IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2009

Psalm 67

1 God be merciful to us and bless us,

And cause His face to shine upon us, Selah

2 That Your way may be known on earth,

Your salvation among all nations.

I wonder how often I abide in this Passage of Scripture? I am reminded too of the passage in Hebrews 4 when He tells us to come boldly to find help in time of need.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

So obviously we are expected to come, come running with boldness to God asking Him to bless us, help us, deliver us, anything and everything we need. To come with all our desires. And mostly I do, I think. I think there is not much that I don’t pray about. But the question before me this morning is not about how much I pray but WHY I pray. Why do I ask? And obviously because I need the help. But Psalm 67 verses 1 and 2 have reminded me that my ultimate motive for praying and wanting ABBA to answer me should be because I want Him to be glorified in my need, in my situation, in your situation about which I am praying.

The purest motive for prayer is that He will be made known in this world. The purest motive for asking ABBA to intervene in my life and your life is so others will see how GOOD He is and want to KNOW Him too. And the text says: Selah (pause and think about that). Yes, that’s what Selah means and that is what DADDY GOD is saying to me and maybe you this morning: Pause and think about that.

Please continue to pray for Doug. He’s tired and there seems to be reason for concern.

ABBA, as purely as I know how in this moment I come this morning on behalf of Doug and each one listed here and I ask for Your Best for them. I pray for healings and provisions of every kind and for comfort and strength and purpose and joy, just every imaginable need these listed here could desire I am praying You will grant and give to them, even today. And I pray that my motive and their motives will be for Your Glory; for the purpose of others seeing You in their needs; and that Your provisions and blessings and grace will convict and convince others to seek You as their own personal Savior and Lord. This is my prayer today, not forgetting our IDOK Soldiers and their safety and the cleansing of Washington and all 50 States and the Peace of Israel; all this Lord, so You will be SEEN. Amen and amen.

ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. Amen and amen.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, MAY 4, 2009

Galatians 4: 8 and 9

Father God is revealing much to us in these Scriptures. He lets us see His Heart, the heart of Paul and the Galatians. Our brother Paul is baffled; it is just beyond him; he just cannot fathom how it is that these Galatians could “fall from grace”. He is so grieved, and alarmed even, that they could “thumb their noses” at the Grace of God. And indeed that is what they were doing. I too am baffled by this as to why one would desire to be under the law rather than grace. I would think that could only be the work of the evil one. I can fathom only one reason why one would choose law over grace: PRIDE – The downfall of Satan; the downfall of man; been there, done that!! The rejection of the Grace of God: there can be no more heinous sin than that; been there, done that too; so glad to be out of that!! Moreover, we know that the rejection of the Grace of God leaves no alternative for man; no means of salvation; no means to be reconciled to Him other than by His Grace and faith in His Grace. Oh, that we would have an abandoned trust that He is not stupid; not cruel; that He is altogether lovely and certain the Death of His Son is the only way for us to be reconciled to Him. What other explanation could there be? Nothing else makes any sense. Not to God, not to Paul and thus this letter to the Galatians and to all humanity that has followed.

It is not part of the focal passages but to me verse 19 is so tender. “My little children, {can’t you just see the Heart of Father bleeding and Paul’s heart breaking for these people} for whom I am again suffering birth pangs until Christ is completely and permanently formed (molded) within you. Would that I were with you now and could coax you vocally, for I am fearful and perplexed about you! “

Isn’t it wonderful of the Holy Spirit to allow the heart of Paul, his emotions, his love for these people to come through on the pages of Holy Writ? He goes on in verse 21: “Tell me, you who are bent on being under the Law, will you listen to what the Law [really] says? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondmaid and one by the free woman. But whereas the child of the slave woman was born according to the flesh and had an ordinary birth, the son of the free woman was born in fulfillment of the promise. Now all this in an allegory; these [two women] represent two covenants. One covenant originated from Mount Sinai [where the Law was given] and bears [children destined] for slavery; this is Hagar.”

This is us! This was the Galatians… children destined for slavery. Born in sin and destined to live and die in sin UNTIL the new covenant came. Verse 31: “So, brethren, we [who are born again] are not children of a slave woman [the natural, but of the free [the supernatural].”

Why would they, why would we be so foolish to withdraw from such a life; a life lived in the supernatural; a life destined for freedom, not slavery!

Chapter 5, verse 13: “For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another.”

Do you get the idea here that the Galatians were prone to extreme? Either labor under the Law or get loose and presumptuous under Grace. People have not changed much have we?

Verse 14: “For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is complied within the one precept, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. But if you bite and devour one another [in partisan strife], be careful that you [and your whole fellowship] are not consumed by one another.”

Do you get the idea there was strife and factions in the body at Galatia? Do you think there were some saying keep the Law and some saying no, no it’s all grace and we are free to do whatever we want to do. You know what? We are free to do whatever we want to do. We just better be sure that what we want to do is what He wants us to do or we will bite and devour one another.

The conclusion to all this; verse 16: “But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; THEN, you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of the human nature without God).” And you won’t live under the Law either. Now that is real freedom!! Let’s walk in it.

Your prayers will be appreciated Monday; I’ll be SUBBING again with 6th and 7th graders. I am thinking that since school is so close to being over for the 2008-2009 term, only much prayer will keep them in check tomorrow!!

Yes, ABBA, we believe, we know and have experienced that freedom that comes to us when we are walking habitually in what You have instructed us to do. And even when we do not know what to do as Pastor Roy said, when we don’t know what to do,we are to keep on doing what we know to do. I have Doug on my mind, we don’t know the cause of his nausea and the other symptoms; they concern us and yet we have already seen what You have done for him so we are continuing to entrust his recovery and healing to You. And there are others that come to mind too, like Steve, Linda H., Mike and Vickie, Shay and the children, and the children listed here and the adults and all the situations and circumstances. There are some tough times going on and people are concerned, even worried. Forgive us. You have so much to forgive, so often. Thank You that You are forever faithful to us. This year’s school term is ending soon; some teachers are concerned about returning in August, if they will get to or not. And these last weeks are important, You know what remains to be accomplished and especially our IDOKs who are teachers I pray for them to finish well, they and their students. And, ABBA, WC comes to mind. You know the need there and I ask You to attend to him, that You give him the desires of his heart, he and Betty. And we could not close this prayer without holding up our IDOK Soldiers for health and safety and protection and for safe returns home. And I am again renewing my prayer for the cleansing of Washington and all 50 States and for the defeat of all pieces of legislature with hidden and not so hidden agendas to silence the voices of those who speak Your Word. And Lord bring Your people out on Thursday, the National Day of Prayer, cause us to show up in numbers that will proclaim that we are not the minority. I pray particularly that here in Satsuma, the Square will be filled and that fervent prayers will be heard and You will answer. And I pray Holy Spirit that You will anoint and use this offering of words to exalt Jesus and rescue souls for His Name Sake. Amen and amen.

I think I have only one verse of Scripture for us to ponder today. Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

The verse is recorded immediately following the time when Jesus was 12, when after searching for three (3) days Mary and Joseph found Him in the temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. I enjoy thinking about Jesus in His Perfect Humanity. I enjoy using my holy imagination to envision Him as a baby, a toddler, a young man of 12, even a teenager. And when I read Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, that means to me that the Eternal God, knowing everything, lowered Himself to the state of a helpless baby who had to learn and grow. And He did that so I could identify with Him. He did it because He loved/loves you and me from eternity past, eternity present and eternity future. Now my mind cannot get itself around that but my spirit KNOWS it is true and my soul is so thrilled with it that big smiles and out loud giggles often erupt. I hope you will ponder not only that Jesus is perfect, holy God but He is and was living, learning, growing, laughing, crying, playing, working, perfect humanity too. He grew in wisdom and stature. One day some months after He was born in that stable in Bethlehem He let go of Mary’s hand and took His first step. In time, He learned to read, even as you and I did. He made his bed and learned to hammer and nail, Joseph was His teacher. Just imagine that. Can you imagine the delight He must have been to the two of them? Like Beth Moore says I surely hope ABBA made a heavenly video of all those years. I want to see it! I want to see my Lord and my Savior in all those little things He did just so I could identify with Him. Oh, what a Savior, fully God and fully human!

I could go on and on and I hope you will, pondering the many ways Jesus identified with you, and may you comprehend just a little bit more the depth, height and width of His love for you.

Doug is having surgery today (May 1), prayers for him and his sister, Claudia, are appreciated.

Prayer Report: Melinda thanks us for our prayers for Mike and Vickie and Vickie has an update for us: Thank you all for your concern, prayers, and messages. Mike is doing beautifully after his brain surgery! They will “map” the site of the surgery, and he should have the radiation in a week or so (it should be only one treatment).

He had visits from physical/occupational therapists and a nurse at home last week; they were all in agreement that he is doing too well for in-home therapy (HOORAY!), so he will start out-patient at Lodi later today. We can’t believe how well he is walking…won’t be surprised if he is upgraded from a walker to a cane!

The CT scans taken of his chest/abdomen/pelvis when he was hospitalized show a lot of tumor progress – the largest one in his liver has almost doubled in size, many others have grown, and new ones have appeared in other locations, especially lymph nodes throughout his body. The most likely treatment will be Temozolomide taken in capsule form, which he will receive at home. This decision must wait until a couple of weeks after the radiation treatment ends, so we do not have a timeline for this.

Mike is handling all of this fairly well, . . . . I will let you know more as things happen. Love, Vickie…and Mike

Oh ABBA, I really hope You have that heavenly video all ready for us. There are so many, many things I want You to show me when I get to Heaven with You. Lord Jesus, I would so love to see You there in the stable and the carpenter shop and the home You had with Mary and Joseph and Your brothers and sisters, all those years that You were learning and growing and doing the right thing. Oh Lord, You are the Awesome GodMan. Thank You. And speaking of doing the right thing, since You did the right thing in Your Humanity, You can surely teach me to do the right thing too. That is so beautiful and so encouraging. Thank You.

And ABBA thank You for what You have done for Mike. You have a good plan for him and we wait to see You work it out more and more. We pray for he and Vickie that their faith and strength increase and fail not. And we pray for Doug. We pray this surgery will be successful and his recovery will be soon coming. We pray for Claudia to be comforted and strengthened to encourage and bless Doug. And please give Larry safe passage here. Thank You that Drew is home from Iraq. And now that he is we pray he will soon find his niche and will serve You faithfully. We pray for all our IDOK Troops, for their safety in spirit, mind and body and that each will come home safe and sound at the appointed time. We pray for each one listed here, there are lots and lots of needs, more than we even know; but You know them and we believe You care, we believe You have a plan and we believe You are working that plan for each one them. Please don’t let them miss it. I am also renewing my prayer for the cleansing of Washington and all 50 States; for the Peace of Israel and the reviving of the Church and for the children, those hungry and those full; Thy will be done. IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2009

When we refuse to do what we CAN do, God is not obligated to do the impossible for us.

I think that is not verbatim of what I heard Joyce say today but maybe it is close. I see it like this if we are so lazy or stubborn that we will not do what we CAN to take the best care we can of our spirits, souls and bodies, why should we expect God to perform miracles for us when we get sick or depressed? (Now hear me out here before you think I am being too hard on us. Illness and disease is not always a direct result of what we have on purpose refused to do for ourselves. It can be because of what others have done. Like crop dusting and a host of other harmful chemicals manufactured by man, most with the intention of helping, I think. ) But, as I said if we do not do what we can, is it really faith for us to expect Him to do the impossible for us? That is not to say in His GREAT Grace that He will not, but He may not. He may insist that we walk another path to healing, emotionally and physically. For sure, He expects us to DO what we CAN, rather that expecting Him to do what we WON’T. He expects us to Eat and Drink and Exercise responsibly. Some of us are starting really late here but I do believe He honors and helps and blesses even late starters. Now this is not new counsel, we have been here many, many times. Which I think makes us even more accountable. ABBA, knows I have made resolutions again and again and again and again. Joyce says I have heretofore failed in my good intentions because I have said to myself I will ‘try’. She said as long as our response is ‘I will try’, we will fail. And as I typed those words this Scripture came to mind. Romans 13:14 But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).

Joyce further said, ‘if you let a piece of pie boss you around’, and to be honest I don’t remember the rest of the quote, but I get it! Don’t you?

I get that when I am confronted with right, holy and good counsel that I have the God given ability to DO and I say ‘I will try’, I am in that moment providing myself with the option to NOT do it! In that very moment I made provision for my flesh to boss me around, instead of obeying My Messiah. And in addition to that I just sent an invitation to Satan to come beat up on me and shove me around. How stupid is that!?

DADDY GOD, we are so accustom to saying I will try and have even on many occasions said I will do and then have not, that we are uneasy about saying it again. Help us throw off that fear and that guilt and trust You today for today. As I write this, this ‘today’ is far spent already. It is late in the day to begin, but that is just a tired, worn out excuse; an excuse that I am refusing right now. I am excited to see just how much You and I can accomplish before bed time and how much will be accomplished on the day this reaches our IDOKs’ screens. Thank You for the plans You have for us. Thank You for this Word for us. Thank You that You bless late arrive-rs. Thank You, I remember that Scripture when You told that story. You rewarded the laborers that came early and those that came late You are so AWESOME. .

We commend these listed here to You. They need Your help today and I know You are willing and so we are waiting to hear and see what You do in and through them.

We pray for the peace of Israel and I am again renewing my prayer for the cleansing of Washington and all 50 States; praying too for the poor and needy children around the world that we will do what we CAN do and see You do what You desire to do. And I pray for the privileged children here in the United States that You will protect them, tender their hearts and rescue them from falling victim to having so much they become greedy and discontent. Encourage us in these times, give us eyes to see the great opportunities that these times are generating for us. Help us believe that in You we are more than conquerors. Help us rejoice in times like these and know that we are here for Your Glory. Prosper us so we can give to others. Amen and amen.

ABBA, I am posting this here in prayer as a daily prayer and I am praying as pure in motive as I know how today, asking that You by whatever ways and means You choose, see to the removal from office of every elected Official in Washington and all 50 States that is not sensitive to and is not inclined to work to preserve Judaeo-Christian values and the Constitution of this Nation in its Original Intent. Lord, I am so sorry that many (and thank You not all) offices of this Nation are filled with corrupt, reprobate-minded people who have no regard for You or Your Word and if I have done anything that has contributed to the election of these people, please forgive me and stop me from any further actions that will damage and bring this Nation to complete ruin. I pray Holy Spirit that You will stir the hearts and prayers of enough people to bring this Nation to repentance and will clean and cleanse the offices and the Officials of this Nation. Father God, please have mercy on us. Lord Jesus, clean Washington even as You did the Temple if need be. Amen and amen.
