Come and Dine in 2009

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2008
My Dear IDOKs we are staring down on the New Year of 2009. The close of one year and the beginning of another is a time when we generally invest some moments reflecting upon what has been and dream of what we hope will be. There have been some miracle delights in 2008 as well as hurts so deep that only the LORD could give strength to endure. And He did. He has been faithful to us. And if you like me have not been as faithful to Him as you told Him on December 31, 2007 that you would be, He knows. He knew when we said it and today is the perfect day to let it go. And tonight when the old year passes and the new year begins, we can begin again. And there is a real possibility that in 2009 we will love Him more, and love people more. The is a real possibility that 2009 will be our best year yet in our Walk of Faith with Him. I think it would honor Him and please Him greatly if we begin now to believe and expect to love Him more in 2009. It is not something we have to work at, there’s no way WE can make it happen, nor do we have to beg Him to do it for us. We are only required to make our minds, hearts and souls available to Him and He will do the rest. Freedictionary.com defines available as Present and ready for use; . . . Willing to be of service. That’s really good I think. Present, to me means moment by moment I am aware of Him. There’s no ‘feeling’ that He is far away. Ready to use, to me means I am prayed up, confessed up and when the Holy Spirit prompts me I can respond appropriately; I don’t have anything standing between He and I. Willing to be of service, that needs no commentating, does it?
Lets say the coming year of 2009 is our year to abide and dine.
And just as a side note – maybe if we DINE with Jesus this year we will loose a pound or two of ‘flesh’. No doubt we will. And wouldn’t that bring on some rejoicing?!
John 21:
12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? Knowing that it was the Lord.
Revelation 3:
19Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me.
21 He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.

Adding to our list today from Beverly: Please add Kay E. To our prayer list. She was in an accident yesterday. She has a broken ankle, a knee injury (having to wait on the swelling to go down & they’ll know more about it), & her spleen is bleeding. She is in ICU so they can monitor her spleen. Due to having a staph infection w/a previous surgery they do not want to remove the spleen.
And from Rachel: Please be in prayer for my nephew Phillip. My heart is burdened and his father — my brother, is devastated with his choices and the consequences of them. Ask that the Lord continue to work on Phillip’s hardened heart. My beloved sister in law named her sons after three great men in the Bible and dedicated them to the Lord; David, Paul and Phillip. Phillip has strayed far from his teachings and what he knows as the Truth. We trust the Lord will bring peace to everyone who hears the news of his poor choices and lift him up to the Lord for spiritual renewal.

If the issues or circumstances that placed the name on the list have been resolved, please let me know. We don’t want to remove any name prematurely but we do want to keep the list fresh. Thanks.
ABBA, thank You for prayers already prayed this morning. Thank You that You have heard. Thank You that You always hear Your children. And I pray now for our IDOKs that today we will prepare ourselves to come and dine with You in 2009. There will be folks out celebrating tonight in ways that are not good and so I am praying now for protection of all our IDOKs. Thank You for safe passage from one year to another.
I pray for Kay E, that bleeding spleen sounds serious to me. We expect bones to knit but when an organ is bleeding that scares us LORD. So I pray that You will heal her spleen, knit her bones together again and I pray she will love You with all her heart. And Phillip. Bad choices. Stupid, bad choices. That must hurt You so much when You see us doing such things. And the pain it brings to us must be nothing in comparison to the pain it causes You for us. So I pray for Phillip for grace and space to repent. I pray the consequences of his sins will literally drive him to Your Throne. That he will repent and be delivered from this path he has chosen. I pray he will stop and choose Your Way. I pray for Rachel and her brother and all the family that they will find comfort in You as they watch this process and I pray they will stand in faith on his behalf and that they will discern carefully what You are saying to them, when to speak and when to be silent; when to help, when to say yes and when to say no and I pray they will be faithful in this discerning and doing. And Phillip is not the only one on our list that has made evil choices and we pray for them too. I have one young man in particular in mind and I pray for him again that You will have mercy and that he will repent and believe. And there are other situations listed here, cancer. You know even better than we what a horrible enemy to the body it is . What a picture of sin it is. And it is no respecter of persons. Cancer has invaded those we know love You and obey You. It invades those that do not give You the time of day. We don’t understand this but we trust You. And we pray for wholeness for them all.
And our IDOK Troops, we would not forget them this morning, any morning. They are precious to us and we are grateful to give them the gift of prayer and we do. And we pray for their protection. We want them to be safe and well and whole in mind and body and spirit there in hostile places and those who are here at home too, we still pray for them and their families – Your Will be done LORD.
You have answered all our prayers this year. Some answers delighted us beyond words and some answers we are still waiting to see manifested and some we accepted because in Your AWESOME love for us You said NO. Thank You ABBA. Thank You. Now as we close this out for today, thank You for each and every IDOK, for each and every soul who will join me in this prayer, whatever they need LORD, whatever is concerning them, whomever they love and want to see healed and saved I pray for them to experience You today and that will be more than enough. Amen and amen.

A Gift

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2008
I was e-mailing with a sister IDOK today who related to me something about which she was praising the Lord. Last week she and I had discussed a situation she was facing which at that time consisted of some unknown facts and therefore the outcome was uncertain, but there seemed to be a potential for some harm. And so she and I agreed to seek the Lord together about it. Today, she gave me the good news that the outcome was much better than it could have been and she thanked me for my prayers. And this was my reply: I am SO glad I got to pray about it. It makes me feel like part of the answer and that is SO Good. It’s like giving a gift to you and I LOVE that. Isn’t that neat, praying for someone is giving them a Gift. Wonder if I can turn that into an IDOK for Tuesday?
I don’t know that I can locate specific Scripture that would in so many words say our praying for one another is a gift we give to one another but I really think the Spirit of Scripture would not be violated if we accept this as truth. Zechariah 8:21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to them of another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray and entreat the favor of the Lord and to seek, inquire of, and require [to meet our own most essential need] the Lord of hosts. I will go also.
22 Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to Jerusalem to seek, inquire of, and require [to fill their own urgent need] the Lord of hosts and to pray to the Lord for His favor.
James 5:16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
And if you are like me it feels good to think of praying as a gift that we give to those we love. It feels so good to think that the prayers we have prayed have made us a part of what Father God has done for a sister or brother in the Faith. However, you may have thought as I have that it does not feel as well when we are praying for someone that we’d like to give them anything but a gift, unless we could consider a good swift kick to the seat of the pants as a gift. And so I have come to the conclusion that in such cases when we are praying for our ‘enemy’ we are doing just as Father has commanded that we do (Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, ) and in so doing I think we can call that praying a sacrifice and an act of obedience. Further I think we can safely say that kind of praying is a triple gift. One, an act of obedience which is not so much a gift to our Father as it is what we ‘owe’ Him, but I have a feeling it pleases Him so much that it feels like a gift to Him. And I can tell you for sure I LOVE that idea! Two, it’s a gift we give ourselves because praying for an enemy or one that we would rather not pray for places us in line for Father to bless us even more and who of us does not want that? And third, just like praying for someone we love, praying for someone God is enabling us to love, likewise lets us share in the good work that Father does in their lives. Either way it’s a win all the way around, don’t you think? How’s that for an incentive to pray?
I Corinthians 3:9 For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God’s building.
Father, thank You that You have already been hearing my prayers this morning for our IDOKs. Thank You that their needs are met already in You today. I pray for our willingness to receive today. I pray as this devotion comes to the screens of each of them today that You will reveal to each of them the message You have for them. I pray Your Word will be opened and received in each of our hearts. I pray we will be encouraged and strengthened today. I pray that we will come to love You with all our hearts, souls and minds. I pray for the upcoming women’s conference that You will see to it that it is attended by every woman who is hungry for a Word from You and who desires the comfort and fellowship of other sisters of Christian faith. LORD, You know what You want to give to the women in this area, You know what their needs are and I pray Thy Will Be Done. And You know each heart, soul and mind listed here. You know these people like no one else. You know what Your plans are for them; You know how to get them to the place of blessing and receiving that You want and I pray today they will be so moved. I pray for those that are suffering with pain and illness and disease that You will be exalted and glorified and they will be healed. And our IDOK Troops they are always our concern and we know You have been so gracious and full of mercy toward them. Thank You. And we pray today for their protection in mind, body and spirit. You have heard my prayers already this morning for Israel and I lift that again now. You have heard my prayers for America, for leaders and people to repent and I lift that again too. You know all our hearts and we pray for each other that IDOKs will be people of holy conduct for Jesus sake. Amen and amen. Unspoken Requests – situations so close you can only speak to Father about. Blurt It Out There!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2008

Oh, my goodness! I have had the best time this Sunday evening.
Satsuma First Celebration Choir lead us in worship with ‘All Bow Down’ tonight.
I was so blessed in the Sweet Presence of Jesus that I didn’t want to leave the sanctuary.
Jesus is so totally AWESOME to come here from Heaven to save us from ourselves and to prepare for us a place with Him forever and ever.
He came to us so we could go to Him! AWESOME. Just AWESOME!

John 14: 1 DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.
2 In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you.
3 And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.
4 And [to the place] where I am going, you know the way.
5 Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?
6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.

Don’t you just love Thomas?
He’s so blunt.
But you know what I think? I think our God works well with those who just blurt it out there to Him.
No pretense, just say it like we’re thinking.
Is there Something that you just don’t get? Something that you really need help with to get yourself around it?
Blurt it out there TO HIM. He came all this way for YOU. He will surely show you the way.

LORD GOD, You are so AWESOME. Lord Jesus thank You, thank You for coming to us so we can go to You. Go to You not only to Heaven at the appointed for us time but go to You for everything in between here and then. Thank You so much for tonight’s pleasure and privilege of worship. I loved it! And I love You, more and more and that is my prayer: to be head over heels in love with You. I could ask for nothing more because I am certain that being head over heels in love with You will stretch and fill and grow me into Your image. So that is my prayer for our IDOKs that all of us will be so in love with You that we begin to think like You, talk like You, act like You, and love like You. Thank You for answering this prayer for it is surely Your Will.
And, Father,  as we think about our IDOK Troops we know You are too, even more; that You love them perfectly and we trust You with them for protection of mind, body, and spirit. We trust You, Holy Spirit, to reveal the Sweet Presence of Jesus to them. And for Israel, our prayer remains for Her peace and protection. Our prayer for America remains a cry and plea for space and grace to repent. Our desire for the remainder of our list is to be strengthened in every way and to be at peace. Amen and amen.
