Parallels

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MAY 18, 2009

Sunday evening service at First Baptist of Satsuma was a little different than what I am accustomed but now as I sit to write I can say I really liked what I saw and heard. Paul Daily of Wild Horse Ministries trained an unbroken horse before our eyes in just two hours. And as he trained the horse he drew parallels between him and the horse and us and God. I am impressed! So impressed that if you get the chance to attend one of his presentations, I strongly urge you to go and invite others to go with you. The last act he convinced the horse to perform was to lie down. It is my understanding that horses do not readily do this. But this one did. In a matter of two hours Paul Daily had so gained the trust of that horse that the horse chose to lay down when Daily asked him to. Amazing!

Over and over he reminded us that he was not and would not hurt the horse nor would he MAKE the horse do anything; he only wanted to love and care for the horse. That is what God wants too. He just wants to love on us, care for us and train us to be safe in this cruel world of sin in which we live. With every wise decision the horse made to obey Paul, he rewarded the horse with kind words and loving caresses. You can easily see the parallel there, can’t you? Paul did not get mad at the horse when the horse chose to disobey, he just continue to work with him, kept on loving and caring for the horse until the horse changed his mind. Do you see that parallel too? Over and over the horse made right choices and then the final one – when he lay down. And at that point I believe the Holy Spirit gave me something precious. I hope I can convey it to you. Again and again Paul demonstrated love to the horse; even the trials and tribulations (as he called it) that he put the horse through were to train the horse to make the right decision and not designed to harm the horse (and didn’t harm him). So when the horse lay down and knowing it was such a tremendous act of trust and obedience, I felt an excitement in my spirit that I most likely cannot fully express to you. I wanted to reward that horse; I wanted somehow to communicate to that horse how great he was; how proud I was of him; I wanted to lavish love somehow, some way so the horse could understand how proud and delighted I was with his act of obedience. And then it hit me that is God with me. That is what He longs to do for me. He longs for me to finally get it, to finally lay it all down and trust Him and when I do He is delighted beyond my wildest dream to lavish love upon me. Is that good or what?!!

Isaiah 30:

18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!

19 O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.

Thank You for the ministry You have given Paul Daily and his family. Thank You for what You have said to me and I pray this Parallel devotion will be one You can use to help others. Thank You for the privileges You have given me this very day. Thank You for the sweet excitement, for that precious moment You gave me. Don’t let me forget; grow it in me so You can bless others time and time again through me. I’d be honored for You to do that ABBA. Bless our IDOKs, even give them a hug from me if You will. And just now I am reminded of Kathy and her family; comfort her; it has not been that long since her Mother passed from here to there with You and I pray Kathy is adjusting and finding You so very faithful to her. You know what each on our list is in need of today and I pray they will receive each blessing You want to give them today. I pray for our IDOK Troops that they will know they are safe with You even in hostile lands and situations. And at the appointed time will come home to family and friends, safe and sound. I am continuing to ask You to cleanse Washington and all 50 States and to revive Your Church; and bless Israel with the Peace You long to give them. As we close this IDOK edition, I pray for peaceful and restful sleep for us all and for holy energy when we wake. Amen and amen.

ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. Amen and amen.

Refuge

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2009

It has been a long day, but one I have enjoyed. I considered going to bed at 8:30 and getting up really early to write our Devotion for today but before going to bed I decided to read Proverbs 14. And when I did 10 words lay comfortingly and gently on my soul. Let me briefly share them with you.

Proverbs 14:26 In the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children shall always have a place of refuge.

And His children shall always have a place of refuge. Oh that feels good. Let those words and the significance of them wrap you in comfort and peace. As His daughter or son, You always have a place of refuge, not sometimes, not ever once in a while but always. My on line dictionary defines refuge this way:

1. Protection or shelter, as from danger or hardship.

2. A place providing protection or shelter.

3. A source of help, relief, or comfort in times of trouble.

And my Hebrew Lexicon gave me this:

The Hebrew word for refuge is hoxm and its transliterated word is machaceh and as we would expect it means refuge, shelter from rain or storm or danger. And then look at this: from falsehood.

In Him as His sons and daughters, we are never left alone with wolves to rip and tear us to pieces; we are never left in a storm without a port; we are never left in a pit of darkness without a light to find the ladder up; and we are never left to be swallowed up in falsehood. I believe this is a promise from our Father that we can live in this dark world and still not be taken in by falsehoods; we can live in this place that is corrupted with seducing spirits and doctrines of demons and still not be deceived. We have a refuge from all that, IF we will moment by moment walk with Him, if we will reverence Him in our daily goings and comings, if we will worship Him alone, then we have His Word that we will not be deceived or destroyed.

Please, please remember this: if we just one time call something good which ABBA has called evil, in that moment we have taken our first step toward being deceived and we are on our way to forfeiting our promise of refuge. That does not mean He will not come after us because He will but until we turn around and reverence and worship Him alone again, we are not guaranteed a port in the storm or that a wolf will not take off an arm and a leg.

Thank You ABBA. You are so good to me. Thank You for being a forever refuge to and for us. I am so grateful for the promise that You will protect me from falsehood; that You are my refuge and protection against being taken in by seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. Holy Spirit, I ask You to keep me close so I will always be protected in this way. I pray this too for all our IDOKs and for these listed here and we pray for other blessings too as needed for these; healing and restoration, debt relief, food, clothing and shelter, reconciliations, the mending of broken hearts, protection and safety for our IDOK Troops, and peace and safety for Israel. Father, it’s been a long day, why do we say that? This day has had the same number of hours as any other day but I’m tired and no doubt I am not the only one. So I pray for our IDOKs as they are turning in for the night that they will lay down and sleep peacefully and awaken in the morning with You being first on their minds and that their first words will be to greet you and praise You for Who You are and who You are growing us to be. Holy Spirit I pray you will take this devotion and comfort and encourage and excite each reader to love and worship You Lord more and more. Thank You for today, thank You for this ministry and this privilege. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN. Unspoken Requests – situations so close you can only speak to Father about. Joshua A. On The Streets of Nazareth

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, MAY 14, 2009

This is so beautiful to me. I would like to have words to express the warmth and just all over good feeling I get when I read this verse.

Luke 4:22 And all spoke well of Him and marveled at the words of grace that came forth from His mouth; and they said, Is not this Joseph’s Son? source

All spoke well of Him. Put on your sanctified imagination and see this with me. This scene takes place after His baptism, after the wilderness experience and while He was in the synagogue in Nazareth, look back at the verse, they marveled at the words of grace that came forth from His mouth. Can you see that He talked differently from any other man on earth? Can you see that when He spoke their minds just raced for words to explain Him . . . it was like God was speaking! And so it was. And so it is!

They could not believe the manner in which He spoke. They were astounded especially since He was Joseph’s son, wasn’t He? Can you see the puzzled, dumbfounded looks on their faces? And that’s where they messed up! They refused to believe that Isaiah 61 had been fulfilled in their very presence. They refused to see Him any way other than Joseph’s son. He was only a man to them; not the God-Man. And He called them on it. In fact, He got real tight with them. He told it to them like it was and what did they do? Verse 28

28 When they heard these things, all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage.

Do you see that in moments they went from being marveled to being enraged at Him? Why would they do that? I think folks do the same today. I think people who refuse to see Jesus Christ as who He is the one and only GOD-MAN, become enraged at Him.

They want him to be only a man; they don’t want to confess Him as God because to confess Him as God means they must confess themselves to be sinners.

Lets see just how enraged these folks got. Verse 29 tells us. 29 And rising up, they pushed and drove Him out of the town, and [laying hold of Him] they led Him to the [projecting] upper part of the hill on which their town was built, that they might hurl Him headlong down [over the cliff].

Can you see the scene? Can you see their faces? Can you hear their blood-thirsty shouts? Can you see them pushing, shoving, beating, biting, and kicking at Him through the streets of Nazareth? The very streets on which He had played as a child. Wonder how that felt for Him? Ponder the scene and know this: He still loved them! And He still loves the people today who hate Him so much they want to silence even the very mention of His Name.

Verse 30. But passing through their midst, He went on His way.

They were unable to contain Him. He slipped right through their hands and went on His way. (And a side note: do you see how easily He was NOT taken by them? Does that tell you how willingly He went to the Cross for us? He could have slipped through their hands then too. But He didn’t — because He loves us. Oh! How awesome He is!)

Is there anything sadder or more tragic than for Jesus to go on His way and the soul He invited to go with Him, refuse to go? I don’t think so. And what about us; what about you and me; when Jesus wants to lead us in a particular way, will we go or will we refuse? Paint that scene on the walls of your mind. I will too.

. . .  some updating since first published.

ABBA, and our IDOK Troops they are daily on our minds, wanting them to be safe and sound in spirit, soul and body and to come home safe and whole at the appointed time. And for the peace of Israel, that is our continued prayer and the cleansing of Washington and all 50 States and the revival of Your Saints, we pray again and again for these things. We pray too for each one listed here, for their needs to be met and for every one of us to love You more, for us to be faithful to You, for us to be different from the people in the synagogue that day. And we know we are because we have believed and know You are the Christ, the Son of God, but my concern is that we often do not walk Your way; that we often deny You Your rightful place in our hearts, our homes, our streets, businesses, schools, in all the places we go and come; forgive us. Holy Spirit create clean hearts in us so that Your purity of heart will be seen in our lives today.
