A quote to ponder: Influence, just like salt shaken out, is hard to see, but its flavor is hard to miss. Pam Farrel. Count your blessings of the week. For me, Monday was important and long, attending a visitation and memorial service; Tuesday was another visitation; Wednesday and Thursday were play days with Logan and Emma Claire – 6 years and 17 months, respectfully, grand-babies are a rich blessing and privilege! Additionally on Thursday was an afternoon visit with a friend and an evening ministry meeting; and now that Friday is here, Beth Moore by satellite! It’s been a GOOD week. I am a blessed woman! Enter the word ‘salt’ at BibleGateway and you get 36 references in the KJV. A familiar passage is Mark 9:49 “For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.” A not so familiar is Leviticus 2: 13 And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt. Let me share briefly with you my initial on-line inquiry regarding Salt Covenant. Traditionally, salt was shared to seal a truce between former enemies or as a symbol of alliance between close friends. Treaties or friendships were often formalized by the partaking of a lick of salt to seal the deal or heal the difference between them. Entering into a Covenant of Salt means binding oneself to another in utmost loyalty and truthfulness, even suffering death, rather than breaking the covenant. For this very reason a Covenant of Salt was never done lightly or haphazardly – it deserves serious respect. To the ancient Hebrews, salt represented purification, and was also symbolic of enduring friendship, honesty, and loyalty (2Kin.2:19 -21; 2Chr.13:5). Today some Eastern people still use the phrase: “There is salt between us.” Having no salt, meant disloyalty and barrenness. This information comes from http://www.homeworship101.com/fyi_salt_covenant.htm I have not read the entire web page, have only made a quick perusal but what I have seen has opened doors of thought and I think it bears further examination. Salt, a symbol of a truce between former enemies. Amazing! Grain offerings (and maybe others) were given with SALT. This is so rich. There’s no way to do it justice in the moments we have left for this IDOK. Even in these quick moments, much comes to mind. Suffice to say for today, when you reach for the SALT; smile and praise Jesus that you have peace with God and carry that gratitude with you to others and as we do, we will experience what Jesus meant when He said have salt in yourselves and have peace with one another! Father God this has opened up more than I can take in this morning in these moments and I have rushed to put it on the screen; forgive me. Bring us back and teach us more as You will. Thank You for the conference with Beth this weekend, even by sattelite. I am counting on You to anoint my hearing and speak to me; to all of us. I am counting on You to take care of each of these and every situation and circumstance represented here. Amen and amen.Danni A. Tye B. Joann. Sheri, Tyler, Hannah. Edie. Ann J. Bernie. A quote to ponder: It is how we rise from a fall that determines our character.
Today the 31st of July lets read a portion of Psalm 31 in the New Living Translation 19 How great is the goodness You have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, Blessing them before the watching world. 20 You hide them in the shelter of Your presence, Safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in Your presence, Far from accusing tongues. 21 Praise the Lord, For He has shown me the wonders of His unfailing love. He kept me safe when my city was under attack. 22 In panic I cried out, “I am cut off from the Lord!” But You heard my cry for mercy And answered my call for help. 23 Love the Lord, all you godly ones! For the Lord protects those who are loyal to Him, But He harshly punishes the arrogant. 24 So be strong and courageous, All you who put your hope in the Lord! His unfailing love kept me safe when my city was under attack. These words we believe to be penned by David coming from the Mouth of God giving us insight into who David is and giving us hope in the promises of God our Father. Is your ‘city under attack’ today? Have you in panic cried out with similar words: ‘I am cut off from the Lord’? Take heart. He in mercy has heard your cry and He has answered your call for help. Even when our own city is besieged, even when the assault is bloody and long, He hides us in the SHELTER OF HIS PRESENCE. Romans 8: 31 What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] Father God, thank You for this Word today. And I pray Holy Spirit You will apply Your Word to the heart of each IDOK and each reader. I pray every soul reading this portion of Your Word today will hear Your Voice and will draw strength and peace and assurance of Your Love and Mercy for him or her. Thank You for another morning, another day to breath in and exhale out Your Love and Mercy in this world. Thank You for the protection, grace and mercy You have lavished upon our IDOK Troops and we pray for Your Gifts of Love to each of them again today. Wherever they are today we want them to know they are loved and they are safe in Your Presence. We commend to You each of these listed here. Thy Will be done forDanni A. Tye B. Joann. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. I am doing a little word study today. It began as I was reading some reference materials in my Bible regarding Church History. According to the material there are three branches of Christianity: Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestant. Now for the word. Gnosticism; meaning: a religious orientation advocating gnosis as the way to release a person’s spiritual element; considered heresy by Christian churches. And gnosis? Intuitive knowledge of spiritual truths; said to have been possessed by ancient Gnostics. Intuition – instinctive knowing. I Then compared Gnosticism with agnosticism. Agnostic meaning: One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God. B. One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism. 2. One who is doubtful or noncommittal about something. From the referenced notes, it appeared the Christian Church was moving along well for about 100 years (give or take 33) after Jesus ascended back to Abba. Somewhere between 100 AD and 325 AD, folks began to think they needed to ‘clarify’ what God said about Himself as in the Trinity and the Deity of Jesus. Remember we read Gnosticism is intuitive knowing? It was this intuitive knowing that beguiled man to attempt to ‘explain’ God. So here we are in 2008 AD and man with his ‘intuitive knowing’ still has not figured out the TRINITY or the DEITY OF JESUS and is till trying to clarify God. Hummm. This is my conclusion: Intuitive knowing rather than the witness of the Holy Spirit as confirmed by the Holy Scriptures is man’s first step on the road to doubt, leading to utter folly. (Gnostics – Agnostics, notice how similar). What does this mean to you and me since we have already accepted by Faith the Trinity and the Deity of Jesus? We have already passed from death unto life. We have already believed the Gospel. Even so, even now we must be cautious. However mature we are in the faith, one decision based on how we ‘feel’ or how we ‘think’ rather than upon Faith in what The Holy Spirit has revealed to us in His Word is our initial step to doubt. And doubt left unchecked will lead to deception and a damaged testimony. I can tell you from personal experience it takes a long time to rebuild a damaged testimony. I remember well the decision I made more than a decade ago based upon what I ‘felt’ rather than what I KNEW was the revealed Word of God. I heard a song today (I think for the first time) and it fits well with this. I especially identify with the words heal the wound but leave the scar. My Jesus has done just that for me. The song is by Point of Grace – Heal The Wound. Here’s a link for listening. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRuACUFIdrU I used to wish that I could rewrite history I used to dream that each mistake could be erased Then I could just pretend I never knew the me back then I used to pray that You would take this shame away Hide all the evidence of who I’ve been But it’s the memory of The place You brought me from That keeps me on my knees And even though I’m free Heal the wound but leave the scar A reminder of how merciful You are I am broken, torn apart Take the pieces of this heart And heal the wound but leave the scar I have not lived a life that boasts of anything I don’t take pride in what I bring But I’ll build an altar with The rubble that You’ve found me in And every stone will sing Of what You can redeem Heal the wound but leave the scar A reminder of how merciful You are I am broken, torn apart Take the pieces of this heart And heal the wound but leave the scar Don’t let me forget Everything You’ve done for me Don’t let me forget The beauty in the suffering Heal the wound but leave the scar A reminder of how merciful You are I am broken, torn apart Take the pieces of this heart And heal the wound but leave the scar Let us heed our scars lest we inflict other wounds on ourselves and others. Father, I was not sure where we were going with this when we began but I sure do like the way You brought it together. You do work all things out for our good. I love the way You brought the song to mind at just the right time as this IDOK was written. You are truly AWESOME. Thank You for healed wounds and merciful scars. And thank You that one day when we see You face to face we will not need our scars anymore. It will be so good to see You there. And for now we pray for wisdom, just as You have directed. Wisdom to recognize Your Will, wisdom to hear You as You reveal Your Word to us. And we pray again for these listed here. Thank You for what You have already done. It delighted me so when I heard that only four days from surgery Steve could hear muffled sounds. Thank You so much. We continue to trust You for a complete recovery of Steve’s hearing. And we continue to confess that Bernie is safely in Your Care as he takes each treatment and Linda too as she waits and gives care to Bernie. Thank You for the grace and protection You have given our IDOK Troops, day after day, year after year. Thank You. And we entrust each of them to You again today and we pray for them to rely upon You; to seek You for Wisdom and by faith receive it. And Abba I am still concerned about America. More and more concerned for the people who do not rely upon You but ‘think’ for themselves, going headlong to destruction. I only know to ask You for mercy; for grace and space to repent; for Holy Spirit conviction to be generously poured out upon this people. Abba, please forgive America. I pray too for my Christian brothers and sisters, especially those not sure how to honor You with their vote in November. Lord make them sure based upon Your Revealed Word to them. Father, let not Your people be deceived I pray. And I pray for Israel for Her Protection and Her Peace. I pray for Christians everywhere to love and care for Israel as You have called us to do. Thank You for IDOK; thank You for each of them, I am trusting You to meet their needs today for Jesus sake. Amen and amen. Danni A. Tye B. Joann. Sheri, Tyler, Hannah. Edie. Ann J. Bernie. We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
