOILED stuff.
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  source
Not even our BAGGAGE!
Father, thank You. Thank You that You have taken our baggage and will take more if we will set it down at the Cross of Jesus. Thank You. I ask You to take Your Word here at place it in the heart of each IDOK in perfect order of each need. Thank You for all that You are doing in the hearts and lives of those we love so dearly and thank You for what You will yet accomplish when our baggage is delivered to You for safe keeping and sorting. And Father as soon as Your Work in Iraq is accomplished bring our IDOK Troops home but until then protect and guide them for Jesus sake.
And ABBA we continue to pray for the Peace of Israel and the Repentance of America. And we come with each one listed here, each soul and each circumstance and we accept Your Will and Your Touch for each. Amen and amen.
