IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2008
Revelation 22: 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
21
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

It’s mid-week and again I have 5 days of homework for my A Heart Like His study to do today!! It is a GREAT study and I am grateful to be doing it; however, with this confession you know I am still a work in progress to practice what I ‘preach’ regarding priorities!
‘My’ priority yesterday was Christmas Shopping; it took most of the day but I am nearly finished! Our strategy here is THIS year to be more relax and actually enjoy the Season with REAL worship and loving fellowship with people. Wouldn’t that be a novel idea? I am sure as the season progresses, I will ‘tell on’ us so you will know how we are doing in this endeavor.
Joyce Myers is talking about priorities this week too; I’ve caught her program a couple times which is a rare thing for me. And today is Wednesday’s with Beth (James Robinson); that’s a priority. See what I mean? We all do it. Meeting with you all is a priority with me and as you all know well, sometimes I am way late getting here. Sometimes I interrupt our time together to go and stand in the driveway to watch my beloved to the end of the street and pray for traveling mercies for him to work and home again. No complaints about that priority!! Joyce said on Monday she was complaining in prayer to God about her schedule. She said it was yang yang this and blah blah that and He said to her, ‘Joyce, you make your schedule; if you don’t like it change it!’
Something else was said that I thought was profound but I didn’t make it a priority to write it down and now for the moment I can’t remember it to share with you. See what I mean? We all do it.
But I do remember a word that ABBA gave me through Beth a few weeks back. HE IS WORKING IN ME TO CONFORM ME TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON AND HE WILL NOT CEASE UNTIL HE GETS IT DONE. I can rest in that promise and instead of spending my energy fretting over my ‘rotten’ self when I fail and when I am so slow to learn, and when I mess up and when I don’t prioritize appropriately, turn my thoughts to praise that He is faithful and He and I will get there … Priorities and all!! Have a great day my Dear Ones. We are going to get there!!
Philippians 1: 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Thank You ABBA I think You will even use ramblings. I expect that You will. You truly are so AWESOME. Sometimes I think that those close to me don’t see me living like I believe it but WE are going to get there. Thank You. ABBA, a couple dear to me let me know they are traveling today and I pray for their protection, for safe arrivals to and from and not only safe arrivals but blessed fellowship with friends and strength to build not only a cabin but fellowship with You and each other. Other IDOKS maybe traveling too so I pray for safe passage for all of them today and for relationships to deepen and widen in You Christ Jesus and then to others. Another couple has just been given information that has disturbed them so greatly that they are seeking if You have another place of worship for them – Thy Will be done ABBA. And I pray they will hear You and KNOW what Your Will in this is and if there are other IDOKs experiencing this too, I pray for them to KNOW too and follow Your leading. And then there are these listed here, especially including our IDOK Troops and their safety and protection in mind, body and spirit; America, as a whole, and this path She has chosen – You are working and we only ask that You line us Christians up with You for the good and the repentance of leaders and fellow citizens; and Israel – for Her protection and peace. Again, I pray ABBA that America will not turn away from Israel. I pray too that You will enlist and empower individuals in numbers to speak boldly to stay and turn back the evil that has been unleashed in America. We trust You to comfort the grieving and relieve the suffering today for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

A Country Song – Who’d A Thought It!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2008
Revelation 22: 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Yesterday was a full day – 4th and 5th graders. I have been reviewing the day and have come to at least one conclusion. Something has changed and not for the better. I recall being a student – a ‘hundred’ years ago and often there was one maybe two in each class that was rowdy. These days even in SECOND grade there are one or two maybe three that actually seem to want to learn or at least will be obedient to class room rules. As I say to the younger ones: this makes me sad.
==========
As I was walking through the den last night and pre game rhetoric was going on, I heard: “I like it, I love it, I want some more of it”. No, it wasn’t Jerry singing it. Not this time anyway. Okay. Okay. It’s a catchy song. It must be because I heard it again in my head this morning when I woke up. I don’t like that! I don’t like waking up with something other than the Gospel playing. It’s not that there are not some good country songs out there. Some are even worthy of a moment or two of our time but is that the BEST use of our time? And isn’t that what we need to be about these days — the BEST stewardship of our time?
Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Ephesians 5: 15, 16 Amplified Bible.
And so as we think of time stewardship, we must consider our priorities. Because it is in and upon our priorities that we expend our time. Right? And what are our priorities? I think I have found an easy way to find out. We might call it the back door approach. Read this statement and see if you agree with me. It comes from The Challenge by David Edwards: “If you are discouraged, ask yourself the following question, “what am I discouraged about?” If you ask that, I think you’ll discover where your priorities are. Are you discouraged because people are saying bad things about you or because you don’t have the grades or the clothes you want? If that’s the case, then you don’t need encouragement-you need better priorities. You need faith that God is working His good purposes in your life, and you need the patience that comes from that faith.”
“I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.” Whatever it is that we like, whatever we love, don’t we want some more of it? And if we really want more of it, don’t we make a way to get it? And would not that be a good indicator to us what our priorities really are? So what are your priorities? Did I hear you say: That’s a good question and as soon as I get the time, I will ponder those things and figure out who I am … Right? If you really want to know you will. If I really want to know I will too. Oh! My Father can use it all, can’t He? Who would have imagined that a country song would lead us to pondering our priorities?
I received this update on Janie from a Sister IDOK: Sorry it has been so long since I updated you on Janie. She finished her last chemo treatment on October 4th and they released her to go home on October 28th. It took her a very long time to recover. She has just this past week started to feel strong enough to drive and go to the store. She was able to cook yesterday for the first time in months, which is something she loves to do. I think the birth of our newest grandson, Lane Michael Carter, helped jump start her. We are thankful that she is feeling stronger and as of today she was able to attend church and is now headed to spend the night with Brittany and Lane so she can practice being a grandmother. Hopefully the worst is behind us. We have been blessed with so many friends that have brought over meals, driven Janie to various places, picked up mail and just been here for us. Thanks again for all your support.
Father, thank You. Strange as it is this morning, by faith — thank You. And Father I ask that You help me and all of our readers today to know where we are, who we are and just what are our priorities. Examine us Lord and help us have the strength and the courage to look and see what You see and surrender it all to You for Jesus sake.
And we bring each of these and we know they are a priority to You. You are so awesome to make each of us a priority with You. I am reminded this morning that Linda is attending a conference this week and I pray she will find refreshment in You this week. And Janet’s a new aunt this morning. Thank You for new babies and we pray she will grow to be a godly child and woman for Your glory and we pray her parents will surrender all to You that it be so. And we are thinking of Bernie and Linda this morning particularly, You know what sweet blessing You have for them today and we thank You for those blessings. We can think of strength and courage and healing. Thank You for Steve’s hearing. Mary and Mabel – You know Lord. You know just what they need today and we pray it be so. And added to Mary and Mabel our IDOK Troops and every soul written here or spoken in the hearts of each IDOK as she and he stops this morning to pray. Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2008
Revelation 22: 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
21
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

As I sit to write I just remembered I am SUBBING at the school on Monday. Prayers appreciated. 4th and 5th grades language. Won’t that be a hoot?!
Sheila Walsh. Thanks to email and Internet I was privileged to see a passed interview with her on the 700 Club. She was talking about prayer. She said Get Off Your Knees and Pray. By the way that is the title of her new book. I think I’d like to read it. Anyway. She said each morning she gets up goes outside looks up and says Father, wherever You are going today, I am going with You. She said I may not understand and it may not be the way I would choose but still I am going with You.
I like that so much!! And it prompted me to make this confession. Lord, where are You going today? Take me with You.
And then I thought you know, Kathie, it does not matter that you know where ABBA is going, only that you go with Him. And so I continued. Wherever You are going today in this life, take me with You. I remember what Moses said, Lord, if You are not going with us, we are not going. And I love that he said that. So Father, take me with You today. You will probably need to come back and find me many times in the course of the day; not that You do not know where I will be but I will have lost sight of You because my steps will have wandered. I will not have meant to wander but I am so prone to do so. Thank You for loving me anyway.
This sounds so good on paper and I want so much for it to be so but it is not easy, is it? And the impatient soul I am I want it to be just so right now. But the Scripture says the ‘steps’ of the righteous are ordered by the Lord, doesn’t it? And then I am reminded He said He leads me in the ‘paths’ of righteousness. Hmmm. I wonder if I have to learn to follow the steps, one by one – a few at a time before I am ready for Him to show me the ‘path’? I think that may be so, don’t you? Clearly Scripture teaches that ABBA can move whomever He chooses whenever and wherever. (Proverbs 21: 1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.) There must be a difference here. I think that difference is the being moved and the ‘choosing’ to walk. The righteous must choose to take the steps He orders and when we do, as we mature and when it is appropriate and in our best interest He shows us the ‘path’. So my dear ones, if you are taking steps that He is ordering and You do not see the path of the steps, it is because it is in YOUR best interest to not know yet. So relax and enjoy the walk. See and hold in your mind and heart this picture – The God of the Universe is ordering YOUR steps. You! You are walking this life with the LIVING GOD. What could we possibly have to complain about?!!
Psalm 37: 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand.

Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

Amen and amen even when we walk through the darkest valley, we have no reason to fear because You are with us. Thank You ABBA. Thank You for Your Rob and Staff, indeed when we see the purposes and experience Your use of them on our behalf, yes Lord, Your Rod and Staff are comfort to us. Teach us to go with You daily wherever You are going in our individual lives; oh, to be obedient sheep is our prayer. I pray for Your anointing of wisdom and grace as I meet with 4th and 5th grades for language classes. And I pray for teachers, especially here in Mobile and Baldwin counties; they have such an extraordinary task each day with the minds, attitudes and various home experiences in an enclosed classroom. They need Your help to keep order and to make learning a desirable endeavor. It is not easy Lord and I don’t see how any teacher copes without You as their Internal Guide. So I pray each will call upon You and find You faithful. And added to our concern for teaches and students we pray for these. There are many needs here; our IDOK Troops, grieving families, illness and disease, family stresses, financial pressures, major and minor decisions, tensions as a result of the election last week, ministries struggling, Pastors and staffs with full schedules, and the Eastern Shore Women’s Conference – only weeks away now. You know what You want to do with each and every situation and soul and it is for Your Will we pray in it all. And I pray too for each IDOK and all their families that each will abound in good works today and their love for You and Your Word will increase today. Amen and amen.
