Living Simply

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2010

Praise Reports, Prayer Requests and Updates:

I’m still feeling quiet.  Still adjusting to a world without Helen.  I appreciate your prayers for Dan and the family and for me too.  Thank you.

It was said to me some days ago that ‘the simple life (that is to live simply) is hard work — it’s all about choices.’

It’s about making choices to gather what you need not necessarily what you want.  And you are doubly blessed when what you need satisfies your wants. That’s pretty profound, isn’t it?  Living simply is surrounding ourselves with quality not so much quantity.   It’s deciding what is important and making ourselves apply to that rather than running after ever bobble that is dangled in front of us  (or our children) by this materialistic world whose values are so far from the pursuit of God, family and others.  Yes, living simply is hard work — harder work than many of us are willing to sacrifice to achieve.

Matthew 6:32“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  33“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  34“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

ABBA, You heal all our wounds.   In Your KIND WISDOM You know what is best.  I am comforted only when I believe You.  I am made wise only when I believe You.  I am made strong enough for the challenge only when I believe You.  When I believe that You love me.  When I believe that every Word You have spoken is true and faithful even as You are true and faithful.  I pray that a certain young woman will come to KNOW You in Your Truth and Faithfulness.  I am praying that a certain young woman will come to the day and for the rest of her earthly journey,  to embrace  living simply with You as her first and foremost focus to worship and obey You.  And as I pray that for her I pray it for me and for all our IDOKs and Readers who say Amen.

I pray for our IDOK Troops, asking You to keep them safe and protected today, all weekend, until we meet here again.  I pray for the peace and safety of Israel.  I pray for the oil spewing in the Gulf to be capped and cleaned.  I pray for Washington to be capped and cleaned.

And we pray for our list; for each dear name, each dear face and the many needs, knowing You will supply as we accept Your love and Your ways for us.  Thank You, ABBA, in JESUS BLESSED and HOLY Name.  Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 17, 2010

Praise Reports, Prayer Requests and Updates:

I read via email late Wednesday that another saint went home yesterday.  Pray for the Greg Holden Family.  Greg was a Cub Scout Leader in the Kennesaw, Georgia area who won his battle with cancer yesterday by going HOME.   And I ask you to continue to pray for the Dan Smith Family as they say their temporary goodbyes to Helen this weekend and Monday.

Psalm 116: (New King James Version)
15
Precious in the sight of the LORD
Is
the death of His saints.
16
O LORD, truly I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.

And our bonds to this earth are tight and many and yet when DADDY GOD says come HOME, in a moment those bonds are loosed and we are there.  And for those who remain only HE can comfort and heal the wounds the severing causes.   God and Time heals.  Newsong sings a song God and Time and perhaps at the right time the message of this song will find its way to our grieving families.

ABBA, You know the pain better than anyone, even better than ourselves and I am asking You to comfort both of these families from whom You have lifted a loved one.  We do not understand and we so wanted them well here but thank You they are well there with You.

We pray for continue safety and protection for our IDOK Troops and blessings and helps and healing for our list of family and friends.  I pray for the peace of Israel.  I pray You would put a cap on that oil well spewing in the Gulf and that a remedy for cleaning will be implemented and the damage will be contained.  I know You well enough to know that You have a plan and for those who trust You will bless even in this mess.  Thank You, ABBA, in the Name of JESUS our Savior and LORD.  Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, June 16, 2010

Praise Reports, Prayer Requests and Updates:

Please let me just let me say Blessed Be the Name of the LORD Most High;  and ask you to pray.  I am finding it hard to ‘minister’ this morning.  Helen passed from this life to Heaven just a few hours ago.  She leaves a husband who loves her dearly and four children (the youngest is 14) who were not ready to be parted from their Mother.   Helen went in for a routine surgery, we are all totally shocked.  I talked to her on Saturday and none of us expected this.

ABBA, I am stunned.  I trust You and I love You.  We need You and I am asking for comfort, for wisdom, for direction and vision for us all.  Please protect our IDOK Troops and all on our prayer list.  Amen and amen in JESUS Holy and Perfect Name.
