Slip and Slide

This is my second day on this text.

Psalm 73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, My steps had almost slipped. source

And I asked: as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, my step had almost slipped — why? Why had I come close to stumbling? Why had I almost slipped?

Verse 3 For I was envious of the arrogant as I saw the prosperity of the wicked. source

Every time!
Envious!
Never good!
How does it happen?
Taking our focus from GOD and His goodness TO US onto people, especially people who seem to be doing all kinds of wickedness, will pollute our hearts and our feet will start slipping and sliding. Every time!

One of Those People

I would say particularly today but it’s all days that family and friends and their well-being is my concern. It is today this verse of Scripture is before me and I am endeavoring to put it before you.

 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV)
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. . . ..”  source

Do we see it? Do we see The LORD Himself is looking; He is seeking people to bless. He is seeking people He can show up strong on their behalf. Strong! Mighty! Looking!

Do you want to be one of those people

Read on and you will discover you can be, if you aren’t already.

If you go to the source and read, you will find I did not include all the verse.
I have my reasons.
Not all people are those people.  Read the Chapter and decide why; if you haven’t already.

Today

11 God is a righteous judge,
And a God who is indignant every day.

And we often think He pays no mind; that He overlooks the rampant, unending evil done one against another every day.

12 If a man does not repent, God will sharpen His sword;
He has strung and bent His [mighty] bow and made it ready.
13 He has also prepared [other] deadly weapons for Himself;
He makes His arrows fiery shafts [aimed at the unrepentant].

This is not the GOD we like to present these days. We present a GOD that is grandfatherly; one that closes His eyes and says oh that’s okay, no repentance is necessary, everyone is welcome.
Everyone is welcome, welcome to repent and live.

14 Behold, the [wicked and irreverent] man is pregnant with sin,
And he conceives mischief and gives birth to lies.

Commentary will be limited here – look around. See.

15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has fallen into the [very] pit which he made [as a trap].
16 His mischief will return on his own head,
And his violence will come down on the top of his head [like loose dirt].

This is inevitable for those who do not repent. It’s not what GOD wants but unbending, unrepentant, obstinate mankind leaves Him no choice but to allow sin to complete its work.

17 I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness and justice,
And I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.   source

But the saved. We have every reason to give thanks and rejoice, even while we pray for others. We rejoice not at their destination or destiny but we are certainly grateful for our own in JESUS THE CHRIST.
