Day 74
292 days remaining after today.

I’m awake when I don’t want to be and inspiration has escaped me too, at least for the moment so I am borrowing from myself. :)

Places – Posted on March 21, 2012

While praying for someone especially close and dear, I thought of you all. It’s a hope in JESUS for you that is possible and in my thinking so desirable.

That your homes  be places in which JESUS is the welcomed and loved King; places filled with prayer and praise; where the Bible is treasured, is the most read of all books and is consistently obeyed; where laughter is abundant and love prevails. Places where reason replaces shouting matches; where chaos is banished and order is welcomed; where cooperation replaces bickering and unhealthy competition. Seems idyllic, doesn’t it? Yet JESUS makes it possible.   Let us pray for it till we get it!

Isaiah 32: 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance for ever.

18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings and in quiet resting places
via Isaiah 32 KJ21 – Behold, a King shall reign in – Bible Gateway.

ABBA, thank You. It has not been the morning I planned but I am blessed that it is still well with my soul; I praise You and You alone for that. Thank You. And, HOLY SPIRIT, as I think about this home-life description, it does seem idyllic, perhaps like an impossible dream to some, but day by day, step by step progress can be made; You can be welcomed in a moment as KING and Your Presence can be learned and practiced. Make it so for each soul, each home, that comes here to pray. Thank You for each One, attend them today I pray. We have many matters in mind, some sitting heavy on hearts — You know them least I name them here; least others name them; You know and we thank You for knowing; knowing what is needed; knowing how to position souls to say yes and it is for that we pray; that souls will say yes to You and yield to the homes You have for us. We continue to remember the political arena and personally, ABBA, I am asking You for mercy and revival for us all. I am asking You to rain down grace to repent. I am asking You, HOLY SPIRIT, to convict and convince of sin, of righteousness and judgement to come; as Prophets of Old pleaded for mercy and repented of sin, so do we, ABBA.  Encourage the weary I pray, heal the sick and restore the fallen and let us enter into this Work with You, resting wholly and solely on the merits of JESUS our Savior.

We have the God-given Right to do right in this wrong World,

Another Look at Toddlers & English 101

Day 46
320 days remaining after today.

I’d like to cut, copy and paste a devotion I wrote in 2007 and share it with you again today. I titled it Toddlers and English 101. It helped me then; it helps me now. Perhaps it will you too.

IDOK DEVOTION for Monday, August 27, 2007

Pray for the Peace of Israel

It has been a back to back weekend and today may be short – a little rest is in order.

As Jerry and I were driving to Sunday morning service I was reminiscing other Sundays, lessons taught, comments made and etc. On the movie screen of my memories, I saw myself as immature and silly – even embarrassing. And before I could change scenes it was if the Holy Spirit began to correct and instruct me. He played another scene for me – a little girl learning to walk. She held on for the longest time to the coffee table and the sofa, gingerly inching her way around and then finally letting go she took a wobbly step, halted to balance herself and then a big smile; a wobbly step, halt and a big smile. And on and on she went. And me, what was I doing? Watching with glee, clapping and cheering. It was as if Father gently said, you watched your babies (and now your grand-babies) grow and every little step, every accomplishment was celebrated, even the tiniest achievement was applauded — remember? You would not have dreamed of being embarrassed by their efforts, nor would you have described their efforts as silly or immature. Why are you accessing your spiritual advances any differently? Why can you not humbly applaud those steps you made? I do.
And with that my thoughts turned to you, my dear IDOK Family. And I wondered if you have done the same; if you have criticized yourself as you remember your spiritual journey from infancy to where you are today? Have you looked back with embarrassment? Have you criticized your progress? Have you bemoaned that as a toddler you could not complete English 101?
Don’t!
Humbly applaud every step you have taken toward Jesus; humbly applaud every courageous step you have taken in Bible Study, in sharing The Word with others, every word of encouragement you have spoken to another, every unclean joke you refused to listen to, every gossip session you refused to take part in, every television program you turned off because of the unholy content, every movie theater you walked out of for the same reason – etc. Etc. Humbly applaud your progress and keep going – keep on keeping on!

Father, thank You. Thank You for Your Daily Words to us. Thank You for your encouragement, thank You for the applause, help us accept with humility and gratitude, for we know any steps to maturity in You we owe to You. Thank You. . . . And we bring those we love for whatever is needed today and thank You that we can come and receive Your help. . . . And our IDOK Troops we have them on our hearts too – wherever they are and whatever they need, You have for them and we ask You Holy Spirit to help them depend upon You. And we pray for their protection in mind and body and spirit and we pray that each of them will come home safe and sound and more in love with You than when they deployed. And all this we ask solely on the merits of Jesus our Lord.

10 “He found his people in desert country,
in a howling, wasted wilderness.
He protected him and cared for him,
guarded him like the pupil of his eye,
11 like an eagle that stirs up her nest,
hovers over her young,
spreads out her wings, takes them
and carries them as she flies. Deuteronomy 32:10-11[source

Philippians 1:And I am sure of this: that the One who began a good work among you will keep it growing until it is completed on the Day of the Messiah Yeshua. [source]

2 Peter 3:17 But you, dear friends, since you know this in advance, guard yourselves; so that you will not be led away by the errors of the wicked and fall from your own secure position.18 And keep growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Deliverer, Yeshua the Messiah. To him be the glory, both now and forever! Amen. [source]

Reminiscing

Day 35
331 days remaining after today.

Thursday is coming on strong and my screen is well blank so I have found another old post that seems good for today.

IDOK Devotion for Thursday, April 29, 2010

Susie.  She’s our dog.   A yellow lab.  She’s nearly 8 and weighs in at about 90 pounds.  So she is no small dog and she’s as strong as an ox … well, perhaps not, but you get my drift.  Susie has the run of the back yard within the boundaries of a fence.  It’s a nice fence.  Made of three boards spanning about 3 feet top to bottom with American Wire attached to the boards on Susie’s side which prevents her from utilizing the space between the boards to escape the confines of the backyard.  However,  the boards and the wire are not the only things impeding Susie from leaving the back yard.  Actually, I have no doubt that Susie could easily scale that fence.  And I am equally certain she would be thrilled to be on the other side.  I know this because she will knock down a small child or mid-size woman to get out the gate when it is opened.  For this reason I do not open the gate.  Okay. Okay. I’ll get to my point.  Why does Susie remain in the back yard barring someone leaving the gate open?  Clearly she has the body strength and height to come over that fence.  So what’s holding Susie back?  Here’s what I think.  Susie does not KNOW she can jump/climb over that fence.

I think we are like Susie sometimes.  God has given us gifts, talents, skills and His own dear Presence to empower us, yet we stay in our comfort zones. We stay within the boundaries erected around us.  Boundaries that when we walk up to them, clearly we have the strength in Christ to get over them.  But we don’t.  Why not?  Could it be lack of knowledge?  And why don’t we know?  Have we not read the Scriptures?  Do we not well know, can we not all quote Philippians 4:13?  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. And what about Jeremiah 1:19″They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD. [source]

Is there something that God has put in your heart to do?  Are there some boundaries drawn around your heart, your life that He wants you to scale, to get to the other side of and yet you have not?  Be encouraged.  KNOW — no, BELIEVE.  Believe He in you is enough to do the thing and do it!

ABBA, this is another one of those I want to post right now.   One of those that I think, this is good!  This will ‘preach’. This will resonant with some people.  It’ll light up in someone’s heart and they will be encouraged.   That’s what I think.  And that’s what I am praying for now; that when it reaches the screens of our IDOKs and Readers, they will hear from You.  That You, Holy Spirit, will leap this off the ‘page’ and will encourage someone to BELIEVE You and do great things in Your Name in this world.  Even me, DADDY GOD, even me.   I still don’t know why You let me do this but I am so glad You do.  Thank You.

. . .  So many, so many needs, so many problems; but You are able.  Thank You for taking care of all these.  And, LORD, we ask and we ask and I know that’s okay because You told us to ask and yet in this moment I am thinking wouldn’t it be good to just visit with You and love on You and praise and appreciate You.  Like Beth said this morning just fellowship with You, meaning sometimes we just shut up and listen.  I really want to learn to do that.   So here I go petitioning again… teach us how.   And bless and keep safe our IDOK Troops and their families.   Love on our IDOKs and our Readers and best we know how we are listening in Jesus name.  Amen and amen.

Since the writing of this post in 2010 our Susie has passed away. img_5861We still miss her.

We love You, ABBA, thank You for loving us. Thank You for Your forever faithfulness to us. Your forever love for us. Your forever goodness to us. And, ABBA, thank You for puppy dogs that teach us lessons even now and for photographs. I love You , ABBA.
