IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JULY 9, 2009

I heard Joyce Meyer say, “some folks want enough of Jesus to get them out of hell but they don’t want enough of Him to live in victory.” You know what I say? Some folks want enough of Jesus to get them out of hell but they don’t want enough of Him to get the hell out of them.

Coiling and Curling

Did you know when you are coiling up the cord to your iron or hair dryer if you will start as close to the base of the appliance as you can get with your first coil (especially if the appliance cord is made longer with an extension cord) and then work to the plug, the cord will be less kinked when you unwind it the next time? And that got me to thinking ‘spiritually’ while I was coiling today. Our messes (all kinds of messes, family or friend relationships, money, possessions, dreams, hopes – all kinds of stuff) can best be un-kinked if we begin closest to the base (that is our own hearts before God) and start curling up right close, right there on His Lap and as we do we will notice those near and those long distance kinks will eventually loosen up. But if I insist on starting the coil at the plug, that cord gets more and more twisted; so kinked and twisted it has in time passed become just a tad frustrating. And spiritually speaking, if I start trying to un-kink others before I allow Jesus to un-kink me, well things tend to get just a tad frustrating. Just an observation, for what it’s worth.

Luke 6:

46Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you?

47 For everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words [in order to heed their teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like:

48 He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock.

49 But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great.

Kathie, Please send out a special prayer request for my brother, Donald. He had a stage 3 melanoma cancer removed Monday. He should get the test results back tomorrow (Thursday). If the thickness of the cancer exceeds 1 millimeter at any point, he will need further procedures. The doctor did not elaborate on what those would be. Thank you, La Juanna

ABBA, I don’t know what You can or will do with this coiling observation but this I do know it is so much better if I curl up with You and know Your heart before I give a ‘piece of my mind’ to anyone else. Curling up on Your Lap with my head on Your Chest hearing Your Heart is the safest and most wonderful place on earth to be. Teach me, train me to be so positioned more and more often. And I pray that too for our IDOKs.

And we pray for Donald and Doug; both men are much loved by family and friends, so many hearts want them to be made well and we are trusting Your heart for them, Lord. And we are privileged to bring these others listed here for healing and help too. Thank You for allowing us to pray for these; thank You for allowing us to be a part of the work You are doing in them and through them for Your own glory and for their good and well being. Thank You for Your eternal plans and purposes for these and for those who loved them enough to request that we pray. We commit all this to You, our IDOK Troops, the Peace of Israel, the cleansing of America, the economy, the unrest in leaders and lands, and the Spreading of Your Gospel into all the world and however You can work through us in any of this we want to serve, Lord. ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. And Lord some weeks later since this prayer began we have word from one of those Alabama officials that he wants our prayers, that he is mindful of You, that he does love You and obviously he is well acquainted with Your Word. And ABBA I am so delighted and grateful for this man and for others like him, so for each of them (and You know who they are, Lord) we pray that You will anoint and empower them to stand firm and holy in these places of service You have given them and Lord please bring others alongside to stand with them and help them. And as he suggested move us to be involved in the political process with more than just our prayers according to the individual will You have for each of us. IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2009

A silly exercise:

What does this statement say to you? It’s no fun to find a great hiding place, only to discover that no one is looking for you.

And this silly exercise prompted me to find this:

Psalm 139: 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning,

And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,

And Your right hand shall hold me.

Others may not come looking for you … but HE will! All the more, He KNOWS all our hiding places, we are never lost from HIM.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!

How great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;

When I awake, I am still with You.

Amen and Amen. Whatever the hiding place, whatever seems to have crumbled in and on around you, HE is still with You.

And from a Passage the Holy Spirit spoke to me many years ago: Isaiah 61. (I remember the morning well. It was before the dawn as we sat together in a one bedroom apartment and by His Spirit, He told me to turn to Isaiah 61 and I said to Him, ‘LORD, I don’t even know if there is an Isaiah 61’. Duh! He wrote, He Knows, There is!!

3 To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

May HE be glorified in us today!

Doug’s melanoma is back again; radical surgery is scheduled for July 20.

In all our rubbles of any kind, relational or medical or of any sort we can name, You are with us ABBA, and I see You not only on the outside of it calling us out but on the inside of it leading the way out; holding us up, shouldering us and even carrying us when we just have not strength left to walk. That is You, ABBA. Thank You so much for these images, play them on our minds just when we need them I pray. You are so AWESOME! You give me happy tears. Thank You. I love You DADDY GOD. Please help me act like it before family, friends and strangers. And I join with our IDOKs to pray for Doug and I don’t know what to pray, these months have been filled with surgeries and procedures and pain and more than I can even imagine and now more cancer but we have this picture and You are in this with Doug and Claudia and You are faithful. And not just with Doug but all the others named here. You are with us. We pray to give You glory. We pray for our IDOK Troops for their safety and safe returns home, especially for Chad today, that his homecoming will be filled with peace and packed with celebration. And in all the brokenness represented in these names listed here and in the hearts of any IDOK we pray for Your Beauty to arise from the ashes and peace to come for despair and the oil of gladness to be poured out lavishly upon all. IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2009

I am a little behind with my Me, Myself & Lies study; need to catch up before Beth does her posting to the Blog today.

Yesterday we were studying about ‘assumptions’; something we all do and something that leads to ‘faulty thinking’ as Jennifer phrases it. Folks in Scripture did it too. Take Martha for instance. Lets look in on her as she speaks to Jesus. John 11: 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. Do you think we are assuming, if we think she made this statement based on an assumption? Do you think Martha’s assumption was that if Jesus had ‘cared’ He would have come BEFORE her brother died and would have kept him from dying? Do we think that way about Him sometimes too? And we are wrong, aren’t we?

3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”

4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” This was Mary that anointed Jesus’ feet; this was Mary who sat at His feet worshipping and hanging on His every word. It’s the same Martha who wanted the meal to be just right for Him. Jesus, the God-Man, interacted one on one, face to face with these three, they were close friends. How human of Martha to assume He did them wrong by not showing up when they called Him. I agree with Jennifer that was ‘faulty thinking’. Surely Martha, like we, did not go to the bottom of this faulty thinking before she latched on to it. To think such about Him would be to say within the walls of our mind, ‘You’ve been in my home, You have sat at my table, You have had intimate conversations with me and now You treat me this way, what kind of man are you’? Can you see it? Lets read more. ⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

⁶ So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

⁷ Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.”

⁸ The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?”

And it says Jesus LOVED Martha, Mary and Lazarus and yet He deliberately did not go/come when they wanted Him to. I have experienced His deliberate delays. I think maybe you have too, and like me, you have seen AFTER the delay that it was perfect timing, haven’t we? We will again.

One more thing before we go to prayer. Did you notice the peril Jesus was going into when He went to Bethany? The last time He was in the area, the people tried to stone Him. He came to us from Heaven at great peril and price to Himself. How human we are when we assume His deliberate delays are unkind.

Lets us look up, our redemption draweth neigh.

Dear Friends, Donald’s surgery is finished and he will be able to go home sometime later today. He made it through the surgery without any problems. The cancer will be sent to a lab and if it is more than one millimeter deep at any spot on it, he will need further procedures. The doctor did not elaborate on this point. They did not remove any lymph nodes…yet. PLEASE continue to remember him through this process. Thank you, La Juanna

Doug is seeing doctors today, Thursday and Friday; his conditions remains about the same so far; prayers needed for he and Claudia as she stands to give care.

An update for KC. He had 4 more stents placed a week ago in his 100% blocked artery (a risk the surgeon took) but now he has recovered 100% and no blockages. Praise the Lord! and more good news; his son Chad B is returning from Afghanistan on Wed, July 8th, flying into Andrews Airforce Base. He is going to be home for good! I want to thank everyone for all the prayers. Please keep Katelyn B (my daughter) on the list as we continue to fight for a cure with Rett Syndrome. LORD GOD and Father, thank You for always coming to our rescue at just the right time and thank You for Your love and grace and mercy that forgives us when our thinking is faulty as we wait for You to arrive. Thank You LORD Jesus for the unfathomable peril and price You paid to be our Savior, Lord and Rescuer. And as we consider and take in what You have done, we know it is safe and right for us to entrust these listed here for their rescues and deliverances. Thank You for the good we have seen You do on behalf of KC and thank You for the good You are doing for others that we have not seen yet. Thank You for Chad’s homecoming and we speak safety over it. We speak life and safety and protection over all our IDOK Troops. IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, JULY 6, 2009

Good Monday Morning Dear IDOKs.We hope you have had a weekend of holy fun.

Psalm 118:23-25 (King James Version)

23 This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

And this morning we begin again.

This is the LORD’s doing; the sunrise, a new day stretched out before us, let it be marvelous in our eyes.Let us see the marvelous displays of His love for us today.And yes let us REJOICE and be glad today. Be glad that HE our God and Creator and King and Father has gone before us, has come behind us and is with us and has made this day that we may PROSPER. It is HIS good pleasure to prosper us today, it is our part to rejoice and let Him be Marvelous in our eyes.

Yes, ABBA save us, we beseech You now to save us from grumbling and complaining about this day but inspire us to rejoice and in our rejoicing we know You will send prosperity. And above silver and gold we ask You to send spiritual prosperity. As we interact with family and friends today we pray we will seek spiritual prosperity for them and for ourselves.We pray for tender hearts, tender to Your voice today, tender and open before You to confess sins and wrongdoings and turn from them quickly.We pray for hearts tender and open, ready to hear and obey Your instructions today.We pray for ready hands and feet to go about doing good today for our families and friends and neighbors, near and far. We pray for these listed here, some are not prospering in health as we had hoped and yet we are reminded that our hope is in You on their behalf and You do not fail.We pray for rest and peace for weary caregivers and even a respite for them, Lord. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. And Lord some weeks later since this prayer began we have word from one of those Alabama officials that he wants our prayers, that he is mindful of You, that he does love You and obviously he is well acquainted with Your Word. And ABBA I am so delighted and grateful for this man and for others like him, so for each of them (and You know who they are, Lord) we pray that You will anoint and empower them to stand firm and holy in these places of service You have given them and Lord please bring others alongside to stand with them and help them. And as he suggested move us to be involved in the political process with more than just our prayers according to the individual will You have for each of us. Again, Lord, thank You for this news, thank You for what You are doing. Amen and amen.
