Prayer. Thinking about it. And going to it.
Can we agree MUCH is hurtful, unfair, and just flat-out wrong in people; even the people we love?
I want to see transformations. I want to see forgiveness given and received. I want to see families healed and made whole. I want to see marriages lived in holiness – it’s the only way to be happy in them. I want babies (inside and outside the womb) and adults to be loved and valued for who they are – created in the image of GOD. I want people to speak the truth even when it hurts. I want people to hear what was spoken not what they feel was spoken. I want people to know there are absolutes and those absolutes are for our security and well-being. I want people to know no man, woman or child is an island. EVERYTHING we do affects/effects someone else and rarely is it only ONE somebody else; eventually it’s all of us. Have you heard of the Butterfly Affect?
So, I am praying: Abba, I want to help. So I am asking You to make the changes in me that You can use to help others so we can all be transformed to people who live to please You and not ourselves.
I dare say we all have people in our lives who we want THEM to change! It has been my experience and I am confident the Bible bears it out: the change we want in others begins with a change in US!
Today. This verse!
Colossians 2: (AMP) 6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], source
Today, Abba, I pray for the grace to live in such a way as to lead someone away from sin. Thank You for endearing this verse to our hearts. Today, bring someone across our path that we can help navigate away from besetting sin. We pray to be on guard for ourselves as well as each other in JESUS name.
A simple but powerful prayer, if we mean it, from Journey Magazine:
“Thank You, LORD, for reminding me that in this flawed world you still find pleasure in your people. Help me to be determined to keep that goal before me and to choose pleasing You at every opportunity.”
In light of all that I read this day, this prayer is needed! It is so very easy to find the abounding evil in our beloved Nation. BUT GOD is at work and we are invited to join Him.
It’s not wrong for us to be angry with the sins flaunted and celebrated on every digital screen available; however, anger will not get Christianity flourishing.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort,
4 who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For just as Christ’s sufferings are ours in abundance [as they overflow to His followers], so also our comfort [our reassurance, our encouragement, our consolation] is abundant through Christ [it is truly more than enough to endure what we must]. source
Here’s the thinking train: The Father loves us as much as He loves JESUS and He let JESUS suffer.
He loves us, we have to know He will allow us to suffer too; I am confident though we will never be allowed to suffer to the extent that JESUS did, nor could we. All our suffering has a purpose – to save us from ourselves and perhaps help those we love or even needy strangers to see JESUS for themselves. All that JESUS suffered had a purpose – again, it was us; to save us from hell – eternal death.
BUT. The Father also comforted JESUS and He comforts us. Read our verses again.
If you recall Matthew 4, you know JESUS was so comforted that angels actually came and physically attended Him.
He had been forty days in the wilderness where satan tried with everything he had and still failed to distract Him, discourage Him, dissuade Him or in any wise defeat Him. The Father allowed that!
BUT when the work was done. Comfort came! The angels came and ministered to Him. I am imagining they came with food and water and Word from the Father.
Comfort comes in proportion to the suffering.
