Filling in the Blank

In close circles it is well-known that my hubby is an Auburn fan. So when a special presentation was announced to be aired on television tonight he DVR-ed it to watch when we got home from prayer meeting. And as I was tidying the kitchen I overheard a statement that struck a chord for me.

Gene Chizik.
Like him or not, what he said will ‘preach’ for football, for life.

“If you tell me you want to be a doctor but you are out drinking every night you don’t want to be a doctor you want to be a drunk.”

He followed with counsel that they needed to work on good habits to be a good football player.

So any body got a dream? Got a dream to be a good teacher? A published writer? An accomplished pianist? A medal winning gymnastic?  A dream to be a _____________?  Yes? Let us then be about filling in that blank with good habits that will develop the skills to achieve that dream.

Got a dream to be a mature, loving, kind, productive Christian?
Same principle.
Let us fill our minds and our days with good habits – the kind of habits we read that JESUS did.

Acts 10:38 Amplified Bible (AMP)
38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.

John 20:21 Amplified Bible (AMP)
21 Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! [Just] as the Father has sent Me forth, so I am sending you.

Thursday is World Evangelism prayer day for me. Not sure yet the place for the month of October — research tomorrow.  You will recall, September was Easter Island – Rapa Nui.  Still have a strange fondness for the place.  Must be a GOD thing. :)

Strength

Some times the KING JAMES just says it best; like Psalm 91:2. This is my verse of meditation for the week. Perhaps you will find strength in it too.

Psalm 91:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

This is Wednesday.  I will be praying specifically for each of you for whom I have a name or email address. Wednesdays are special. Please click HERE and pray as well.
